The only thing I have to say is this, well the parents shouldn't let there kids run in a parking lot.

"They came in and rented (a home) in a community that does not have a playground and is not conducive to children. Then they expect the children to play in the driveways and parking lot.

I mean come on that's kinda bad to let a kid lose where cars have little view for a tiny person popping out of no where

So put up signs on the road. Kids, suprisingly, know better than to run into the street in front of a car. Fining the parents because their kids are acting like kids is the wrong thing to do.

Shoot, when i was young we use to play tag in the dark.
And football (the European one), and hide-n-seek and many more games.
All that helped me to keep fit and when i was young i was hardly
ever sick.

Now you cant do any of those things, kids eat junk food all the time.
And then the parents are wondering why their kids are fat and unhealthy,
have no social life and fail in the school.

Well, all of it is not because of not being able to play outside.
But all of those negative things going on right now are caused by
the political correctness and health and safety rules going way overboard.
Damn, let the kids be kids. Let them play outside, let them fall once in
a while and even to get hurt a little.
And that is how they learn NOT to do stupid things and they will cmoe
out smarter and better for it in the end. Not the other way aroud.

More on topic. First of, thank god I don't live in the US and their goddamn obsession with stupid crusades. Don't want to insult the US people in the forums, but you do have to admit too many absurd crusades pop out "for the children" at your side of the pond. True enough, I went off on a tangent there. I was thinking about the parents that put the pressure on the schools to do these reforms. Usually, there is an incidence where some kid gets hurt and its the parents that put pressure on the school to protect their kid. So, I was thinking it terms of what else to overprotective parents do.

this may sound retarded, but this is why Canada is better. we realize that kids need to play outside! we don't sue for everything! parents are overprotective here too but... but... I can't thing of any counter-point.

OT: this is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. kids need to have fun, run around! getting injured from tripping and just sucking it up or brushing it off is part of growing up. my teachers all realized this and let us play tackle football during gym class or recess (as long as it was on grass) because its fun! sure people will get hurt sometimes but that's part of life!

We all did this stuff as kids and we turned out just fine! I was exposed to M-rated content at age 8 because my parents thought of this rating bullshit as more of a guideline; that's exactly how it's supposed to be treated! I could play MK3 because my parents understood it was a video game and I understood it was a video game.

Well clearly the best solution is to remove all kids legs for if they don't have any legs they can't run around and get hurt. But they could still pull themselves around so we will have to keep them sedated at all times to make sure to get them on lots of tranquilizers.

Really tho they complain kids play too many vidyas now they don't want them running around outside what the hell are they supposed to do paint can only dry for so long.

Okay I'm all for encouraging people to play video games, but I'm sure there's a better way to do it.

On the contrary, Video Games cause our kids to be murderers! And indoor playing will ruin our furniture and make them choke on tiny objects!

We expect our kids to sit in the corner with a body cast on and we as parents shall feed them cold oatmeal and spinach only 2 times per day to make sure they don't become obese.

Did these parents get some minor injuries? You bet they did.
Did they turn out all right? Mentally, apparently no. But physically, yes.
Will kids never grow up mentally if they don't learn some lessons the hard way? Yes.
