but yea, it's been said before, people are idiots, principals a *****, and the mom's a fool for thinking of suing. Poor kid though, he honestly thought he did something wrong.

The principal is ridiculous. If the kid brought a BB gun, or an air soft or even a paint ball gun, okay. But its a plastic made in China toy! Should the kid have brought it to school? No. Should the principal have reacted differently? Yes. "Put it away" is more appropriate. But the mom should sue the principal over such a stupid incident. "I'm sueing because he yelled at my son for a stupid reason!" Ya right.
Doesn't this crap happen like every day? I swear I've seen this exact report like 2 years ago, or hell when I was going to High School I can remember dumb things like this popping up in news reports.
It's not a lack of common sense here it's the fact where bloaks like that are in power while a kid hacking up his pals with a lego axedoesn't get noticed while the kid with a (obiously) fake gun could have gotten suspended. that's where common sense is just being ignored.
Kinda reminds me of the time in like 6th or 7th grade when I got in trouble for pushing a kid who was bullying my friend. They took his glasses, started playing keep away and I shoved one of the little bastards to tell them to back off. He fought back too and when the whole thing ended, the two of us got a pair of afternoon detentions while they got like a slap on the wrist or something. Aren't administrators at public schools the smartest bunch of fuckers you ever met? They were in my school!
Seriously though, people are only going to continue to get more paranoid. There is little we can do to stop this madness. It's just going to get worse.
.......Some people are just fucking retarded. I think the principal was just trying to flex her muscles over someone who she can control. It just happens to be these kids.
BANG
Teacher: Hey, kid.
Kid: Ma'am?
Teacher: What did you just do?
Kid: I put a 2-inch plastic Lego gun in my plastic Lego police officer's hand and shot my friend's plastic Lego man.
Teacher: Do you know what could have happened?
Kid: No.
Teacher: Someone could have been hurt, that's what.
Kid: ???
Teacher: To the principal's office.
Kid: O_O
Teacher: NOW!
Principal: What do you think you're doing with that gun?
Kid: Playing wi...
Principal: Do you know someone could have been hurt with that gun?
Kid: It's just a 2-inch plastic Lego gun.
Principal: Don't talk back to me.
Kid: I was just saying, it's a 2-inch pla...
Principal: i TOLD YOU NOT TO TALK BACK TO ME!
Kid: But...
Principal: Don't "but" me when I'm trying to talk to you.
Kid: But...
Principal: AH!
Kid: Bu...
Principal: AH!
Kid: B...
Principal: AH!
Kid: ...
Principal: Okay then, I'm going to have to suspend you; you're mom will be notified.
Kid: -_-'
Um, does that make any sense to you, because it doesn't make sense me.
This whole situation just doesn't compute into my brain.
The school board needs to come in and do a thorough check up on that principal. The not bringing toy weapons makes sense, but to go that far was way over the line. A simple " you need to put that toy away and leave it at home" would of been sufficient. Over kill to the max right there!!!
"The tragic story of a diligent young student, with a healthy love of math, caught in the downward spiral of weapon fixation."
I think that was just a bad attempt by the reporter to show that the kid is interested in school, and not some troubled youth fixed on death. Too bad, though. This kid is going to be permanently scarred by the principles negligence, I hope she gets sued.
I remember being in an arcade years ago, and some 12 year old was playing 'Guns of LA' a rail shooter with a fixed light-rifle. He was screaming 'You will die!... You die too! Now you will die!' While his disinterested mother placidly watched on in the background. That was a little concerning. Some kid using imagination, creativity and age-appropriate toys having his soul crushed by a heartless beaurocrat? That's a lot concerning.
Shit. People get in trouble for that. My Middle School let me bring a fucking pocket knife to school and kids are getting in trouble for a toy gun the same length as the blade that I was allowed to bring? Wow.
