How many more of these threads are we going to have - there's an updated newsroom story at this time - enough...
Seriously this shit is getting old. Keep it in the newsroom threads instead of spamming the boards with this bullshit.
I agree. This is possibly the fourth or fifth thred (Including the news room one) about this. If you want to talk about this, do it on the news room thread, at least that one's constantly updated.

Today pop culture weeps. Ferrah Fawcet loses her fight with cancer, and Michael Jackson dies of cardiac arrest.
Ok lets be honest with both their washed up carreers its not that big of a blow...Now switch these names with Paul McCartney and David Bowie and we have a situation.
I would weep if that happened.

I already know about Jackson, but who's Ferrah Fawcet?
Some bimbo who did nothing for the world. Seriously these threads remind me why I hate humanity. While people are being killed and imprisoned in Iran people are saying that because MJ died it should be a date that should live in infamy. In the words of Rambo, "Fuck the World." Seriously this shit is so stupid it isn't even funny.

I have never heard of Ferra Fawcet and i hated Michael Jackson.
This day may be remembered by a few, but it will not live in infamy. Days like december 7th 1941 and 9/11 will live in infamy.
2 famous people died. Why are their deaths so much more important than other peoples?
Oh, they're not.

I don't see why people are making such a big of this still.
He died like, half an hour ago.
Get over it already. You didn't even know him.
I did.

According to the masses, because they're famous.
Please note that I do not share it's point of view.

If you're so obsessed with pop culture that you compare the death of one man to some of the most devastating events in history, then you obviously have some serious issues.
Are you retarded, inbred or both?

Who, me?
That's kind of unnecessary, don't you think?

My ancestry really isn't of debate here, and neither is my intelligence.

Got some "BAD" news, Michael Jackson's heart just doesn't "BEAT IT" anymore. We should "REMEMBER THE TIME" when he was a "SMOOTH CRIMINAL" and not question if he's either "BLACK OR WHITE". He had a "DANGEROUS" heart failure and now he's "GONE TOO SOON". He said to his heart "DON'T STOP TILL YOU GOT ENOUGH", but now he's "HIStory".

Alot of people go through cancer, her story is not unique in any way and the only reason it comes accross as relevant is because she was a Charlie's Angel and movie actress, unimportant people go through worse yet their stories are never told, so don't lecture me about how wonderful any celebrity is.
See, that's what I pointed out to a group of (retarded) friends on Facebook. But they say because they were entertainers, they should be missed as they were loved. I pointed out they did it for profit, but no ones understands. I'm so confused. How do I point out how dumb their views are? Sure, dying is bad...but they're not much more important.

It may not be a day of infamy to you and I, yet to many others it is. To those obsessed with pop culture, this is their Pearl Harbor or 9/11.

And future comments: please consider how others would feel in a situation, you won't come off as such a cynical person.
Yes, but isn't it just a bit pretentious to compare the death of thousands of people (many who were innocent civilians) to two celebrities that were undoubtedly past their "golden age"?

They passed peacefully; leave it at that. And we'll always have their work to remember them by.

Why do we have to weep for cleberities....and why are media outlets making the biggest of deals out it Farrah had cancer a treatable yet terminal disease and it got the best of her killing her it's a disease and that happens to many a peoples. Michael Jackson, a black man, big star in the 70's with his family and controlling stage-dad in The Jackson 5, and in the 80's by himself. When the 90's rolled around he turned white, had sex with little kids "supposedly" and went crazy moving to the middle east. Doesnt bother me in the least of ways they're not my relavtives or a close friend...again tell me why i should care?

Because celebrities that die/get hurt/do anything ever are merely icons for us to project our empathies, fears and desires onto. When they die, we find a common issue that helps us deal with a similar issue in our lives, through group empathy and mourning.

That's what I think anyway.
