Incidentally, the Daily Mail's article tearing into it is hilarious. I believe the term for it would be 'Completely missing the point'.

Here we go

Once again, the Daily Mail proves their ability to link absolutely anything to paedophilia, knife crime and Jamie Bolger. Paranoid rubbish, but hilarious.

I love the verdict they give it. "Verdict: Evil"
The guy who wrote this article (Christopher Tookey) has some series issues, he needs to get laid or something because he clearly only has one thing on his mind. It was like every second sentence ended with him saying something was sexual. He really must not have been watching the same movie I was because I only saw one arousing scene and that was when the protagonist was getting ready to apply fake tan to the girl.

Fantastic film, loved the whole thing. Seen it twice in the cinema so far, and plan to buy the DVD and watch it repeatedly.

Me and my friends went into the film expecting a good, violent film, but we weren't expecting the fantastic and surprisingly sad story line, the amazing fight scenes, and the brilliant acting by a cast that you can tell were enjoying themselves immensely

I really wouldn't. It's sentimental trash, so 'heartwarming' it'll make you sick. You'd hardly believe it's made by the same guy who made Trainspotting. The day that got 8 Oscars was the day that I totally lost faith in the Academy awards.
Is is that sickly sweet? My sister told me something about a scene with a kid having acid poured in his eyes?

I read the comics and saw the movie.... and I liked both. Liberties were had, but the same basic story was there. Sometimes word for word.

Great film. I dig it.

Uhm, you guys did know this was a comic right? A great, great comic. And I like seeing people's reactions after seeing it without knowing about the comic. They get so shocked at all the good violent and dramatic scenes, expecting a light hearted Superbad-esque comedy.

So how close was it to the comic/graphic novel?

EDIT: NVM answer is directly above me. I will be watching this soon

I love the comments under that Daily Mail article. Not one person is agreeing with the reviewer and then, underneath all the comments, it says, "We are no longer taking comments on this article." By the looks of it, they actually locked the article because nobody was agreeing with it.

Gota love it!

Yep.

If the reviewer saw a sexualised youngster in Hit Girl, he's been watching too many Hentai movies.

I have a poster of Hit Girl on my wall. =-D

I loved this film. I read a few of the comics, and always thought that they had MASSIVE potential.

The thought of that guy's bosses getting on to him, and possibly forcing counseling, makes me feel warm and giddy inside. Chalk up a rare win for the infamous Comments Section.

Well, I wasn't expecting it to be as violent as it was, but damn it, it was fun as hell and a nice affront to good taste. Very well directed too. Much better than a lot of recent movies with the same concepts. I think it succeeded mainly because it was so violent, it actually satisfied the audience in that regard.

...

I have to take a moment to compose myself here.... hmmmm...

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!! That review wass just, God, I don't think I can begin to describe the idiocy. And there's a video supplement. This I have to see.

Kick Ass is the best film I've seen in years, the fact it's a completely independant film in the hands of a genius and that it's broken so many "cinematic tabbos" makes it so. And the guy goes on about the hype, this is ridiculous, I personally heard nothing about it until I was deciding whether to go see that or Clash of the Titans. (I chose the better of the two obviously.)

I conclude with LOLs and this piccy..

Not really... they have shut down the comments section.

Ignorant, hyperbolic propaganda followed by censorship... gotta love the Daily Mail!

While weaker than the somewhat similar Zombieland, it was a lot of fun and i greatly enjoyed it.

I expected it to be more of a deconstruction of comic cliches, but instead it turns gradually from somewhat believable to completely over-the-top hilarious, pointing out the absurd nature of superheroes almost incidentially.
While that certainly sacrificed having a straight style, it's a fun concept.

But what really did it for me were the action scenes. It's like a toybox of action, with anything from somewhat believable brawls to John Woo Wire-Action, and it was so varied and yet awesomely executed with every new setpiece that it leads me to think that Kick-Ass will at least deliver the best action of 2010.

Overall, quirky crazy fun.

......And now i want to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World even more. DAMN!

That's just probably damage control. I'm sure his bosses shut it down because people were bashing his review and they realized this guy was a hack.

At least, that what I'm hoping happened.

It's definitely made it's way into my top 5 favourite movies. The perfect mix of action and comedy, in my opinion.

The daily mail review is hilarious, especially when all the comments are calling the reviewer out as an idiot, followed by a little text box at the bottom stating "We are no longer accepting comments on this article"...priceless :D

Really? I never really took away anything "heartwarming" from Slumdog. It has what some might consider a "happy ending", but so much bad shit happens to the main characters throughout the film, it's not exactly what I would call sentimental trash.

The Mails review was terrible, the person reviewing it must of been 90 years old.

Im going to see it soon and cannot wait.
