My mum is with a dude in his early twenties. She is in her mid fourties.
This does not seem strange to me at all. And why would it?
Age is just an arbitrary number. If two people are into each other, who gives a fuck about the age difference?
Unless, of course, we are talking like thirty year old dudes and kids in their mid teens. Then things start getting creepy.
Age is not arbitrary, it has proper meaning. It is not up to opinion wether someone is 50. they either are or aren't. There is an objective distinction that there is a large gap here relative to the norm. As such is not a typical relationship and thus should not be hard to understand the shock it can cause.
I don't know who the hell says that - if I see a man marrying a girl 35 years younger than him, I'm going to think that's just as creepy as a woman doing the same thing. There's absoloutely nothing sexist about this concept - it's creepy when it happens in both situations. It just so happens that, historically speaking, its more common for older men to marry significantly younger women.Eleima said:It's just one of many, many examples. Why is it that women marrying very younger men is so much more horrid than the reverse (older men marrying younger women)? When that happens, all anyone ever says is, "oh good for him, he still has the stamina to handle that hot, young model". Just sayin'.SonicKoala said:You mean that thing that happened 13 years ago? Yeah, I wonder why people aren't still in an uproar about that....Eleima said:Now I'm not saying that this is right or wrong, but a thought occurs:
Funny how this has you all in an uproar, and yet when Woody Allen marries a woman 35 years younger than him, nobody bats an eye...
