Ishihara Ishihara Ishihara-- -that- is Ishihara, and, quite frankly, he is a bastard. In all due respect, feel free to disregard all he spouts and says.
I can confirm this. This is the same guy who thinks homosexuality is a genetic defect, and wants to censor anime which depicts anything he deems unnatural, while he doesn't care if any other medium depicts the very same content. So long as it's not anime.

There ain't a sensible person left who still likes this guy, and a lot of us anime fans are frankly disappointed that the disaster didn't take him away too.
I don't feel right wishing for a man's death, but in Ishihara's case, I kind of do.

Don't forget the bit where he writes rape novels before and after deeming Anime and Manga unsafe for the youth, and his novels are readily available to all ages. He literally makes no sense to me.

Oh, dear. Someone's been listening to the idiots on facebook and twitter that are claiming that "the earthquake & tsunami being Japan's comeuppance for pearl harbor" a bit too closely.

And if you're in the group of people making that point, consider:

Between the war being fought in the middle east, and the nuking of hiroshima just to name a few incidents, America has a massive amount of bad karma that needs resolving. If this is Japan's comeuppance for pearl harbor, America's comeuppance for all it's questionable actions will truly be a sight to behold.

Huh, we should just get Pat Robertson and this dude their own tiny private island somewhere and drop them off with only a single gun and a weeks' supply of food.

I dunno what's worse. Him, or the Americans saying "Remember Pearl Harbour? Go tsunami, go!"

It's shit like this that only furthers my hope that the 2012 fanatics have some shred of credibility.

They used to say the Black Plague was punishment from God too... How little things change.

Yes. Japan is, of course, the worst country in the world and would be God's first point of explosive wrath out of all other countries in the world.

Praise the lawd.

Right right "wash away their selfish greed"

Translation: Don't expect your government to help you recover your losses, I mean government assistance to help rebuild the house you lost is just too much to ask.

I think he should lead by example. Why doesn't he start by cutting back on his own luxuries?

You've forgotten Europe during the Black Plague. This isn't the first time this has happened, to say nothing of the bible and the story of Noah.
I thought people got smarter over time...
But yes; you can expect people like this to jump out of everywhere to say such things.

He's managed to get away with a hell of a lot already. Maybe they keep him in there for the entertainment value, like "Oh man, I can't wait to see what hijinks that whacky Ishihara gets up to this week!"

I think your translation may actually be the most accurate one yet.

Perhaps but he's just basically said that the japanese people are scum and that those that died deserved it, if he isn't kicked out I would expect to see a shitstorm of argry people, possibly those that have lost family members, trying to do something about him.

If he isn't removed I honestly expect someone to try and remove him.

When I read the title of this thread, I immediately knew it was Shintaro Ishihara. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shintar%C5%8D_Ishihara]

He's a piece of shit far right ultranationalist known for publicly making racist statements, sexist statements ("old women who live after they have lost their reproductive function are useless and are committing a sin,"), denying and whitewashing genocide, and constantly embarrassing the Japanese people.

I don't know how he stays in power after making his constituents look so bad time and time again.
Yep Ishihara strikes again. My question is why is he still in office? Why do people vote for him. How long is his term?. He will always have my hate for the new anime rules he put in and the underhand way he got them on the books.

Oh, Ishihara is just a collosal douchebag; please do take anything he says with a grain of salt. Remember, this is the man who spouts openly aggressive homophobic, racist and just plain backwards attacks to the media like its a bodily function.

He's had a strong grip on Tokyo for years, and when his best competition have been people like Koichi Toyama (who is awesome, but not exactly comforting to a conservative populace) it comes as little surprise. However, with perceived political threats such as Higashikokubara emerging, he's started backflipping on a lot of issues and saying absolutely bizarre things.

I'm honestly beginning to suspect he knows everyone knows he's a douche, and is now taking George Costanza logic and saying the opposite to everything he thinks. And managing to gaffe that up to boot. Pay no attention to the madman. Nor his son.

Well, one can hope that someone has enough sense to do something about him. I swear it's almost like he WANTS someone to just stand up and remove him from office. That or he's just going senile, I really can't imagine any sane man saying the things he does and actually meaning them.
