To save time, I'll copy the description from this video. Don't watch it if your day hasn't already been ruined.

Aransas County Court-At-Law Judge William Adams took a belt to his own teenage daughter as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time. She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father's backwards views. The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist. Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can't even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His "judgement" is a giant farce.
Now, this happened in 2004, and she says she was recently verbally abused by her father and snapped, deciding to upload this after 7 years.

She asked Reddit to help [http://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/lwurz/family_law_judge_beats_own_daughter_for_using_the/], and HOLY SHIT this douchenozzle's days are numbered. So, sit back and enjoy the internet superheroes or submit it to your local news if you live in Texas (especially in/near Rockport).

I have no idea if under the law in that area at that time he had the right to use a belt. If he did, while I don't agree with what he did, it was her choice to punish her for breaking the law. Certainly a judges daughter breaking the law is not a ood thing.

If he wasn't legally allowed to use that kind of force, why would she upload it instead of handing it over to the authorities to have him criminally charged?

As for the wife, she is 100% responsible for what she did. Any excuses she has are BS, as proven by the fact she was inisting on helping with the beating even though her husband wanted to handle it.
You read my mind. There's a lot missing here.

I didn't watch the video (i've had a good day) where exactly did he hit her with the belt? If on the rear, I'm pretty sure it's legal. Anywhere else, doubt it.

Whipping your own paralyzed daughter? Doesn't get much lower than that.

She was struggling, so there was no clear shot on her behind. He got her on the thighs and the arms from what I saw, but I didn't watch the whole thing.

Wait that guy could be reinstated, WHY ISN'T HE IN JAIL?

Atleast last time I checked beating people up with belts was still against the law.

Seven years after the fact? I don't think any states have a statute of limitations that long.

This sounds like really good election smearing though, so kudos to the person running against this guy.

This bastard is scum who deserves nothing less than to rot in prison, as does his wife for not even TRYING to put a stop to it.

Well I'm on anti-depressants. Haven't had a purely "good day" for about a year and a half.

*watches*

Ah... this is the sort of reason I'm on them...

Not physical violence (as my dad's a pathetic ex-military drunk and I'd win as he taught me all his tricks while sober...) but verbal degrading, soul destroying comments.

Yeah... if I'd inherited the psychopath gene off of my mums side of the family he'd be dead now... and so would the man shown.

Beating does nothing good to a person... the very best it can do is to give them a beacon of what they should never become.

Oh really? Didn't know that. Crimes against kids (if this was a crime) get time limit extentions in Canada. A couple years back they sent some 80 year old to prision for raping his daughters 50 years earlier.
Apparently Texas has such a thing, five years for a non-felony injury to a child[footnote]http://blog.austindefense.com/2005/04/articles/other-texas-statutes/article-1201-felonies-texas-code-of-criminal-procedure/[/footnote] instead of two for an adult.

I'm not sure, but there might be something extra for parents/guardians. I know some places have the statutes set up so they don't begin until after the 18th birthday. Quick GoogleFu shows Texas does this only for felonies.

If this is felony assault, then I'm a street smart hippo. So she's still short by two years.

I'm not endorsing what he did, I think any punishment using an object is wrong, but the video demonstrates she is not paralyzed.
Actually its stated that she has Cerebral Palsy so even if she isnt paralyzed she would have issues with motor function and muscle movement.

Oh, interesting fact.

Texas has the lowest splitting up of families in the USA from child protection services.

It also has the highest death rate of children due to domestic abuse in the USA... hmmm... I wonder why...
