I am at the point where I think it doesn't matter what the tsunami was. I'm currently more concerned about relief efforts and the power plant that seems to be on the verge of decimating square miles with the explosion alone.
It won't explode, worst case scenario is a leak that gives people about as much radiation as most medical scans.
Great. We won't be seeming people turning into two-headed monkeys with three d@#$s. :) But that still leaves relief efforts. What is he doing for his people?

Well considering that tsunami means "divine wind" and the story behind the tsunami, I'm not at all surprised that he thinks that.

I think it's sad that he believes it's a form of punishment though, no one deserved that. No one.
I think Kamikaze is "divine wind", tsunami means "big wave"
Shit you are correct, sorry about that.

I really shouldn't post when I'm really tired.

Hah, nope, asinine.

I'm reliably informed that god works in mysterious ways. Earthquakes are, in fact, not mysterious or subtle, and quite overt in methodology. If god wants to go punish some country in an obvious way, let's hear it done Moses-style. I want frogs and I want big flaming letters proclaiming "YES, IT WAS ME." IN SPACE for all to see. Otherwise, it wasn't god.

(This does not in any way mean that I want Japan to suffer in a Moses-style with the plagues of Egypt. It was merely a refuge in audacity.)

i hate to say it, but, sadly, the older japanese people gotta hurry up and die!
I don't mean this to be mean, but it seems like a lot of the older generation of japanese people have some very skewed opinions on subjects, in such a way rivaling fundamentalist christian fanatics!

*sigh* why won't stupid people just die...

The video is poor quality I know, but its the best I could find. And yes, I'm very aware that the video title sounds like something right out of a sci-fi novel, its up to your discretion to believe it or not.
Looks at video (sigh). I counter with this...

and this...

Also the term "Planet X" has been used since the search for Pluto:

Thanks for the articles, an interesting read and it certainly makes more sense than the video I linked, I kinda felt that the explanation in the video I linked made the galaxy seem way too small for what it really is. Unfortunately Hulu does not work in Australia, probably something to do with copyright or something, if you can find the video on youtube I'd be grateful for a link, I'm always curious about these kinds of things and love to learn about the universe we live in.

Honestly the only creepy and supernatural seeming aspect of the entire thing is how this disaster is coming on the heels of so many other ones.
Funny you should mention that, there is a scientific explanation for that, if you are willing to look deep enough for it. Here's the best video I could find to describe why so much is going down lately, you only need to watch the first four minutes or so and you can ignore the whole "planet X" thing since there is still no proof it exists. (and personally, i think we'd have found it by now if it did, but thats just my opinion)

...and thanks for scaring me crapless.
Meh, don't be. Right when they brought in the Mayan talk it was clear they cared more about ratings and what would capture the viewers attention than boring science.
Edit: Someone posted a article here disproving it too...

He's a minister, of course he's going to cope with the disaster in some religious manner, don't act so surprised.

When I read the title of this thread, I immediately knew it was Shintaro Ishihara. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shintar%C5%8D_Ishihara]

He's a piece of shit far right ultranationalist known for publicly making racist statements, sexist statements ("old women who live after they have lost their reproductive function are useless and are committing a sin,"), denying and whitewashing genocide, and constantly embarrassing the Japanese people.

I don't know how he stays in power after making his constituents look so bad time and time again.

You do by chance know he said "Prime Minister", as in a head of the government, NOT "minister" as in the head of a church

Edit: huh, he actually he never said 'Prime' minister..
oh well, it should be implied,

I find it really annoying that when something bad like this happens people automatically jump to the conclusion that it's god punishing people for whatever reason.

Yeah someone already pointed that out, and I felt like an idiot when he did. Thanks though.

Should never post when I'm tired.

I Can't find anything on YouTube. Try this:

Also for good humor:

What I especially liked about this video was he actually drops a good nugget or two about what the Mayans really think.

I'm not gonna say whether or not the Tsunami (or any of the other natural disasters that have been happening recently) are divine punishment or not, but I think that everyone discounting it is a bit judgemental. If a God does exist, I think he'd have a right to be angry, and if a God doesn't exist, then this is a natural tragedy that happens because mother earth is a *****. I'm getting really tired of holier-than-thou Atheists making fun of people because they have a belief other than the Atheistic belief. How about actually trying to understand what the other side has to say and realizing that their viewpoint is just as valid as yours before jumping on the intollerance train.

Just goes to show that no matter how advanced we become there are always some nuts with power that can make bullshit comments like his. In a time like this, the Japanese people don't need this bullshit, they need relief and assistance if they are willing to accept it.

Really makes you wonder what other groups of religions or nations are being misrepresented by moronic "nutbars" like him.

Just asking...

OT:
Guy is a moron...but he's not alone.
It is in God's nature to make us miserable and God never changes :p
I thought that was war.
Hmm... if all of god's decisions could be predicted before hand is he no different from a computer? Anyways, your probably right.

Edit: I think the difference between natural disaster and war is that humans have a choice (or at least the illusion of one) but a natural disaster is a reaction in appropriate circumstances so that is why I said this...

Edit 2: If humans truly don't have free will is war a natural disaster?
