This is a true and well thoguht out arguement, and i'm going to respond with yes, you are correct, but my original point was that because it is Microsoft, a giant in the bussiness, it will not simply make things free and available to people, becasue why would they? they are where they are now because of that reason.Pyronox said:Lol, I agree but not for that reason. I mean, if they can make Silver with the option of TCP/IP games, that could be free, but right now the thing that keeps Xbox at the top is that the sub fee made up for the losses with selling the console itself, and helped increase investment in new technologies, which mean a better Xbox after this one (720 or Pulse I heard).AkJay said:Xbox Live is a Microsoft service, so no, it will NEVER be free.
But you can't blame them: with services like Windows Live, Hotmail, etc. which are essentially free even to those that don't have Microsoft OS/Products and cost MILLIONS to maintain, they have to make a profit somehow. Although that might not be the official division, I think they do pool some resources.

Seriously now? Have you ever even played on PSN? (if you have, disregard the next few statements) PSN is perfectly fine, and most of the games I play on it never lag, at least not profusely since lag is common for any online service. PSN is a perfectly good service for free and asks you near nothing in return, I don't know where you get off saying that PSN is bad unless you personally had some bad experiences with it.SinfulKnight said:If Xbox LIVE was free its service would be as bad as PlayStation. nobody asked "is xbox live a problem and overly expensive?"apsham said:Don't see what the problem is with a lot of people here, paying for XBL isn't a problem at all considering that it's not overly expensive and is an EXCELLENT all around service.
I was making an unenthusiastic joke. Don't mind it if you didn't find it funny, I didn't really either.seydaman said:why would heSkalman said:While it is highly unlikely, I think XBL could be free in a not too distant future, all that is required is that the competition increase.

It'll be free when/if PS3's online gaming service surpasses Live's and MS starts to lose business because of that. It'll be similar to the whole Windows Live situation.bernthalbob616 said:A while back I heard that X-box live was going to become a free service, but nothing has come of it since. Does anyone out there in internet land have any information?
I thought it would be the day when it rains malted milk balls.darrinwright said:When pigs fly is the day Xbox Live will be free.
That's so crazy it just might work! I'll find the pig, you get the parts.Benj17 said:what about if i attach wings and an engine to a pig, does that count?darrinwright said:When pigs fly is the day Xbox Live will be free.
