What, huh?

Although the HD collection has a serious lack of KH2 (Probably coming in a second pack with Birth By Sleep), I'll still pick it up once it hits $20 or so to get a super big nostalgia rush. I also heard that the collection makes some improvements to KH1 in terms of gameplay. How big of an improvement is it compared to the original version, aside from all of the bonus content?
Well if you had the PS2 Final Mix, like I did, the only thing new that was added in was the ability EXP Zero for doing Level 1 challenges. Aside from the bonus stuff, the controls have been changed and may take some getting used to. The right analog stick controls the camera, and the bottom of the command menu is replaced with the Summon command. Talking and opening boxes, along with activating special moves in battle like Strike Raid have been moved to the Triangle button.

In the Final Mix enemies will do more damage to you and are tougher, and if you are on Final Mix Proud then they do times 2 damage to you, and the Heartless Gummi Ships do 4x the damage to you.
It fixed the Oogie's Manor Red Trinity bug in which the trinity disappears if you don't get it before fighting Oogie. Instead they moved it to the bottom of the place where you fight Oogie, it's on a wall.

Oh and this will be bolded so everyone will see:
Most of the Dalmatian Puppies have had their locations changed to be in trinities or in different chests from the original! Don't use a US Kingdom Hearts 1 guide for them as it will be wrong.

Chests have also been changed to only contain rare gummis so then you can actually open all of the chests this time.

Oh no, Sephiroth wasn't nerfed, only the Unknown was, and the Unknown was only nerfed by one attack.
See the Unknown has a move that would scramble up the command menu just like how the Enigmatic Soldier would, but they moved the button for you to be released from it to the triangle button.
Not meaning to advertise, but mine is just one of the videos that shows up and is in good quality. >.>

Sephy is not nerfed however so have fun. :D
OH SHIT.

And they still have the balls to make him a bronze trophy.

Snip
Do you think they'll add Dream Drop Distance to the 2.5 remix, which i'm guessing will be II, Birth by Sleep and maybe re:coded?

P.S. thanks for the trophy list!

Nomura has said that they don't plan on doing an HD remake for Dream Drop Distance, but that could change at some point.
Why don't you put the trophy list in the OP then, just make sure to give me some credit. XD

True, since DDD is still rather new, but as you said there might be a chance they'll cave.

Done! and credit has been given :D

Maybe I should wait until they have the whole complete KH games in one package, rather than buying them in separate collections.

Question, is the game worth playing through on Proud from the get go with the new changes? I remember only having issues with Ursula and Ansem when I played it 10 years ago. I assume a lot of the difficulty (Mainly with me being stupid and not getting guard until level 50 or so) and some basic control issues have been fixed in this update?

Oh, also do you think they will make Birth By Sleep Final Mix and KH2 FM in the next update? Or will it only be KH2 FM?
Really it's a lot more fun to play on Final Mix Proud I say, but then again I've been mirroring my LP of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix on the PS2 for my PS3 LP of Final Mix HD. Really it's not that bad because the changes in the first Final Mix aren't real much when compared to Final Mix + for Kingdom Hearts 2. Really the thing that makes HD 1.5 the most difficult is the changing of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix's controls, but you get used to them pretty quickly.
The only thing that's really different in my case is that since I'm playing the original Japanese copies the Circle button is to attack and the X button is to jump.

As for 2.5 HD, if you beat any one of the games, this includes watching all the cutscenes, you unlock a special credit sequence at the beginning of the 1.5 game select screen. During those credits you will see the games that are hinted at in 2.5 HD, and they are: Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+, Birth by Sleep (can't tell if it's the Final Mix, but I'll find out later), and Re: Coded stuff, so more than likely it'll be the cutscene thing again.

Oh and fair warning to everyone, if you see this Heartless in Traverse Town later on, run like hell!
You need Stop to be able to do this right, but it is still a pain in the but]
That is probably one of the worst Heartless to ever be created, ever. Just don't let it see you or else they will infinitely spawn and attack you from all angles, and if you kill them you don't get any experience at all. >.<

The models that they used for everyone in Final Mix HD are actually imported from Dream Drop Distance's coding actually.
Oh, and thanks. Now I'll go and get the Re: Chain of Memories one and the 358/2 Days one for you.

Don't think that's ever gonna happen unfortunately. Mainly because the first HD 1.5 is 19 GB total, but the next one is gonna have more in it since Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix + is over twice the size of the first Kingdom Hearts. They might bundle them together later on though when both 1.5 HD and 2.5 HD are out.

If anything, my guess is that they will make it a digital download if Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't ready by 2015 (since Remix 2.5 releases in 2014) so they can continue with the 1 KH game every year.
2014!? Great, looks like after my Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories LP I've gotta go into Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Plus. >.<

So far, I've just gotten into Traverse Town, and the game is still as awesome as I remembered it. Can't wait to play more!

Same problem as before with translations, but Mace is working on it. These are the official trophies for both games.

Preordered it... Bought the Limited Editon version (since it came with the preorder), and IMMEDIATELY watched all of the 358 cutscenes while wondering why certain moments weren't turned into cutscene moments, but that's more of a personal gripe...

I want to start my speedrun playthrough (which I plan to turn that into a video tutorial or something) first of Final Mix (without continues or changing equipment), but I'll have to wait til Thursday since that's when I'll have the most free time to pull this all off in one go...

In the meantime, time to start my trek back into RE:Chain of Memories (this time in HD), since I have beaten both the GBA version and PS2 version REALLY not too long ago... I know that some of the bonus chest/cards in the HD version are different to accommodate/reference 358 instead of KH2, which that would be fun to customize my deck style later in the game...

*sighs* I remember when people mwere in an uproar about some of the Trophies in 1.5... Glad to see that hasn't changed as much... *begins thinking about a thread idea* Oh well, back to RE:COM HD...

I remember when I got a chance to play Final Mix for the PS2... I am still dreading the day when I will have to face them... because I have a heartless-killing complex...

AND they nerfed Unknown? *sighs* It's like they think we wouldn't be able to beat him... or they still wanted to make ol' Sephy the harder boss fight upon first glance... If they nerf ANY of the secret boss fights when 2.5 is released, then THAT'S when I'll start questioning... and have a bigger facepalm moment to give...

I can't see them nerfing any KH2FM+ bosses, well except maybe the Enigmatic Soldier, but that's about it really. But with that Heartless like I said, if it sees you it will constantly spawn and attack you, giving you no experience when you kill them. Plus they spawn in multiple directions and instantly disappear usually afterward to shoot at you again. They will make you heat any monkey-like Heartless ever. >.>

On the bright side the Neoshadows in this game are actually threatening and show how they were nerfed extremely in Kingdom Hearts 2. XD

I haven't got it yet though I certainly intend to as soon as I can. This version also includes Chain of Memories dosen't it? I always wanted to check it out since it had so many repurcussions in Kingdom Hearts 2.

I'm glad to hear it looks good so far as I was curious how it would actually turn out when I heard they basically had to remake the entire game over from scratch?
How often do game companies lose data to entire games, I wonder? I know the same thing happened to Silent Hill 2. Thank goodness Square respects their classics.

You shouldn't notice it really in the other versions of the HD collection, but the Japanese one had to be built from scratch. The main difficult part was the fact that Final Mix HD was the first ever instance of a Kingdom Hearts Final Mix game being entirely in Japanese, as all Final Mix games and Final Fantasy International games with voice acting used the English voice acting for the cutscenes and the Japanese dialogue for the text cutscenes and menus. Well all except for the PS2 version of Final Fantasy X International, which has an option to set the text in cutscenes and the menus to English.

The main problem with it though when rebuilding most of the game, they didn't lose all the data, was some lip syncing issues. You notice them the most in Hollow Bastion's cutscenes the most though.

...I was researching this stuff for months before the game came out and now I feel like the knowledge was a waste of my time. TT^TT

Here's my biggest question, how are the controls of KH1? I heard they got remade to be more like KH2, and therefore better (with the second analogue stick for the camera). Is it true? Game isn't out here, yet, so I can't check for myself.
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 controlled pretty much the same, only real difference was that the right analog stick in Kingdom Hearts 1 would also control the command window. In Kingdom Hearts HD they made it so that the camera is controlled by the right analog stick.

Summoning has also been moved to the bottom of the command menu, as before it was located at the bottom of the Magic menu.
To be fair there is a big difference between using the shoulder buttons and the analogue stick for the camera.

True, but the shoulder buttons before were for the camera, and in the HD 1.5 I don't recall using them even once really when it's come to me playing Final Mix HD. I know Re: CoM uses them, but I've honestly been sorta ignore that one since I got the HD collection back in March. :p
But either way the right analog stick makes things feel a bit more natural and I was only really disorientated up until I got to Destiny Islands, but that was more because I had just recently finished the LP of the PS2 Final Mix so I had been playing that one for a few months.

That's what I mean it feels more natural to use the analogue stick than the shoulder buttons for the camera. Speaking of which, can you also zoom in and out (or rather, pan vertically) with the right stick? Because I found that it helps a lot when you can see the whole field when there's a lot of enemies on screen.
