Once Cartoon Cartoons and Toonami got bombed to hell, Cartoon Network slipped very quickly into decay.

Ah Cartoon cartoon Fridays were the shit! I mean Power Puff Girls, Courage, Dexter, and all the other cartoons Im to lazy to mention. I loved them all, and Then their was Toonami, I would turn the volume almost all the way down to watch the later shows so my parents would think I was asleep. Flapjack, chowder, and Adventure time arnt so bad.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Cartoon Network has definitely gone down the shitter as far as I'm concerned, I really miss watching DBZ.

I like Adventure Time, and they still show Kids Next Door, which is delightfully cute and fun. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was one of my favorites, so I'm ticked it's over already. (The guy who did it was the same guy who did Dexter's Lab and the Powerpuff Girls.) And yeah, Adult Swim is good.

It does bug me that half the shows on CN now aren't even cartoons, but to be fair, it might just be our nostalgia that's making the actual cartoons seem like crap. Times change and we just have to deal with. I'm only twenty, so I don't wanna succumb to "kids these days" syndrome just yet.

"Hey" says Terry. "You know how everyone loved all of our Cartoons from the past and we were still able to get lots of money off of it? What about trying something different, and branching out to new audiences to see what we can do."

"Okay," says Gonad. "But, let's do this by completely firing all the talented people at the studio, and making live action stuff. What's more different from cartoons than live action."

"Hey that's a good idea!" says Terry. "Actually no, that's an awful idea. How in the fucking hell can we make live-action if we're CARTOON network?"

"I dunno!" says Gonad while sticking his head out of the toilet he ripped out of the bathroom. "I'm just trying to please the octopus in my head!"

"Wait" says Terry confusingly. "Wasn't that Pillock's thing? And why are we making references to old Zero Punctuation episodes that stopped being funny the first ten fucking million times?"

"I have no idea," says Gonad after sucking on his foot, "All I know is that I'm out of skittles to snort, and originality gives my brain herpes."

Most of the examples in the OP weren't original CN productions.

Whatever happened to stuff like The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy? I miss that show... great series.

Ever since they took that, Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Laboratory off the air, CN has gone down the tubes. Even before Toonami officially died, they were crap, and they remain crap today.

Same thing with Nickelodeon, tbh. Does anyone other than me remember things like the original Ren and Stimpy show? How about AAAAAH! Real Monsters!? Or The Secret World of Alex Mack, Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, Clarissa Explains It All, and The Adventures of Pete and Pete?

I won't forgive them until they bring back Samurai Jack. That was the only cartoon I know of that didn't rely on slapstick and toilet jokes.
i consider myself lucky as our satellite dish takes contact and opens... Danish CN ... and i watch it only at sundays at 11.15pm-00.00am cos then they give two episodes of Samurai Jack yey...

sigh i wish i could get whole dvd set but there is this thing with american dvd so they wont work with european machines... i just wonder how... how xbox 360 handles... maybe there is still hope

I lived off that channel for years. It had far too many good shows to list. Like many people it is what got me into anime.

Also, I thought Edd Ed and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Johnny Brovo, Cow and Chicken and so many other cartoons like those were just absolutely terrible.
Sorry, but I really have little interest in dull slapstick with no real Wit. Ed Edd and Eddy was just painful to watch and felt like it insulted the intelligence of it's viewers, Courage was painfully formulaic and seemed to consist of nothing but jokes regarding a poor dog's safety, and Johnny Brovo was just... bland. I used to like that one as a kid but now I watch it and I just can't imagine what it was I found funny about it anymore.

At least Power Puff Girls had some good writing that had a lot of witty humor and tongue in cheek lines like those classic to other WB cartoons such as Pinky and the Brain or Animaniacs.
And for the record, I though Ren and Stimpy was simply horrid. The fact is, that brand of humor is not my taste.

Oh yeah.. Once Tom left the air, it all went downhill. The only show that's on now that I even like is Chowder.. Ben 10 was pretty good at first, but then they made the fucking teenager version, and now he has no character at all.

A few of my most unlikeable shows now are Flapjack, "Adventure Time" (More like Rape Tiem, amirite?), and those fucking imported shows from Teletoon..

Hate em. Hate em all..

Well, yes, cartoon network sucks, but so does 99% of television. You can't blame the network for just trying to fit in.

I do miss Toonami, especially the DCAU, while Bruce Timm makes very good original animated movies, they're not regular enough to distill the current stuff from my mind. In fact there was a lot of good stuff on Toonamu that I loved.

The stuff nower days is low brow to say the least.

Still, I don't mind Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
