The Russians are clearly coming in from the Atlantic anyway, and just because one ACS module got nicked doesn't mean that the US and every other world power lost all things like radar, or in the case of Non-USA countries, their fucking satellite capabilities.

Plus, this is bloody America people. They don't have one defence system, nor do they tend to keep it going and trust that it still works after it has been captured. The USA would have contingency plans for something like that going missing, and they would have never trusted data that had been captured by a hostile country.

Just accept it as a plot hole.
It is a bit of a plot hole, especially considering the time frame of the between Makarov's attack on the airport to the invasion. Another think I wondered was why would Russia find an American body and then jump straight away to "INVADE AMERICA!!". Wouldn't they ask questions? How would they know the guy is from America? Are there no such things as terrists in Russia, to which they have to automatically blame an entire country for one fringe group? That would be like setting Mexico aflame because you got mugged in Tijuana.

Like how a nuke can cause a shockwave in space, or how a nuke can be launched from a submarine into space, or still work in space.
That wasn't a "shockwave", that was an EMP. EMPs usually come from nuclear explosions. If you set a nuke off in high atmosphere, it causes a widespread EMP that can take out an impressively large area's elecronical equipment. This is probably why the International Space Station blew up, because the life support systems failed and it depressurized. If you look closely at the continent itself, just as the nuke pops, you can see all the lights going out in a circular pattern away from the epicenter.

But back to plot holes: If the EMP took out pretty much the entire Eastern seaboard, how the fuck to the speakers in the White House magically fucking work? That little detail pisses me of. I can't use my red dot or holographic sight, but the White House can recieve radio transmission?

Or how the hell Price ended up in that Gulag and never took the opportunity to escape before.
Got me on that one. I have the feeling this will never be explained, considering that he seemingly died in the first one. How he went from Kamarov to the Gulag and stayed there for five fucking years is beyond me. What I really want to know is what the hell is the deal with a Captain Price in Modern Warfare and a Captain Price in World War II. That still blows my mind.

Why can't Ezio stab anyone at anytime he wants? The dude is fucking imposing, who's gonna stop him? I guess combat would suck if you just punctured throats the whole game but it would be cool.
He could, but he didn't! Remember how the Animus replayed memories from the past? You can do different things than Ezio did, but that would desynch you.

Why doesn't Bowser just send all his minions to swarm Mario at once?
How come nobody notices an assassin who is dressed in a unique outfit and has just killed 8 extremely notable poeple though out the land and is the most wanted man in the holy land?
Why is it that in Fallout 3 you are trying to purify the water but when someone else wants to do it for you, you slaughter there entire population and kill anyone that attempts to do the job before you just so you can go kill yourself to get it done? what is that?

How the hell did they build Rapture,
i spent like a whole day coming up with ways that you can build things underwater because of that game...

and second, how the hell did nobody notice? Seriously, it's an enormous city under the sea - that would take ... millions upon millions of dollars.
if you have enough money to build that, you have enough money to cover it up... =P

Not really. They could have just built it on the surface and then sunk it. And since it was built pre-SOSUS then no one would really have noticed it unless they stumbled upon in *ahem* A FREAKING OCEAN!
i think buildings still need foundations underwater...
i guess if you had like... pegs... like a tent... really really long pegs...
Well, you know how diving-bells work, right? Take the glass domes down really carefully, affix them to the seabed by some means and you're good to go.
As for hiding it.. Well. The Bauhaus lighthaus in the middle of the ocean pretty much put paid to that.

That link is cute. Dubai is so far in the shitter economically now that they can basically NOTHING they have started. I don't even think the process of construction has even begun on this building.
I love Dubai, it's so fun to see the rich and powerful trying to show off their wealth and then fail miserably and go totally broke.

In borderlands the angel talks to you before you have your ECHO system (on the bus) but then when the ECHO system is disabled she cannot?

If that sentence doesn't make sense to anyone: She is able to talk to you with out the system in the beginning but when that system gets fcuked she can't speak to you again even though she could before.

It feels like i chose the hardest thing to describe
....hey... yeah WTF, i feel ripped off now

Seriously, it's an enormous city under the sea - that would take years to build (and apparently it was built prior to or around the 50s, and therefore building something like that is pretty much impossible) and millions upon millions of dollars. And apparently it's in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean - how would you get the building supplies out there? It doesn't affect Bioshock in anyway, it's just something I've always wondered.
-Snip-
Yes, I get what you're saying, but the whole thing requires a MASSIVE suspension of disbelief - even if they were the smartest people in the world, overcoming the technical nightmare that is building a massive city under tens of thousands of gallons of water (without anybody finding out, mind you) is something that is so far beyond anybody even today. Even if it is POSSIBLE, it would be a fucking nightmare to execute and would take far too long to make it a viable idea. I understand your space station comparison, but we're talking about a freaking CITY here.

Secondly, yes it is a plot hole. It's not an extremely RELEVANT plot hole with regards to the central storyline, but it is part of the overarching storyline, which is the story of this man (Andrew Ryan) who, in his very objectivist manner, went and built this fantastic underwater city where people wouldn't have to face the restraints of everyday society. So how did he build it, eh? See, plot hole.
I see where you're coming from, but just because the existence of Rapture seems unlikely given the time-period, it doesn't mean it's not impossible. Also, a Plot Hole is defined as "a gap or inconsistency in a story-line." The playable story-line of Bioshock begins in the middle of the grander story-line belonging to Rapture, and while there's a lot we don't know because of this, it is not a plot hole because it doesn't impact the story being told to us through playing the game.

I can't remember every detail about how they built Rapture, but there is quite a lot of it explained outside the game.

Basically it went something like this, first they sent down divers to build the buildings. Remember Big Daddys? Well, their suits were modified from the ones made for the original construction workers. At this point, it's important to remember 2 things:

1) We are never told how deep the Rapture actually is. If you build it just deep enough to prevent light shining to the surface, it doesn't have to be very deep.
2) When Rapture was built, the building were built filled with water. Because of this, there was no problems with water pressure during construction phase.

After the buildings were complete, they were still filled with water. This is where one of Mr. Ryan's previous inventions comes to play. A device that can drive water out of certain areas. This device was used to empty the buildings of water, after that the buildings were sealed and the interiors built.

Not long after Bioshock was released, I read this long article gathered from different sources that explained to the detail the previous life of Andrew Ryan as well as story about how and why Rapture was built. Unfortunately, I was unable to find that article at this moment, but it is out there somewhere.

Final Fantasy 7 (thats the Squall one right?). Global communications are non-functional and are repaired by screwing around with a radar dish. It took them 10 years to figure this out...10 YEARS TO FIGURE OUT THEY NEED TO FIX SOMETHING IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK, oh yet they happen to maintain the giant televisions in the major cities JUST IN CASE someone gets it working...
That would be FF8. FF7 is the one with Cloud that everyone hates.
Oh so many plot holes in FFVIII, but I still loves it so...

How about the whole 'the GFs are destroying our long-term memories... oh well, never mind!!' about face in trabia garden? - I know, it was explained away by them deciding the GFs advantages in combat outweighed the possible downsides, but would you want to use something that messed up your mind?!

They never explained how Pac-Man went insane and murdered Inky, Pinky, Blinky and Clyde. Or what drove him to constantly run from his past while constantly popping pill after pill to make the ghosts leave him alone- if only for a few seconds.

I mean... isnt that what youve always wondered?

There's a lot of chatter about the whole MW2/Russia bypassing the Yanks early warning etc. Did anyone watch the loading cut screens/listen to the dialogue?

I took it that those cunning russkies used the ACS module (as has been described in previous posts) and screwed the yanks over, hence the whole thing with chatter between two stations about there being huge formations of "bogies" on radars in one place but not another.

Hell, it's a huge plot hole but surely we can just believe that those Russians are just that cunning?

I'd be tempted to put forward how the Russians worked out that a deep cover CIA agent was a yank when all they found was his body...... which I presume didn't have a "I love NY" T-shirt or anything else along those lines on it? And then mobilised their forces quite so rapidly.

Oh well, it's a fun game and the story is just a frame for the action rather than of vital importance to the game (much like asking why red are fighting Blu in TF2). It's in RPGs that plot holes create problems (or the infamous "Why not just fly the ring to Mt Doom on the giant eagles rather than just walk there? scenario from everyones favorite fantasy).

If Cole got his powers from the explosion in Infamous, then how did he have the same powers when he came back in time as Kessler to actually set up the same events which had given him his powers?

After the MW2 level No Russian, in the loading sequence, they zoom in on a single bullet from the airport's security cameras and trace it to some favela in Rio de Janeiro, but the Russians couldn't zoom in on the faces of Makarov's men or Makarov himself?

It's probably the largest plot hole in recent gaming history.
