True, there are a-lot of bad shows on Cartoon Network (or the CW, as they now call themselves.) But they still show some of the older shows that we grew up on. I still catch Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly dog, and others every now and then. And even if they aren't on Cartoon Network anymore they are still on Boomerang. (They are now showing old Pokemon Episodes on Boomerang! =-D

Another thing that I'd like to point out is that tastes seem to change over time. I'm sure that a-lot of our parents thought the cartoons we watched were stupid, compared to the ones that they watched as children. Maybe the same thing is happening now with the next generation of children.

I just miss Dexter's Laboratory.

Loved that show, when I occasionally see it these days with an older perspective, I find it even funnier- on top of the nostalgia trip

Two words, Adventure Time. BEST SHOW made in america EVER. and only about two of those shows you miss apply to me, and bobbe says got cancelled (I think, haven't heard from it in forever) Destroy build destroy is amusing if you like seeing explosions (they shot a car with a civil war cannon, that was pretty cool) total drama what-the-fuck-ever has been going for a long time now and it won't stop. and dude what would happen was Ok in the first season when the ideas weren't out in motherfucking SPACE.
"what would happen if I was a superhero?"
realistic response "the world would end in a sea of flames you dumbass pot head, now go take a shower!"

show's response " let's set up a stupid situation, then rig the outcome so we all win! YEAH!"

torrent is a god send, I can watch whatever whenever on my PC, I feel like watching some rurouni now, hey look, TORRENT!! yea!
I must admit, Adventure Time tickles my brain in a very pleasant way. Plus, it's got Marcus Fenix/Bender as the dog, so that immediately earns it an enormous amount of points in my book.

ahhh memories, sadly that is all they are since I can't bring myself to look them up online(reason being that it wouldn't be the same). I look back so fondly at those old shows(along with countless others, like Ed, Edd, and Eddy, power puff girls, Samurai Jack, and Johnny Braove) that you reminded me of by showing those promos of shows that aired during the good old days when Cartoon Network wasn't synonymous with shit. I swear if I had died back during the golden era of Cartoon Network when the good shows were still on TV and the Tom from the promo's shown was running Toonami I'd be either rolling in my grave or haunting those basterd executives at CN

Guess I should be happy I don't watch TV anymore, and so did not hear about this sad decline. :(
You've also missed FMA: Brotherhood, so it's a little bit of both good and bad.

Nostalgia maybe clouding my judgment but how is cartoon network now gotten so bad? Was it brought on by the people making choices at the top that completely ignored what people liked to watch when they started making decisions in favor of feeding the octopus that lives in their heads?

Terry: Hey Gonad, People like reality TV show. So lets make a cartoon based on a reality tv show.

Gonad: Alright but lets also make all the characters totally unlikable stereotypes and all the show will try to be is nothing but a poorly made comedy that was written by monkeys who just got done sniffing glue.

Terry: I know were called cartoon network but lets start making live action shit like Nick, Disney, and Discovery channels except all the shows are going to be shitty rip-offs.

Gonad: Wow, I'm not sure how to make that idea any shittier... Oh, we will make all newer cartoons filled with nothing but shitty toilet humor and about Friendship

Seriously how are these good...

Hell i miss watching godd shows like these...
Im sorry im just letting off some pent up frustration after the first time i turn on cartoon network in over a year a find nothing but crap.

Any cartoons you'll miss?
Can anybody explain cartoon network's stupidity?
you enjoy courage the cowardly dog and the quite adult and awesome version of batman. Ah my child hood. Ive managed to catch courage on for some nostalgia once or twice, its always about 12 am or 11 at night for some reason. He will never seen the light of day.

I think it's safe to say, most people here don't fit the demographic for the shows now being shown on Cartoon Network. We're all too old, all of us, unless you aren't a teenager yet.

The thing is, like with Adult Swim, Japanese anime on Cartoon Network has grown increasingly less popular. There are a couple different reasons for that. First, most GOOD anime is made for adults. Even Naruto (and on occasion, even Pokemon) is edited for content. Secondly, out of all the anime produced by Japan, only a small portion is decent at best, and an even smaller portion is palatable for American audiences.

As for shows like Dexter and others, I wish they'd bring them back too, but if you know anything about television, you'd understand there is only so much versatility in a single show before it starts getting stale. With the attention span of kids, yes even me and you when we were kids, if it's not cutting edge all of the time, they change the channel. What does actually suck is that kids' viewing patterns tend to come from their parents. If their parents watch reality shows, the kids want to watch their own version of reality shows. Except, the good thing is they aren't the same in the traditional sense. The reality shows for kids are more like game shows, like the stuff Marc Summers used to host way back when.

TL;DR version: If you want good cartoons back on Cartoon Network, make them yourself.

Well, I rember having this same conversation when I was your (posted) ages around when all those shows were coming out talking about how ronin warriors, thunder cats, transformers, and the looney toon old pig and duck skits (porky and daffy is the best damn cartoons ever. Go watch the robin hood episode if you haven't RIGHT NOW) were gone and all this tiny toons crap (in retrospect a decent show at times) is out and about. Not to mention the lesser mess of captain planet, he-man g.i. joe etc. Then eventually cartoon network happened and we got dexters lab and things of equally great quality while it lasted. Just give it time folks. Your just now hitting this eras equivalent of "Family Double Dare" in the middle of your cartoon day.

EDIT: To date myself, I am young enough to have gotten excited whenever I saw an episode of the REAL ghostbusters cartoon but old enough to go spastic over the "Collect Call of Cthulu" episode.

Cartoon Network is going down the same dark road as MTV, they've started sacking off quality shows for cheaply made pop culture rip offs and there slowly starting to sneak in live action shows that are little better than web shows. they even made there own version of MTV 2, Does Boomerang ring a bell?
your dead wrong brother, you must not remember well cause I recall Boomarang being around long before Toonami died and CN turned into a cesspool for shitty animation and crap ratings grabbers. Back then(and still now) Boomarang introduced me to the kinda of shows that my parents grew up watching. Point of my rant being they didn't create Boomarang solely to be thier version of MTV2, even though thats what its become now
