Ya, I'm guilty of this...

I guess that voids my opinion of it not being that bad.

Saying Lol in a conversation means you spend too much time on internet. It also shows how cynical people are when using it. If you say Lol and are not laughing you didnt find it that funny. So I guess 90% of the times people type LoL or lul are just being kind of polite when they actually mean, yeah, whatever...

... I hate it. Mainly cause "lol" is a way to indicate your laughing, but when you say it in real life your not laughing, are you? Someone said something funny, everyones laughing and all you could muster was a "lol"... Shame on you...

But I hate it online too. I hate most of those words that was created on the line. So maybe my opinion is void too?

Come to think of it, I only ever use like OMG and WTF when I'm really angry at someone in a video game and need to quickly make her/him aware of it in a short time trough texting only.

I hate it both written and in real conversations.

Written conversations turn so wooden when using acronyms like that, and when it comes to real conversations I'm on the "show don't tell" side of it.

I hate to admit it but I sometimes say it aloud myself. In my defence I never use it in conversation. I only ever say it when something happens in a game that is humorous, but (ironically?) not actually funny enough to make me laugh. It's more often reserved for highly unlikely idiotic situations in games.

I find it funny when people say "Lol" in real life, if tey are joking and being idiots, one of my friends actually said this to m "Soz Lol... I mean sorry" I facepalmed so hard.

I looks through my phone, and see that every single text i have starts with Lol, or there abouts. So im sorta desensitised to it.

I normally respond with "es-tee-eff-u!", because speaking out internet acronyms is just plain stupid. I don't say "xD" instead of grinning either...

When people say it vocally it makes me want to beat their faces with a keyboard, so I'd say I hate it.

I've only said it once before in real conversation, and I immediately felt shame for some reason. So yeah I always find it funny when people do it regularly. As far as text conversations go, I use it a lot, usually when I find something amusing or just want to lighten the mood of a text a little bit. Some things just sound so serious over text messaging or whatnot without it.

Same here. Especially u, r and y. How can you be so lazy that you can't be bothered to type a three letter word?

this is why society is going down the drain, to fucking lazy to even laugh properly. I dont mind it in text/online, as long as its not every third word and only used as a filler. but if im talking to you and something funny happens/is said, and all you do is say "lol" i will try my hardest, but i cant guarantee that i wont rip out your throat..

Also when its spelled "lawl" or "lul" cause its fucking stupid and means nothing, an acronym doesn't mean anything if you spell it wrong.

Actual laughing is sooooooo last century.

It's all about speaking your emotions through internet slang, now.

I only say it to be an obnoxious dick. Like saying someone obviously wrong when someone is trying to make a legitimate point, then just spamming "LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL" in their faces until they leave or swing at me. Real life trolling. Great fun.

I fucking DESPISE it in writing (or typing, whatever), but recently I've started using it in conversation, a sort of Nelson Muntz style "HAHA" laughing at other peoples misfortune kinda thing, or in the place of a facepalm. I'll never use it with actual amusement though. All of my friends and family know not to use it when texting me 'cos I'll tell 'em off, and I actually split up with a girl a while ago because she always said it instead of laughing. And my sister's recently started using the internet for things other than games and music and I've told her that if she ever uses it I'll piss on her pillow.
