Well, either way I think everyone needs to shut up about Avatar anyway. And Halo, for that matter. James Cameron is a genius, don't get me wrong, but why does anyone care? Like, at all? If Halo fanboys want to continue bawing about there favorite little smear of mediocrity being ripped, then let them. All fanboys are made of fail, especially Halo fanboys.

Oh, and pointing out that Avatar has basically the same plot as Dancing With Wolves, thank you captain obvious. We all caught then when South Park spoofed it, thanks.

And come to think of it the warthog is a lot like that vehicle in the flashbacks out of Terminator.

I think when one artform copies another it is a sign of respect that an idea is good.

So wait. The Halo fanboys are crying foul because ONE AIRCRAFT in Avatar resembles ONE AIRCRAFT in the Halo series. Let's have a look at this, shall we?

Halo's AV-14 "Hornet":

Avatar's SA-2 "Samson": (best picture I could find, sorry)

Only vaguely similar. I'd say the Samson more resembles a V-22 Osprey [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-22_Osprey] in function and a Huey helicopter [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UH-1_Iroquois] in form, being a weapons platform as well as a transport craft. The Hornet seems more like an attack craft that soldiers can ride on (being very exposed if they do so).

when i played Halo 1, and i saw the ammo count LED lights on the assault rifle, it made me think of Aliens.

it is a shame when someone is inspired by some one elses creation, everyone screams "RIP OFF"

I fail to see how Avatar is anything like halo. I've only played Halo 3, but still.

They both have humans, aliens, weapons and aircraft so it's a blatant rip-off. Like durr!

On a more serious note (completely unrelated to Beebo's comment): Most Halo fanboys are too young to watch the Aliens series. So you may have to take that into consideration before criticising them. Just sayin'.

I don't think they suck, but I don't think they're fantastic either.

The visual design in Avatar didn't feel to dissimilar than that of the commen JRPG.
Technically it was superb, but visually.......meh.

OT: Realistically though, neither Avatar or Halo are really original to begin with.

If the only btch is with the hardware then they ned to realize Cameron did it first with Aliens. Most of the gear in Halo is pretty much borrowed from the Colonial Marines; from the drop ship to the assault rifles (though the M41A1 is waaaaaaaaay cooler, I'm guessing the integral GL was dropped to streamline programming).

If you're going to comlain about Avatar then at least gripe about the weak characters and that it took 3 hours to tell a 30 minute story. Wait, Halo fans, riiiiiiiiiiight...

Not to mention that the basic idea of Avatar is basically the same as Pocahantas or Dances With Wolves. It's an old story in a shiny new 3D wrapper. But I don't blame him for criticizing the fanboys; Halo is not the Alpha and Omega of entertainment.
