I love that film, and apart from the lack of fairies, you've hit the nail on the head. The underlying plot is practically the same as that film.uBert said:Does anyone remember Fern Gully?

I am reminded of when Briney Spears first permeated our culture with the stink of her dancing lip-synching jailbait act. It was so cliched and so widespread that to talk about how much she sucked became a cliche. Kind of like Halo fanboys. Now, before y'all flame me, I'm only talking about the morons who picked up gaming just in time for Halo and have no awareness that science fiction, religious wars, space marines and the like existed long before the folks at Bungie were conceived, and also have no idea how derivative the series is. So it's become so much of a cliche that I feel cliche even discussing how useless these idiots are.Saucycardog said:http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/701803/James-Cameron-Strikes-Back-At-Halo-Fans-Criticizing-Avatar.html
James Cameron recently said in an interview that halo fanboys need to stop trashing his latest movie Avatar. He says that they keep complaining about Avatar being too much like Halo and he that he copied the series.
I couldn't have said it any better myself. Cameron has had the idea of Avatar since 1996.
Also to add to that the Covenant were the evil invaders while in this it is a role reversal.orangeapples said:Covenant didn't fight with spears and giant lizards. halo fanboy fail.
If all Halo fans weren't 12 and actually saw aliens, things would probably be differant.bobknowsall said:The Halo fanboys should know to keep quiet, considering how much the Halo series borrowed from Aliens, one of James Cameron's best-known films (and made over 20 years ago, to boot). Not that borrowing from Aliens is a bad thing, as it's a great bit of SF action. But claiming that Cameron is then stealing from Halo is just roaringly stupid.
I agree with him.Mazty said:Well the internet is made up of f**king idiots, so this isn't a surprise, least of all from fanboys.
Oh and by the way, anyone going on about Pocahontas- shut the f**k up, you are an idiot. Why not just say anything with tribes in is the same film? Dancing like Wolves, Last of the Mohicans, Pocahontas, The Mission etc are all similar in a very loose sense. Same with Avatar. If you really want to be unique, don't be a 'tard going with a tongue-in-cheek South Park reference.
Ha, ha, ha!ShadowKatt said:So does that mean I need to worry about my Avatar disc attacking my Halo games while I'm not home?
Ha ha, kidding. I don't own a 360. I'm a real gamer.
Lawl newb dats 2 wordz LAWL! XBOX360 RULEZ!!!!!! XDshadow741 said:3 words: fanboys are dumbarses
That happened? D:slowpoke999 said:It's like when Halo fanboys accused Half-Life of being a rip-off to.
Yeah, you might have a point there. The vocal members of Halo's fanbase are too young and/or stupid to think that Halo might have been influenced by other works of SF. The moderate and intelligent ones (of which there are a decent few, let's be fair) accept it and just don't bother commenting on any similarities. They don't care about the similarities between a game and a film because they've got other things to be thinking about.Irridium said:If all Halo fans weren't 12 and actually saw aliens, things would probably be differant.bobknowsall said:The Halo fanboys should know to keep quiet, considering how much the Halo series borrowed from Aliens, one of James Cameron's best-known films (and made over 20 years ago, to boot). You should watch MovieBob's review on Avatar, he mentions "Dances with Wolves" and I think you'd quite enjoy it due to the fact that noticing that Dances with Wolves has the same basic story as Avatar does not make you observant [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/1333-Avatar].madcap2112 said:Not to mention that the basic idea of Avatar is basically the same as Pocahantas or Dances With Wolves. It's an old story in a shiny new 3D wrapper. But I don't blame him for criticizing the fanboys; Halo is not the Alpha and Omega of entertainment.
You realize the Halo fanbase will complain about anything. 7 year olds enjoy complaining.SantoUno said:I'm surprised how everyone here quickly dismisses and insults the fanboys when there is one question: Who the hell said that Halo fans were criticizing Avatar? I sure have never seen or read anything like that.
Sounds completely made up.
He was actually referring to Aliens, not Avatar itself.Saucycardog said:http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/701803/James-Cameron-Strikes-Back-At-Halo-Fans-Criticizing-Avatar.html
