Thanks for the info, I'm gonna pirate this game now.

Fucking Infinity Ward, trying to fuck over the PC market. Alot of the things they are taking away are the reasons why I prefer PC gaming. the challenge, Clan servers AND THE MODS!!! =[

*Takes MW 2 off my purchase list*
yeah well said. I'd consider piracy at this stage, if I could dl torrents at uni that is.
Just thought I'd share this with you. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ATVI

About 19 thousand people cancelled their pre-orders.
awesome. still tons of ppl will buy it.

this sounds perfectly fair to me, especially no mods etc
dont like the password thing though, i can see me browsing the servers for ages looking for games with more than 4 people in that arent password only :(
I have been proven wrong, as i thought mods mainly applied to cheating, being a mainly console-based gamer
apologies

At the risk of sounding insane to you... Why?

Considering you're buying the game, why shouldn't you have control over it...?

but what good can winning be if you have an artificial advantage over everyone else?
thats like claiming victory over some shepherds with ak 47s when you have a global superpower behind you...
oh

but im not an intense pc gamer, so this might be different to others

People are not complaining about being forced to play against similar skilled players but about having to play according to IW's settings, for instance some servers may disable sniper rifles for people who don't like snipers, with matchmaking and with having no choice over servers and the ability to join dedicated servers this (and a lot more) won't be possible.

I think you're confusing mods and cheats... "Mods" is short for modifications. For instances, custom content like player-made maps and skins, or custom settings like "no grenades", "bigger player capacity" and such... Or even entirely new game modes, like someone did a version of "Zombie panic" for CoD4.

When scrolling through this thread, all I saw was complaining, people asking questions about dedicated servers and why they're important, and then jackasses pretending that they're better than people for what they use to play games.
I'm disappointed.
Sure, it might be terrible that you can't have dedicated servers or mods, but does that mean that you have to be elitist jerks?
Apparently so.
Everyone is an asshole when they are pissed off. IW is screwing with PC gaming's culture and that is a damn shame.

To be fair, these "questions" were hidden between statements dismissing the issue and smartass comments telling people to quit whining.

Why should anyone even want the PC version if they're going to do this?
I mean, why even bother buying something if you can't even use it as your own product?

Definatly buying Assassin's Creed 2 first, now.

Well I was gonna upgrade my PC before purchasing MW2 so I could enjoy playing it online with full GFX settings, but it looks like I wont be enjoying online play at all if that's what theyre doing to it.

I mean, matchmaking?! I dont wana play against people with similar skill. I wana kick n00b ass, and then get pwnt by some guy who spends is whole life on the game. Thats all part of the fun. And I wana choose the servers I play on, not have it picked for me. I mean that was the reason I got a PC in the first place, for the freedom they offer in online play. *sadface*

I'll get it for the SP, but the MP does sound pretty iffy. Fuck it, I might as well get a PS3...

Man sounds bad for the pc players but us xbox ones will be ok. Any way no matter what way the game is IW will do good for us they know this is the biggest game to come out this year and if it goes wrong it could be the end of call of duty after the last game call of duty WAW was bad the only thing I think that made that game playable was the zombies mode.
I don't see why people claim WaW was bad, its was the exact same game, just different time periods
well it is the same game but the online play is not as fast and the maps are just to open makes the game more for campers but I will say that it would of been good if there was more closed area maps.
Well then that makes the only real difference that you can kill most WaW campers with a long range rifle and most CoD4 campers with grenades. Yes by your logic the major difference is the distance at which your camped.

Was going to buy this on PC but wont if this is true. Games like TF2 work through steam use VAC etc. but still allow dedicated and custom servers.

This is a massive dump on PC gaming, trying to make online gaming as crap as on consoles is not cool.
Word. They want to kill our trusty PC online gaming.

If a company wants to retain full control over their product, why not let them?
Because when we buy it, we pay for it, so it's OURS. I'm not going to pay a shitload of money to have to put up with someone's bullshit because they want to have the crackers they sell you eaten by you and only you and they forbid you to drink your own milk while you eat them.

If the 360 gamers can deal with it so can you. It's not the end of the world.
You do realize, that you're basically saying: If the 3rd world country-people can put up with week without food, than you should be able put up with it, too.
