I remember Arthur, I remember some of the nightmare sequences in that show scared the crap out of me as a 4-year-old. I haven't seen any of the recent episodes though, but occasionally I catch a glimpse of PBS Kids and I have to agree with the OP most of the shows now are downright stupid.

Did anyone here watch Thomas the Tank Engine as a kid? Remember that show, how awesome the trains were? How cool it was with all the little miniature electric trains running around on awesome sets?

That was 90's Thomas.

This is the abomination it has become.

CGI ruins it completely.

*clears throat* THE! FUCK! kill it! kill it with fire!

Flapjack is pretty good, same with Camp Lazlo. And the Total Drama and 6teen arent that bad, so there is hope for zee children.

If I had kids, I'd never allow them to watch that shit. TBH I don't think a child would even want to watch that.
It's important to note that children don't notice the same things we do. A child might find it creepy, but he wouldn't know why it was creepy.

Yes, and Chowder is awesome, and I'm ashamed I didn't give it a chance. Just read the "Getting Crap Past the Radar" [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Chowder] part on the tvtropes entry.

Shows like The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Chowder have 1 or 2 good laughs but are mostly use juvenile jokes.
....

Uh...

You do know that Flapjack and Chowder are Kids' Shows, right? It makes sense that there will be "juvenile jokes" because they are appealing to, drum roll please, juveniles. It is not meant for your viewing pleasure as you are not a kid.

I second your sentiment.

Kids been wanting stuff they've seen on Television since the dawn of commercials. You can't even blame that on today's shows. Blame it on good advertisement.

Also, Kids do not want to see Muppets or Sesame Street these days because those shows are boring. Jeez. When I was a kid, seven or six, I saw Sesame Street a few times but never watched it more than a handful of times. The show was boring then. Muppets could hold a child's attention for maybe a half of an episode if an actual entertaining show was on.

The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack is not a bad show... But now that I think about it, only reason I watched it for a while was because I thought it is very well designed, I also liked how they switched from 2D toon to stop-motion... But I also watched Ben 10 for a while, kid turns to aliens and kicks ass or some shit, kinda cool... But yeah, it still can't even begin to compare to those great shows that are even still around on some local channels, and that's how I grew up basically with only "ye olde" toons like Scooby Doo, Flinstones, Tom & Jerry...

Now that I remember, I watched Powerpuff Girls some time ago, and that tranny devil with pincers for hands and that octopus with a top-hat used to scare the crap outta me.

Also anyone remeber Beast Wars and how awesome that was.

Airrazor (When seeing beaten up predacons) - Looks like the grunge look is making a return.
Sorry for the double post, but I need to high-five this man right now.
Thanks, I bought the whole box set a few months ago. Is there a word that fuses nostalgia and awesome to describe the feeling?

Also I remeber having this conversation with a girl from school a year or so ago. She had I agreed that modern kids shows sucked.

Anyone remember Toonami? It had my favorite shows like Yuyu Hakusho and DBZ. I think that had to take off the anime in an attempt to Americanize TV. That Anime was one of the reasons I watched TV. Oh yeah, and Ruroni Kenshin? That shit was the bomb. I miss the nineties-early 00's. America sucks.

You could never, ever, EVER show this today.

The mixture of pedophilia/psychotic undertones today would make parents break out in a cold sweat.

Back in the 90's? They showed this shit all the time.
Holy crap. I seriously never realized how fucked up that show was.

I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight

I don't know... 'awestalgia', maybe?

Beast Wars was never aired here beyond the first season, so it's not surprising the DVDs aren't available here either. Still, I wanted those DVD sets so much I went through the hassle of ordering them from America, putting up with toll fees and all that crap and buying a code-free DVD player (back when they were still expensive)... that's how awesome Beast Wars is.

Well I just started watching Invader zim last month, and that's freaking excellent. While nostalgia is often the reason for dismissing the new, there's still an objective decline in quality of kids shows today regardless.

They took off Toonami because it was past it prime and all that. Also, all of the shows that were taken off and moved to Adult Swim because most of those kick-ass shows were not for kids. That is how we got good shows without all of the violence being edited out.

And seriously, America sucks? Jeez, live in Japan for a few years and come back and tell me of your experiences.
