Okay, yes, this is an important cause blah blah. Bad guys and whatnot.

But consider a few things before jumping on the hipster charity bandwagon.

-This is not a new deal, this man's crimes have gone on for years and no one has blinked an eye, but now, when an "edgy" trendy charity brings it up, it's suddenly a pressing matter.

-Invisible children is no longer a very trustworthy charity. There's proof that less than 25% of their money actually helps children in Uganda. They rest is used to send rich white kids to africa to do nothing.

-Addressing a man like this is not really achievable, it's something that only a government power could do. Their plan is to essentially sit down a bunch of rich kids in a room with the guy and get him to sign a treaty. People of government and power have done this before,and all it lead to was more violence. You really think they'll achieve anything. If you donate all your savings to this, it's just going to get dropped in the bucket. Don't be fooled.

So, please ponder and do your research before you jump on a bandwagon because it plucks your heartstrings. If everyone did that the rich would be richer and the poor would be happy with living in manipulation.

Please guys,invest in a better charity. There are many that will use your money better.

There isn't much we can do about it, every youtube comment is already about it, by the end of the week every one will know about it, no sense in stoping it, it just shows the power of a good viral campaign, thats in it of it self is interesting.

As for your points why is it ok to let some get away with something because we didn't know about it sooner? Where is the proof the charity can't be trusted?

- People who have thus far been living in a happy bubble of Pop culture and ignorance Will cry out like all this just happened yesterday and its the most important thing he's stopped (already happening)

- The Powers that be will scratch their heads "We've already done a lot, bar open warfare, to stop this guy; Why do they think we're as ignorant as them?". They Declared his group a terrorist group (in 2001), they've set out arrest Warrants for him and his groups leadership, They've sent diplomats to him to get him to stop, The Obama administration Unanimously, in both house and senate, passed LAW (the Lord's Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act) that made it American policy to kill or capture this guy, He (Obama) has asked congress for more money to put into actions plans to Disarm his group...AND they've even deployed roughly 100 combat ready troops to the region (But not for the purpose of direct warfare).

- Realising that they're dealing with slowpoke teenagers who only get their information through pop culture, they'll say something symbolic. Obama will come out and say "We're already doing everything we can, and we agree this guy should be stopped, Thanks for informing me of something I've already known for over a decade though".

- People will then argue, on internet forums, what should be done, until either there are a saturation of threads, people get bored of the issue, or another "OH MY GOD THINK OF THE CHILDREN" thing comes along to distracts you. Again. Remember Lybia? Or Syria? Hell, Remember Iraq? Shit ain't solved there you know.


Hell I'd love to see the arguments. I find most people who get all emotional about this kind of crap are Anti-War, the kind that yell "BRING THE TROOPS HOME" or (if they're old enough) Accused America of warmongering and getting involved in other countries business, So it would be fun to see how these same people whinge ineffectually that "Something must be done" when everything non-violent has already been done.

The video that is being circulated is sensationalist garbage. It's the type of thing that can capture the hearts of the masses, but those who care to dig a little deeper will find that it is nothing more than that.

It's a persuasive piece of film but offers little substance.

The problem isn't really the fact people on the internet can't really do crap about it. Problem is that the charity behind the video is not really exactly transparent and there is loads of issues with how it handles things.

The more viral the video goes the more money they might gain, because people get manipulated these days so easily. There is no guarantee that money will even go towards any worthy goal, and if that isn't bad enough the charity in question is known for supporting the Uganda's Army with weapons, army which has similarly long list of war-crimes by itself, including rape and pillaging of civilian villages.

Giving to charity is admirable, but people need to be more aware of what they support in first place. Before any of you blindly throws money towards every one asking do some background search on them first. Make sure it's actually an organization you would associate yourself with, whose goals are something you could stand behind.

Considering how old the case of Kony is, it really smells of scam more than genuine care.
