Well, his body is slowly failing and shutting down right before his eyes, and he'll be reduced to a heap of slag inside an urn sooner rather than later, and so are most people like him. I suppose this bit of passive-agressive whining is just an unescapable reaction to him noticing that the world is steadily slipping from the grasp of the likes of him.

That must suck a bit, waking up one morning and realizing the world no longer listens and are all happily reading fairy tales and other prolefeed, and don't even have the sense to feel ashamed of it anymore. But again, he and his will be dead soon.

(Unless he isn't the whiny old Eggbert-type man I imagine, but I'm going to be presumptive about him, in return)

WOW...that one was certainly dumb.

But after reading articles by Micheal Savage, Bob Enyart, and a place called Vox Popoli which called for a national holiday to be celebrated in honor of someone who gunned down female students at a trade school in Canada, this one has a ways to go to be a contender for dumbest ever.
Ahh, Vox Popoli. That place is fun. [http://www.fstdt.com/Search.aspx?Board=Vox+Popoli&Page=1]

First thought: How bad could this article be?

Second thought, halfway through the article: This writer is an arsehole.

Third thought, 3/4 of the way through the article: This guy is an elitist prick.

Fourth thought: This guy is writing a hoaky doomsday prophecy.

Fifth though, now finished reading: This guy reminds me of my collage English teacher...

-------------------

Final thought in reflection: I feel bad for having read the article and provided a page view to this guy.

Yeah there's no search function and I've gone through several pages of noxious bullshit trying to find it. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask: link plz?

Would somebody mind summarizing the article? Based on the responses so far, I refuse to click that link and generate more ad revenue for that site. No matter how angry you get at something, if you go to their page to read it, they've won.
Here you go!

On Wednesday, Wellington in New Zealand was occupied by an army of wizards, elves and hobbits. An estimated 100,000 geeks showed up in fancy dress to celebrate the premiere of The Hobbit ? the latest addition to the never-ending cycle of Tolkien movies that threatens to run on to doomsday. Of course, it?s possible that some of the ?hobbits? in the crowd weren?t actually wearing fancy dress at all. Pale skin, hairy feet and short stature are fairly common among fantasy fans. If you spend your entire life living in your mum?s basement playing Xbox and eating Wotsits, then you?re unlikely to grow up looking like Daniel Craig.
If popular culture holds a mirror up to society, the success of these films can only reflect a retreat from reality. Many have lost themselves in the politics of HBO?s Game of Thrones, which deals with a series of wars between families living in some mythical land wherein clothes are fast going out of fashion (the characters? habit of delivering dialogue in the nude has become jokingly referred to as ?sexposition?). There are now millions of citizens of World of Warcraft ? an online, role-playing game that allows socially awkward teenagers to hunt and slaughter each other. And for the more innocent, of course, there?s Harry Potter ? the success of which has blurred the lines between children?s and adults? fiction. Thanks to J K Rowling, you can hear otherwise intelligent people talking about a kids? book as if it was Dostoevsky.
At the root of all of this virtual reality is real greed. The Hobbit is a great example of how Hollywood has franchised fantasy and encouraged its fans to run away from real life. The book is relatively short, yet Warner Bros has turned it into a three-part cycle, with each part running at about two and a half hours. If they could break each one down into tablet format, they?d cure insomnia for good. The idea is to a) create the sense of an epic ?event? and b) drag that event out over three movies so that three times the usual amount of ticket sales can be squeezed out of it. If you bothered to see part one, then you?ll have to see part two to find out what happens next. If you?ve managed to stay awake through part two, then you?ll obviously want to see how it all finishes. Doubtless there will be a sequel to this prequel: Gollum the Musical.
The goal is to get the audience hooked on the studio?s product ? and some literally become addicted. A 2008 study found that 10 per cent of Harry Potter readers experience the classic symptoms of substance abuse: loss of sleep and appetite, obsession with the material and withdrawal pains when they complete the last book of the series. A book acts as a gateway drug to a wider Potter experience: fan forums, toys and movies. Video games are probably the most pernicious aspect of this fantasy market. They?ve become so addictive that gamers have started to move in with each other to pool resources. The hook is that tawdry lives are elevated by fantasy in the same way that alcohol convinces a man that he is bigger and better looking than he really is. ?By day I deliver Domino?s pizzas. But by night, I am King of the Lizard people!?
Of course, that doesn?t mean that the fantasy industry is without art ? although it?s certainly not to my taste. I can?t stand the Tolkien movies. To me they are plodding and dull ? largely centred on a handful of hairy dwarves on some inane quest to take something to somewhere else that will make something terribly important happen involving an old man with a beard who played Dracula in the Hammer Horror films. The dialogue is pretentious and often consists of lists that matter only to the initiated (?You must visit the Tree People of Thrag who will take you to the Well of Umdingo, which leads to the underground kingdom of the Trolls of Handbag Mountain? etc). If there?s any pleasure to be taken from this borefest, it?s seeing once great British character actors getting a final shot at making enough money to buy their mobile home outright.
But what is worrying is the cult-like following that the Tolkien films have encouraged. Many of the acolytes seem victims of arrested development ? detaching themselves from the real world with its real people and its real challenges. In the same way that superhero movies actually emasculate the audience by convincing them that their problems are so big that only a man in a cape can solve them, so the fantasy racket returns us to the emotional paralysis of early childhood.
The true horror comes when someone can no longer tell the difference between what?s real and what?s not and they end up living their lives as dwarves or wizards. It?s only a matter of time before the Tolkien cult grows so big that we have to treat it like a serious part of our culture. Expect Labour councils to snatch children from foster parents because they?re a member of a political party that is anti-orc. It?s only a matter of time.

My opinion? Meh, troll, a foppish twatty looking one at that. Move on, nothing to see here!

My favorite part has to be the line-

"A book acts as a gateway drug to a wider Potter experience..."

So books are gateway drugs now? I better let my university professors know.

How can this be the worst article ever if it's not on Cracked?

Geez, this was a horrible read. I didn't actually know people roomed together exclusively to buy more video games.

Connecting JK Rowling and Dostoevsky... is that a concealed Yogpod reference?!?

Lol what a pathetic bully. The new Lord of the rings and the Hobbit movies are going to pull the U.S out of the recession with sheer spending power lol (that is a bit of a joke).

I read the guys twitter feed; he's an absolute wanker(pardon my language, but I feel that it is appropriate right now), and apparently a touch screen PC(ones that have been around for ~4 years) are a sign that we live in Star Trek.

Like I said, wanker(also possibly a hypocrite)

Also can't spell Dostoyevsky(a cheap shot, but the prick deserves it)

1137 pages of text is considered short

Has no respect for proper movie pacing(even then the LoTR trilogy missed out the battle of the Shire)

Presumably lives a very boring live(cheap shot count: 2)

"Real people with Real challenges" don't write bitchy & whiny articles that channel an attitude from 80's America

Did I mention he's a wanker

(as a note, the above comments were made as I read through the article)

If I ever meet him IRL, I will deliberately straighten my back to show off all 6 ft 3 inches of a 'fantasy fan'.

If I seem rash and immature in my venting, I apologize; people like him exist in my school, save that they shut their mouths/ are convinced by me that they're wrong, so I have a lot of pent up aggression towards such ignoramuses.

Whoa, is this guy coming from the nineties?!

He's obviously never met a rabid sportsfan. Besides I bet that watching 'the hobbit' is a sight better for your brains then watching yet another 'American Pie'.

But whatever, he's missed the memo, being a nerd is cool now.

Fucking bully asking for the attention he used to get in high school.

Isn't this only the fourth? And the last one was 6 years ago? I couldn't be bothered to read the whole article, but this annoyed me a little because it's just a ridiculous exaggeration.
Believe, me, it just escalates from there.

OT: Didn't finish the article, saw no reason to. After I post this, I'll go and play Dishonored, spending any more time reading the article would take away from what I actually would enjoy.

On the other hand, I just had a quick look at the comment section and I found that somebody had posted my now new favourite YouTube video there.

Hmm... Wotsits are like Cheetos. You learn something new everyday.

Oh, and that guy is a douche.

From what I've read, he seems like a republican, and yet his twitter background is from the episode of South Park that ridicules Glenn Beck and FOX. Either he is a troll, or now I can survive for the next week feeding solely on the delicious irony.
