Dumb dumb as hell why would you bring that to school and not expect adults and other people who have never seen the show to not over react!

Life Fail!

If I had a child going to school with a kid who thought it appropriate to bring in a death note with mine or other children's names listed in it, I'd be a just tad bit worried about that child's mental state. It doesn't matter whether the kids listed were bullies and I say this from the view point of someone who has been bullied. The teachers and parents do not know whether this will turn into something more violent, but they'll treat it as a possibility. Call it an over-reaction, but I would trust a school who takes such things seriously rather than with a grain of salt because I would not want my children to be put at risk of becoming a statistic simply because people think it's an over-reaction.

'Cause I'm Proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free.
I'll just expell the kids who write those deathnotes aimed at me.

I could go on... but honestly, this makes me feel really, really idiotic for living in the good old US of A. Typical liberal Zero-tolerance. Meant to stop a bad thing, and gets waaaay outta hand. Reminds of the time I got suspended for having a fingernail clipper in my pocket. (No, it didn't even have the little nail cleaner swivel out thingies.)

Seem's like a good way to let off steam. *Writes similar list also with Justin Bieber on it*

I can't blame the kid for having it. Bullying can get really out of hand sometimes and the kid was most likely just venting his anger.

Also, this is why I keep my list in my head. I know very well I will never actually kill anybody, but, come on, there are always people we wish weren't around anymore.

I laughed at the Justin Bieber part. It's just so random. xD

Anyways, I really don't think it's such a big deal, but this is coming from someone who's seen Death Note and all that. I guess a mom that's never heard of it could be freaked out, but jailing the kid's still pretty harsh.

It doesn't have a ton of relevance, but I've heard of Death Notes and anything resembling them being banned in some schools, both in the US and in Japan.

Does anyone else find it ironic that there's an apple sitting there in their "depiction" of the list?

I must admit I was a little worried about the boy's mental state... and then they mentioned Justin Bieber. You'd think that might've tipped them off that this wasn't a 'hit list'...

I figured someone had the manga "Death Note" and some dumbass thought it was dangerous.

Still, that's pretty stupid. Hell, I used to have a Death list myself, bu I never did anything...

[sup]or did I???[/sup]

It sounds like he's just copying the animie though. You have to write down the dates ofwhen you want the person to die next to the person you want to die's name.

Can people not make that connection?

But that kid deserves about a million + interwebz for naming Justin Bieber, that little shit.
Isn't it obvious why the kid is in trouble? Now I am sympathetic towards the kid who brought a toy gun for his action figure to school, but this is just dumb on the kids end, he should be suspended.

And uhh.. you want some 12 year old kid to die, just because you don't like his music? Yeah, creepy.

"Thought crimes" are serious business, in a world full of actual violence and bullying.

God I hate that sarcasm, but I just did it.
On a side note.... who the hell is Justin Bieber?

In context, this does make sense- it's like carrying replica bullets with names on, not really dangerous per se, but dangrerous for what it represents.

The series starts well, but kinda fizzles out pretty fast.

This, and many other 'popular' mangas can be viewed at: http://www.onemanga.com/Death_Note/
