I have no respect for people who blame god, sins or anything of the sort on a disaster you could in no way avoid or really accurately predict.

If humans made a dam, let the dam fall into disrepair... well its the peoples fault.

If a tidal wave springs up and floods your city, GUYS we pretty much proven if there is a god his laws, rules and sins were made by man...

And you looking at nudie photos, rubbing one off, or eating red meat on friday... god doesn't care.

It's that pathetic, religious justification of just bad crap happens to the invisible man in the sky waggling a finger at you. There is no need or reason to bring blame on people who can not control it.

Grow up, it's 2011, we don't need Oug the Lightning god to explain natural storms. We don't need divine anger to force our ways as human beings anymore. That is to help shape a society and scare them into morality... today a tidal wave is explainable and it's not your arrogant, pride, masturbation or porn that caused it.
and boom goes the dynamite.
*tips hat* kudos to you sir

Cataclysms bring out the dumbest in us, yes? His claim gets to be disingenuous when you consider that Japan has problems like the tsunami (Not on the same scale mind) almost all the fucking time. Comes with being an island nation. Tsunamis, volcanoes, hurricanes, tourists, all sorts of horrible natural disasters happening on practically a yearly basis.

I'm more annoyed by this article: http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=mother-nature-demands-respect-2011-03-14

Apparently Mother Nature is punishing us like some kind of deity. I mean, I support environmental science but this 'Gaia worship' is just silly. Michael Crichton made good points about certain environmental groups as religions, with their own concept of original sin (i.e. agriculture, very much like Rousseau), moral teachings attached to random events, and a karmatic deity. Build your environmentalism on science, not nonsense.

Although I'm not surprised to hear it from this one it still makes me sad that people actually think this. I knew it was coming but still I'm just....bleh....sick of it. I know it's only a few people who could actually ever think/believe this but the fact that it would ever cross someones mind is saddening.

Oh, dear. Someone's been listening to the idiots on facebook and twitter that are claiming that "the earthquake & tsunami being Japan's comeuppance for pearl harbor" a bit too closely.

And if you're in the group of people making that point, consider:

Between the war being fought in the middle east, and the nuking of hiroshima just to name a few incidents, America has a massive amount of bad karma that needs resolving. If this is Japan's comeuppance for pearl harbor, America's comeuppance for all it's questionable actions will truly be a sight to behold.
Yeah I agree, it would be a sight indeed. I stated a similar view on a thread talking directly about the issue of it being revenge for pearl harbor, though I didn't word it quite so well. So good gob, I applaud you on that.

OT: I don't much pay attention to ignorant people, except on the occasion I point out some hypocrisy in what they say (an example would be religious fanatics). From what I read on the guy he sounds like an ass. He's suppose to represent his people, but when you say: "that we deserved this" it doesn't come off in anyway good. Gives people the impression that you want them to suffer.

I bet the Japanese just fucking love him after that statement.

I'm just gonna go with my usual suspect and blame the chaotic nature of the universe on natural disasters.

Things like this just make me laugh. So many times I see people say how advanced we are and how far we've come, and then things like this come along. Humanity, advanced? Don't make me laugh. We just have some shiny toys, but there still are people walking about believing in this sort of crap, going on witchhunts and killing 'vampires'. Yay for the 21st century!

There's always one idiot who says stuff like this. Like Westboro Baptist Church.
But Westboro Baptist Church members aren't in the government. He is.

So why is God punishing the Japanese?
O.O
Don't tell me, is this because Nintendo made two shitty consoles in a row? I knew they would make the gods angry after creating the Wii. Especially Gordan Freeman, the god of games. Now this whole thing makes sense. Quick make a sacrifice, Metroid; Other M must burn! And Square Enix too (cuz I know they pissin someone off).

Sigh.. I really feel it's up to each and everyone what they believe, but I do wish they could keep their beliefs out of state matters.. I can't think of a single case where religion has been a benefit to a government..
