Oh, and that guy is a douche.

From what I've read, he seems like a republican, and yet his twitter background is from the episode of South Park that ridicules Glenn Beck and FOX. Either he is a troll, or now I can survive for the next week feeding solely on the delicious irony.
Per his Wikipedia page, he actually began as Labour (he's British, and that's our - formerly - left wing party, back when we had such a thing) but after moving to the Us distanced himself and now supports the Republicans. Maybe he's just a Republican who doesn't like FOX?

I don't know, this one might be even worse - it had me fairly frothing at the mouth. Nasty, snobbish piece of shit.
See, what's annoying about that is that his point isn't too bad of an argument, being (as I understand it) related to the difficulties in artistically expressing onesself through a project which is necessarily created by committee. I don't agree, but it's an interesting argument.

Where it all goes terribly fucking wrong is when he starts asking stupid, snobbish questions like "what is a proffessor doing playing video games?" and acting like such a person should be above these childish pursuits.

He writes so many words to say so little.

Seriously, it's like he just keeps repeating the "I personally don't like fantasy" angle without giving a reason other than nerd stereotypes. There's even a sentence hidden in that giant block of text which says the genre does have artistic merit, but damn if he's going to actually say something constructive about it.

If you all don't like him so much , I know I certainly don't then head on over to his website at http://www.timothystanley.co.uk/contact.html where you can contact him personally. I have never been so angry at a journalist , a field I want to go into , and a historian , a second field I want to go into , before.

Also can't spell Dostoyevsky(a cheap shot, but the prick deserves it)
As far as I know, 'Dostoevsky' is one possible way of transliterating his name from Russian. I tend to write it 'Dostojevski', personally.
Pardon me then, 'twas my Eastern European roots looking for a more precise Russian to English translation.

(I also spell it Dostojevski during all other occasions, when I'm not picking for cheap shots at people such as the guy who wrote the article)

The term: "TROLL", comes to mind. If he was seriously interested in discussion, he wouldn't have insulted people so early in. He's deliberately being controversial, not because he has something intelligent to say, but because he's a twat.

Ignore it and move on.

And add The Telegraph to the list of outlets like The Daily Mail, and Fox News for useless twats who shouldn't be in media.

I was chuckling through the article, thinking nothing of it other than: 'Oh, wow.. Some people really are cunts now aren't they' ... But then he referred to Sir Ian Mckellen as 'an old man with a beard who played Dracula in the Hammer Horror films' - OH, BOY.. THAT WAS NOT A CLEVER THING TO SAY..

Sir McEllen is not amused..

Seriously, though.. What a pretentious ****...

He was talking about Sir Christopher Lee but yeah he clearly avoided the fact that he was knocking a film with a VERY respected Shakespearian actor (best Iago EU!).

Let's go find this guy and throw wotsits at his stupid hair.

Oh, thank you for correcting me..
I feel like a terrible excuse for a Drama nerd..

But, yeah.. I saw a video in the comment section that I think kind of summed up this article..

I had to cross my arms when you posted that link. I'm at an internet café atm and my nipples just went hard.

This is my letter to him:

Dear Mr. Stanley.

You are probably aware that a certain sub-culture are feeling very bitter towards you right now.

I would just like to say that I read your article from start to finish and am appalled at some of the responses. As I scrolled down to the comment's section to post my praises I saw, to my disappointment, the hateful things being said by some of the subjects of your article.

I hope you read this and it raises your spirits to know that I, personally, found your article hilarious and encourage you to write more. With Hollywood now following the literary market's obsession with fantasy, good entertainment is exceptionally hard to come by and, as such, I am endlessly thankful for your article.

It's a shame to see that the "basement masses" don't posses the social awareness to truly understand your piece, but be comforted in the knowledge that you and I are on the same level and that I have never laughed so much in my life. The manner in which you bring together hypocrisy and disparagement simultaneously is stunning and I look forward to reading more of your bullshit.

More like the most hilarious article ever. The guy clearly has no idea what he's talking about, and I can't believe this was published professionally.

?By day I deliver Domino?s pizzas. But by night, I am King of the Lizard people!?

Tim Stanley I can't even handle you right now.
