The KH series is one of my favorite game series. The writers always manage to do a good job on the story. There are times when I'm like, "I'm fighting monsters...with Disney characters."
But then I forget and enjoy it anyway.

I adored the first one but got rid of my ps2 before knowing KH was ps exclusive. Only got to play KH 2 last year and finished it, God it was awesome. Played Chain of Memories and the DS one. I can only hope that the third main one is released on the 360 as I lack a PS3. I'll eb heartbroken if it isn't.

I think I'm probably the only one here that played the GBA game (It wasn't very good) but I love the rest of the series and if KH3 is announced at E3 I will cry tears of joy!

The gameplay of that series has always been fun, that's one thing it has going for it. That said, it is nowhere near what I would call one of the greatest games I own. In addition, the series has spent so much time messing around with spin-offs that I have completely lost interest in the series.

Though part of my absolutely bloody hates the series because i want Final Mix. I also know i will never, ever, ever get them unless they make it DLC. Which i doubt.
You know you can get Final Mix mail order right? or do you just not want to have to pay?
I have no problem with paying. I would pay any amount. Thing is i don't speak Japanese, and i don't have a modded ps2 or a Japan Region PS2.

Edit: You know where i said DLC. That means I'm willing to pay for it over PSN... Why would you suggest "Or do you just not want to have to pay for it?"

I like them but they take way too long between the main sequels.

I haven't played some of the newer side games out, the first game was wonderful, I loved it an it surprised me quite a bit, the characters were funny, the story made as much sense as possible when smashing two companies like Disney and Square together, and it was fun to play.

The second of the series was a grave disappointment, mostly because of the characters. Everyone became ten times as annoying, Sora especially since he turned from a rather confused naive young boy thrown into a universe he didn't quite understand, into a cocky smart mouthed punk. They also seemed to turn Maleficent and her Heartless army into somewhat of a joke by partnering her up with Pete, which disappointed me to no end. By the end up the game Riku tosses a keyblade to Kairi and I realized that they really didn't seem to care much about how their own world works. D:

I do still want to play the third though.

Lame. KH1 was ok from what I remember but KH2 was self indulgent crap littered with bad mini games.

God I love the first two. Amazing gameplay, great rpg elements and kick arse music especially fighting off the 1000 heartless was the most fun I have ever had with a video game ever

I played one on the DS but I can't remember which however the card gameplay crap was so annoying but the awesome boss battles completely made up for it.

KH is my fav game series of them all (cept maybe Final Fantasy of course). Can't wait for the third one, although I'm hoping they finally add Vincent Valentine into this one. Seeing happy go lucky Sora meet cold, stonic Vincent would just be hilarious.

Love them.
If I ever manage to buy a PS3 and complete the collection of current consoles, KH3 will be the first game I buy.

Saw a trailer or something for KH3 that had some old guy turning people to ice, before i'd thought it was a stupid disney game but now its pretty high on my list of highly anticipated games
that was Birth By sleep for the psp, coming to NA and Europe(?) sometime in the coming months.

Kingdom Hearts II is in my opinion, with consideration for system capabilities, the best game to come out since FF VII. (Though I should note that there are about 5 games on the list that would beat the pants off it before then.) I liked every part of that game, besides the little mermaid level.

On a slight tangent. Why can't more games treat cutscenes like FFVII did. Nowadays it's all actiony shaking camera stuff, or there's some dialogue that's gotta be said. Why can't there be more shots that make you more aware of the scope of the environment in relation to your characters. Or cool little short scenes (The length of some of these is another issue) that just have little reaction shots and maybe some action, like when Shin-ra destroyed sector 7 or when Rufus got blasted by that Weapon. I guess my real problem is the length. Stop making everything so dang long!! If you wanna make something real impressive don't make the animation for it a minute and a half, make the animation for everything else shorter. I remember in the days of super nintendo even the most powerful spells/summons were only 3 second deals. The real impressive part was that they took up the whole screen when everything else was pretty much localized to the character and/or the enemy. But now you have to sit there for twice that just to do a basic attack. If Square Enix could make a turn-based rpg that did have me sitting there waiting on the animation every time I did something, I'd have a new favorite game. And where have the mini-games gone?! I played FFXIII not one thing worth even paying mind to as a mini-game. Where are the little things that let you take a break from the story every once in a while?! Kingdom Hearts II was the last game I played that got that right.

KH2 was pretty sweet despite the absolutely boring beginning with that blond what's-his-face.

In the end it's ultimately fanservice, but I loved it nonetheless.

Eh, I've tried 1 and 2, and hated them both. The gameplay was clunky, the story made little sense, and the Disney characters just don't work at all... I will admit that I really like Chain of Memories on GBA though.

The first game of the series was really the only one I loved unconditionally. It was fresh, colorful, and more than a little strange, but not in a bad way. More importantly, the story was clear and made sense. Well, as much sense as a story about shadow monsters devouring planets can make, at any rate.

Once KHII dropped, the series started getting bogged down in inane, metaphysical terminology and absurd plot twists that really served no purpose whatsoever. I played KHII start to finish out of loyalty to the original game, but by the end of it, I realized the series would never be the same.

I also wasn't fond of the direction the combat took in KHII. It seemed to pull inspiration from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, by which I mean almost every aspect of it was incredibly flashy. Lots of flying around, energy beams shooting everywhere, flips and stuff like that. By the end of the game, when I'd acquired most all of Sora's additional combat abilities, there would be so much crap flying around the screen during battles that I couldn't ever really see what was going on. It's more a matter of personal taste, but I greatly preferred KHI's simplistic but satisfying system.
