Sorry for the hyperbole. I stumbled across this on the telegraph website and was quite shocked at how casually it insulted vast swathes of the population. Read it, but to sum up if you are a fantasy fan (particularly one who commits the great sin of playing video-games)you are scum.

Wow, I thought the title was an exaggeration but now I can see why you would say that, the article is one huge pulsating mass of stereotypes and flame-bait. I can't help feeling it was a deliberate troll on behalf of the Telegraph to lure in views from outraged fantasy fans and geeks of all shades. Worst article ever? No. Sometimes I write articles and I'm much stupider than this fellow! No way is he claiming the title that is mine by rights.

However, he does come off as a rather joyless twat, but each to his own. If he prefers to have a life empty of things that make his smile that's his problem.

I'm sure some people hate reality so much they would rather retreat into a world created by the human mind so I do agree slightly with the article. However, it is clearly blown way out of proportion and is riddled with stereotypical ammunition that many of us could easily accomplish without a doctorate. He sort of reminds me of a less political Rush Limbaugh.

Check out his other articles, they all seem to be centered around this attacks before facts way of getting his point across. In other words, ignore him and eventually he'll disappear just like any other troll.
