<color=purple> Why yes. You can't deny that logic.
Well I could deny it, you can deny anything if you close off your brain hard enough.

What do you think of waffles?

Don't really hold with the whole weapons for self- and/or home defence thingy (that's what the police are for), but I do have a katana (of the same quality as a coatrack) for display, and a folding knife for work related things. I.e. opening cardboard boxes and anything else that needs a tad of cutting, plus camping and so on and so forth.

I don't know but I want one of these [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balisong_%28knife%29]

I have one of those crappy fold up knive from where I used to go to the woods and make bow and arrow and junk.
A butterfly knife? Yeah I got one of those lying around somewhere they're fun but you're going to hurt yourself a lot before you get any good at it, then when you're good you'll keep hurting yourself because you're not a master.

I know it's called a karambit knife

I just got my 10.5 inch Smith and Wesson Search and Rescue combat knife in the mail. It. Is. Glorious. Knife questions and discussion here. Do you have knives? Do you carry them? Do you prefer folding or fixed blade? You know the rules. I want a clean thread. Now let's get it on!
Wow I have that same knife.

I own knives, I only rally carry a folding pocket knife band by Frost Family, it's got like a 3 in blade on it and I keep it razor sharp, come in handy at work and stuff.

As for practical uses of knives, I keep the Smith and Wesson in my flight bag, you know, in case we crash and I need a larger heavier knife, I'll also take it with me whenever I go camping. For deer hunting I've got two Schrade folding buck knives, they're EXTREMELY sharp, hold an edge forever and are just generally awesome (I use them to field dress the deer.)

In relation to protection, I never carry knives for that purpose, I just think it's dumb. Though, I plan on buying a handgun soon and getting my concealed carry ticket. But, I don't ever plan on carrying it.

You are in violation of xbox live terms of use. Therefore, this court sentences you to death, er I mean, you are banned! Alright this has gone far enough! Listen, I'm glad you two found each other, but please, stop derailing the thread! Talk about knives!
..........But I own a ps3 :O

Hahaha found each other....yes we are in love :S

Erm sorry OP :p

Anyway, MANLY KNIFE-NESS :
Boy, that'll get your ass hung in Britain. I do love the gunife though. That would be useful, now I don't have to decide weather I feel shooty of stabby.

I love Frosts knives. I'm partial to fixed blades myself (full tang, of course). I use a 4" clipper knife for camping and general use. It sharpens really easily.

Also I love my chef's knife. I know it's not quite the same thing as a knife you carry around, but I absolutely love it and I can't imagine my life without it: Wusthof grand prix II 8".

I just got my 12in Rambo survival knife in the mail. It is truly epic. It's got a hollow handle that's filled with matches, fishing line and hooks, and the handle cap has a compass. It's pretty sweet.

I've never been a big fan of these knives unless the tang is hollow. A truly good survival knife is either full tang or nothing, as batoning through wood is definitely going to put quite a bit of wear on your knife, and having the blade steel separate from the handle isn't really something you would want.

Knives are very practical self defense weapons, even against opponents with guns if you can get close enough. Right now I'm alternating between carrying the CS AK-47 version one and the benchmade LFK. I'd really like to get a tilite, but I know that carrying something so stiletto-esque isn't good for normal EDC tasks.

On the other hand, I just carry a Leatherman wave in addition to any other knives I might be carrying at the time. I have quite an extensive collection and it's really a fun choice in the morning to pick which knives I want to carry that day.

I really do frown upon these so called "Rambo" knives. Most of them are made with crap "stainless china" and have absolutely ABSURD blade shapes and saw-backs.

I have about a dozen knives, purchased over the course of about five years.

My favorite is my Smith & Wesson (I have two, one fixed blade, and one assisted opening) fixed blade, which is a 11 inch knife, and part of S&Ws "homeland Security" series. It does indeed make my homeland very secure.

I agree. Have you been on BudK.com recently? They have red and black painted Stainless Steel blades in the shape of fire, with a cutout in the middle.

I suppose the point of those kinds of blades are purely for display. That's why I like to go to Knifecenter, because they actually tell me the type of steel the knives are made out of.

I was referring to it being illegal to carry such a weapon. I was also referring to the United States more relaxed view of weapons and guns. Dude, I live in Florida. Here you can legally carry a gun on you without a permit if everyone can see it(therefore, it's not concealed). Buy, hey, if have one that's cool. Just don't walk around with it.
