Metal Gear Solid 4.

Just 'The Patriots' in general they make absolutely no sense and in fact the entire last 45 minutes of MGS4 makes no sense at all. I can't be bothered with spoiler tags but to say the least the game has so many holes that they overlap each other so the actual plot is more like a porous sponge soaked in poor cliches and masturbatory self-referencing.

I mean every time I hear "WAR has replaced OIL as the new global trading commodity" I want to drop kick my PS3 out of my window! But overall, I like it, deeply DEEPLY flawed with a bad ending but worth it overall.

Hey, if a game lacks an actual real plot, does that mean it's been swallowed up by a plothole so big that it encompasses the entire universe?
Metal Gear Series.

Thank you. That is all

If Cole got his powers from the explosion in Infamous, then how did he have the same powers when he came back in time as Kessler to actually set up the same events which had given him his powers?
Well, never played the game, but it probably went something like this:
The first time with Kessler was an accident, he goes back in time, and makes sure that it happens.

Or the writing staff got lazy and decided to drink a whole lot.

Until the DLC.

GoW 2.

come on Dom, I got an idea *holds up lotus masks*

*re-appear later in the depths of the hive*

Umm... what was the idea, and what just happened?

They eventually added it with DLC, but at the time my friend and I exchanged glances 0.o

Maybe the end of halo three where the chief is put into chriogenics (I have no idea how to spell that so sorry) it felt like they were doing that with the series as well like they were doing that just so that they have a fall back incase they are in peril later.

I was wondering yesterday which game I have has had the biggest plot hole, and I realised that it was probably in Super Mario Sunshine.
Princess Peach was Baby Bowser's mother? What was up with that?
So come on people, what do you think was the biggest plot hole you've ever seen in a game?
Im pretty sure the Peach being Baby bowsers mother was a lie Bowser made up because if she was that would be messed up...And anyways who was Baby Bowsers mother? Was it a Snapping Turtle or a Komodo Dragon?

A number of people have said this, but thanks anyway.
I really have no idea who Baby Bowser's mother could be.

Kind of off topic, I've found myself watching the Adventures of the Super Mario Brothers (the cartoon) the past few days, in which Bowser has around 15 kids. I found myself baffled.

I started with MGS4 and it actually made sense. I liked the game, so I decided to play the other 3. The more I played, the more I realized I had no idea what the hell was going on in this series and how ludicrously formulaic it is. I mean... MGS2 actually acknowledged that it was a ripoff of the first game.

On the MW2 level No Russian, how did everyone on the last floor before you exit onto the airstrip die before you get there? I'm pretty sure they started to arm themselves on an elevator and didn't exit near the airstrip.
If you were paying attention to your "allies", you would notice that one of them walks over to the ledge and sprays bullets down onto them

Well, seeing as it is never explained, how the Russians got to America undetected in MW2.
And I will now prepare to be told how by someone hopefully.
The ACS module that you were sent to steal in the first level had a shit load of information on the US satellite defense system. It was copied, so the Russians could disable the defense long enough to slip over the arctic to America.

I think. I am too tired to remember correctly

And that is how babies are made they did that
I think the bigger plot hole is: Why the fuck did they declare war on America like, a day after the airport incident?! They didn't even contact America to see what the dealy!

I can't put my finger on the biggest one...
...but I am very annoyed when the Invincible supersoldier is defeated by a minor inconvenience in a cutscene. Seriously how many times have you sat there and thought "If I pressed b/pulled the trigger a few times I would have solved everything in that cutscene."

As soon as I read "plot hole" in the title I immediately thought of Devil May Cry 4.
Here's but a few:
How is Nero suddenly a decendant of Sparda?
How does the Order of the Sword somehow has access to Yamato and fragments of Nelo Angelo?
Why is Nero's arm the way it is?
What was the point of Trish/Gloria in the game besides fanservice?.....I may have just answered my own question there.
WHO THE FUCK IS NERO ANYWAY!?!?

Most nuclear missiles DO go into space before coming back down to earth. This is actually realistic.

Cryogenics (Sorry, couldn't help it)

Half-life. Why does everyone in Black Mesa know (and trust implicitly - although this tends to be a mistake when I play) Gordon Freeman? Its rather a big place after all.

In borderlands the angel talks to you before you have your ECHO system (on the bus) but then when the ECHO system is disabled she cannot?

If that sentence doesn't make sense to anyone: She is able to talk to you with out the system in the beginning but when that system gets fcuked she can't speak to you again even though she could before.

It feels like i chose the hardest thing to describe
Borderlands wiki offered an explanation: The ECHO device was very close to you, so perhaps it's not necessary to be ON you for it to work. Not sure if it's true, but that's what I've read.

MW2 is one big Plot Hole.

1. How come an ACS Module falls over Russia?
2. How come a Military Defense Satellite has a code to disable all of the Satellites in America?
3. How come none of the movement in Russia was undetected?
4. How come none of the movement in Russia was not sent by phone to Youtube or something, instantly alerting the United States?
5. How does a Nuclear Missile only cause an EMP Shockwave, with no Nuclear Devestation?
6. How does an EMP Shockwave from a Nuclear Missile cover the entire United States?
7. How does a Devestation Wave only travel up from the missile?
8. How do you detonate a Ground-to-ground ICBM Missile in midair?
9. Why does Russia drop people on suburban homes and make it really defended?
10. Why isn't at least half of Russia's infantry decimated by gun carrying US Citizens?
11. Who the hell are you transporting on the one defensive mission in the beginning?
12. Why does Predator missiles in the second mission you have them have a reload time?
13. Why do Nuclear Missiles end the game in your favor online?
14. How does a 150-300lb person carry a 1000lb (considering ammo amount) Turret which auto-tracks with no Run Speed decline?
15. How does slicing a man in the backpack constitute an instant kill?
16. On the Terrorist Mission, if this guy is so bad, why don't we kill the guy while we have guns and we're behind the guy?
17. How can you survive a 150-lb bomb from a Stealth Bomber with a small enclosure, but the wall fails to stop 2 inch bullets?
18. Why the hell are you going from one place to another in the first US Mission?
19. How do pipes suddenly fix themselves after they have been shooting hot burning air?
20. After 30 seconds of leaking Propane, why doesn't a single spark light up everything in a 30ft radius? How about 2 minutes, why isn't everything within 120ft burning to a crisp?
21. How the hell would you invent a Heartbeat Sensor?
22. Why can enemies follow you if they are within 30 ft, behind walls, up stairs, around corners, etc. easily, but cannot follow you if they are outside of 120ft, even if they have been watching you the entire time?
23. How do the Thermal Visions work in the Desert? If it's 98.6 Degrees outside, and the human body is 98.6 Degrees, wouldn't you see nothing?
24. How do you carry dual shotguns with no recoil?
25. How can you carry dual machine guns with no recoil?
26. How can you pump a pump shotgun when both hands are taken?
3. Some countries keep their military movements secret, if they were determined to keep things out of the public eye they could easily do so. Even if it means moving loads of heavy equipment between continents, a government that had the motive to do so would find a way.

4. Governments can shut down communications if they want to, I think Iran recently shut down access to some websites during their election to stop certain candidates gaining popularity. Again, if they wanted to keep things secret they could do so. Although it is plausible that someone could have run across the border and let the news out, provided that the borders weren't also closed and being patrolled (although they are quite big in Russia).

5. They don't, unless someone developed a way to turn a regular nuclear device into a more potent EM device.

6. If you have a large enough nuclear device and detonate it above the surface of the Earth, the EM pulse covers a much larger area. Although to cover the whole USA with a single bomb would mean it's one HUGE boom. Then again, they could target a strategic area and hope it has a domino effect and knocks out an even larger area, just indirectly.

8. All missiles (at least not home-made ones) will have some kind of remote detonation capability, that's just common sense. If you launched a missile and during the flight realise it's going off course, the people you're planning to kerplode surrender or they just get stolen, you'd want a way to shut them off. Whether it is a ground-to-ground, surface-to-air or any other kind of explosive delight is pretty much irrelevant.

10. Organisation and will to fight? Just because people have guns doesn't mean that they are capable or even willing to take up arms against the military. Whilst it's easy to say 'Hey, they'd easily lay down their life to stop a massive invasion force who are out-gunning them. They'd do it. FOR AMERICA!', if it actually happened I'd hazard a guess that most folks, gun wielding or not, would just hole up in their homes and use their guns to defend themselves and not sacrifice their lives for a silly flag.

16. Because otherwise the level wouldn't be even remotely as controversial and the game wouldn't get the free advertising from shocked Australians. It may also be that there were more people involved that just weren't in the elevator, killing them would just piss off those guys and if you were the only one left standing they might be a bit suspicious. Plus you'd get arrested for killing people in an airport.

17. Lead lined fridges can stop nuclear blasts, did you not see Indiana Jones and the Sequel of Retardation?

19. They could have a shut off valve or they just give off less hot air after a while as the pressure has dropped.

20. That depends where it is, in a closed space then it should but outdoors the gas would diffuse too much over a longer period of time and you wouldn't see much more.

21. Heart rate monitors exist for numerous reasons. A heart beat sensor could just be a directional microphone, which also exist.

22. They can smell you.

23. You'll probably be warmer in a desert, so you're body temperature would be higher. Although whether or not thermal cameras would be able to distinguish between warm air and a warm person is debatable.

26. You can get attachments that allow you to pump them single handed, by using a leg/ledge/kitten/the other gun for leverage instead of your hand. Either that or he is a jedi.

Probably the Mario games and how, after doing it more times than I can count or even remember, Bowser is STILL able to catch the entire Mushroom Kingdom off-guard and kidnap the princess. I mean, you'd think that after the second time they'd always be on the lookout, but nope!
I think most sane kingdoms would maybe employ some kind of bodyguard after that. Or maybe, you know, close the gates of that massive castle or something.

27.why was price in the gulag to begin with?

28.why could he not have simply been shot?

29.why does Makarov even know about price? (if makarov has no connection to the russian government)

30.why is cpt price bieng defended by the russians in a gigantic fortress with hundreds of commandos despite being the only prisoner?

31.why the hell does general shepherd go to freaking Afghanistan? why is he even hiding? why does he have his own private army? With absolutly no one paying attention to what he does with it?( no really, WHY?)

32.How did a nuclear bomb exploding close enough to destroy ISS (which jsut happened to be over Washington) have an area of effect large enough to cover Washington with EMP?

33.Why did no one fall off those little bird choppers? there was no straps or anything.

34. Why is there a giant army of banditos living in rio de ginero armed with the same 100 year old shotgun?

35.Why was makarov supposedly hiding in a us army dumping ground? what in gods name drove the writers to think it was reasonable for the general to randomly "narrow down" makarovs location to two places? and if shephard had this whole army of people he trusts, why did'nt he send them?

36.The russian invasion seemed kind of retarded. So, what, 40 years of cold war with both sides preparing to nuke the planet to oblivion. when war breaks out, they just dropped in nuch of guys with AK's and wheeled apc's to occupy monuments in washington, and then the Americans nuke themselves... ???????

37. Why does the plot have to BLOW SO MUCH? it would have been so easy to make so many minor changes that a normal person could make sense of it- buut nooo, our cash cow cannot be questioned...
