Just finished playing through the demo (to get the ME3 stuff) and it's really quite good. Although if Graham and Paul don't do an Unskippable for that introduction I will be extremely disappointed.

Heads up for all ATI card users: disable post processing, or you will only see your HUD. I actually thought that was part of the game and you had to navigate out of a cave in complete darkness using only your minimap, but that was not the case. lol
I actually thought that, too...

Anyway, apparently I went too fast for the game and killed two archers before I was given the prompt to do so. Then when I tried to talk to the Gnome to continue, the game crashed.

Thanks for the heads up, downloading it to give it a whirl. The stuff they've shown so far looks good, but I'm not the greatest fan of action based combat on PCs (they VERY rarely make the controls feel right), so my expectations are not too high. It does seem like it could have potential though.

The combat is just fine IMO. It's nothing outstanding, but I liked the general feel of it. The block mechanic is rather slow to react, but beyond that it worked just fine.

I played through the demo, and the sum of my take on it is a pretty resounding "meh". There's just nothing about it that really stands out. Everything about it is "safe". There's nothing new or innovative really. The talent tree thing they have going is kinda cool and looks like it could get interesting, but beyond that, there's not much else going for it. I'm hopeful the story comes together later on, but it was your standard generic fantasy nonsense for the first few levels. If whoever took Salvatore's lore and actually wrote the game didn't completely shit the bed, I should be quite happy with it, but I'm mildly concerned about that actually happening.

I'd have far more confidence in the game if the demo wasn't as buggy as it is. I saw numerous instances of textures/models randomly stretching to fill half my screen and colors going haywire. If those issues are fixed in the final build, it's probably something I can get behind.

If only it had a less terrible name.
I think they want people to refer to it as "Reckoning". That's a good name, the "Kingdoms of Amalur" part is what makes it so terrible.

So far it's glichy as hell (360). Characters popping in and out of dialog screens, landscape rips and textures don't know where to go. Character models are so so during interactions. Far worse than anything I've seen in Skyrim.

If they fix it up, it could be a fun title. I want this game to do well.

Equipping items should be an option from the loot menu pop up. Also, trying to aim spells sucks!
As for the bugs, the demo is like a couple month old builds and they said that they couldn't get many of the bug fixes in it from the Final build.

As for the magic... It just goes at who ever you're targeting...

Can someone compare the combat in this to Dark Souls?
What?

This is nothing like Dark Souls? Why would you even make that comparison?
I asked for someone to give me a comparison... Sheesh.

It's wasn't half bad, but I'm not going to rush out and buy it. I do like being able to be NOT HUMAN, though.

And the voice acting was rather bad, but that never stops me from buying an RPG.

Looks like a Massively Single Player Offline RPG, sprinkled with a skill-based, God of War-esque combat system.

As for the voice acting, whilst it'll probably be a bit of a mixed bag, they have some good voice talent like Simon Templeman and Cam Clarke signed on, I believe.

Played the demo last night on PC. I did not finish it and will give it another go tonight.

My thoughts so far:

Looks a lot like Fable and WoW. The graphics I felt were sub par but acceptable - it just looked "washed out" to me with too much bloom.

Extremely simplistic gameplay. Corridor running, glowing interactive items. Combat was nothing special so far, although the shield thing is retarded.

Overly tedious menus (to equip items for example is 3 menus, should be Inventory>equip X weapon not menu>inventory>weapons>equip X weapon). Same can be said of the character creation. First select sex and race - ok. Then a god (or none) for a perk - ok. Then select a facial preset - ok, but this could have been part of sex and race menu. THEN you can customize the looks completely... what? Why would this be after all that? They should have had it all part of one menu - sex, race, presets/customize. Then pick a perk and you're done.

On the plus side, voice acting was alright. Conversation wheel seemed fine, although it was a bit strange that at one point it went from a wheel to a menu. No idea what that's about.

Anyway like I said that was just my first impression after about 30 minutes. Going to play again tonight and finish it, maybe make a more formal review.

One complaint, why is the camera so floaty? It actually gave me a proper migrane!

I like the anime crossed with WRPG style srt style (because anyone who just says anime style has clearly not seen enough anime)

I was actually glad that sneak has one hit kills on unaware guards, not that i'll be doing any of that when there is a perfectly decent Persuasion skill tree to waste all my points on.

Hopefully this isn't another Vanquish for me, i couldn't play more than 5 minutes of that game cuz of the ludicrous speed. I loved the idea though... Pity it gave the worst migrane of my life

EDIT: Oh and soundtrack was absolute shite, generic and shite. I actually considered turning the music... I never turn off the music in games

I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this, but when I saw that trailer, the game looked like what Fable should've been.
