Loved: [C] The Money of Soul and Possibility Control. And I'm not bummed it's over, I was happy it was over, because it had such an awesome ending. It starts off appearing to be a shonen, but isn't, the fighting is similar in importance to Puella Magi. It is about a battle of finances, and a conflict of ethical theories. Between "Without the future the present has no reason to exist" and "without the present there is no future". Sounds weird out of context, but is pretty awesome. If you liked Puella Magi, you will almost certainly like this.

Disliked: Freezing. "Like Claymore, but terrible" stamp here. This is going to be a rant, so...
The plot is similar, but starting where claymore gets bad (the time jump). It has the same main male character who can't do anything really in an almost exclusively female show who spends all his time getting in the female lead's way and wanting to protect the main female character, has the main female being psychologically damaged from abuse as a child (Claymore having Claire going through a lot of psychological and emotional trauma and being physically abused and thus being emotionally broken; Freezing having Satella being sexual abused by her half-brother for years while her mother basically said 'suck it up, I don't to cause problems for the half-brother's family' (seriously), giving her intense aphephobia). Both female leads get more powerful through willpower, and gain ultimate speed from it, and the power comes from genetically implanting material from powerful women into them. Both have a nearly completely female cast. Both have very generic monsters, have an organisation made to fight said monsters, have all members get superhuman powers from genetic modification to fight them, and only females can become members. The list goes on...

But why do I really like Claymore but hate Freezing? For one, Claymore's anime ends when the manga starts to go bad, and thus the anime itself is really good. For another, Freezing is a hentai pretending to be a manga. I mean, in just episode 3 the main lead gets stripped from the waist up and gets her breasts groped because... Satara has intense aphephobia, and that's how you bully people like that (seriously, that's the actual reason). The anime of Claymore was surprisingly incredible, especially since I don't really like fighting focussed anime for the most part. Freezing was agonising from start to where the manga got up to when I finished, which was chapter 49 (currently on 51).

"But Richard, if it was so painful, why didn't you stop?" Because I thought maybe something would happen like in Cage of Eden where it got past the incessant fan service and gave me that amazing gem of incredibleness that was the 4th volume, which is still one of my favourite volumes of any manga. But no, it was consistent.

Despite the fact no-one is going to read that, I feel a lot better now that's off my chest.

Despised: Naruto. I don't know why. Something about it just pisses me right off.
Naruto has some deep and moving moments, and does deal with contriversial and emotional issues very well. Unfortunately, the characters are very generic and are unmodified archetypes, and the friendship speech is used way too often.

Yeah I'm kinda stupid that way. Also The World God Only knows is an awesome show.It was hilarious how ofter Kemia's logic actually worked and that running joke about fire trucks was great.
Go watch this show guys. It's perfect.

Last anime I loved: Baccano (best fucking anime ever)
Last anime I hated: Naruto (ignoring all the filler I just didn't think it wasn't very good compared to the manga, some of the fights were pretty cool though)

I have to admit I don't watch the "new" anime stuff.

It just seems a bit, toned down, for my liking.

I like the older stuff like Fist of the North Star, Guyver, Devil Man, Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Blood and Ghost in the Shell (the original NOT the stand alone complex).

Loved - Death Note
It's a tightly plotted, beautifully animated, mature piece that doesn't treat you like an idiot. I think the greatest thing about it is that it wouldn't have to be anime. It's a good, suspenseful story with well-written characters and tons of atmosphere that HAPPENS to be anime.

Hated - anything I've tried to replace Death Note with (Monster, Code Geass...)
I was recommended to try those two by this site. And they're horrific.

Monster looks good (it thinks it's a Hitchcock movie) but there's so much repetition, so much dead time (falling action/pointless, over-long scenes). It's so heavy handed in it's moralising, so melodramatic I was laughing throughout all the serious bits.

Code Geass is, if possible, even worse.
I can't escape comparing them to Death Note (I did get these from a 'find me a replacement to Death Note' thread) which is, admittedly, unfair.
But this is just a train wreck. Saturday-morning-quality animation, lolitas and mecha, evil bishounen princes... it's just bog standard anime at it's very boggiest.

Liked: Welcome to The NHK, nice soundtrack, story, and characters, though the art got REALLY bad in a few parts of the show due to lack of budget.

Disliked: I tend to avoid things that would piss me off.. I guess School Days, best ending to the worst show ever.

I don't really watch a lot of anime, not because I don't want to, but because I just don't have the time or anything. Otherwise, I have a backlog of anime I still plan to watch when I do get the chance. But the few shows I have seen, I've enjoyed them all, so I don't have one that I hate. I guess the one I like the least, which I still absolutely love, was the second half of Death Note, or probably the first story arc of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (namely Onikakushi-hen, or the 'Demon Killing Chapter').

As for my favourite, definitely Umineko no Naku Koro ni, or 'When the Seagulls Cry'. A spiritual successor to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When the Cicadas Cry), most people say it's pretty bad purely because it omits a lot of the stuff that's important in the game plot that it's based on, but as an anime I think it works really well, and I'm desperately hoping for a new series to explain those missing bits and carry the cliffhangers on. Not to mention, I'm a massive fan of chess motifs and of locked room mysteries and supernatural mystery tales...

Loved: Baccano! Most original anime I'd seen in years.

Hated: Clannad, no so much hated as was disappointed by. Did we need another kawaii-esqe anime set in a quirky high school, with over the top quirky-cute characters? It just added to the general malaise I've seen anime slump into for the past few years.

Loved: Cromartie High School (It's funny, the characters are interesting and it's got fucking Freddy in it!)
Hated: Lucky Star (It looks like it'll give me a seizure, the voices sound horrible, the characters are dull and i don't understand a large chunks of the jokes.)

Avatar : The Last Airbinder was a great, fantastic kids show that dwelled in topics for adults and delivered a product thatboth children and adults can enjoy. But it isn't an anime.
Thats a topic for discussion. English-language dictionaries define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation", and ATLA fits that description, and by definition is anime. Why would you disagree, because it wasn't penned in Nihon? Anime is basically the way a japanese speaker would short-hand the pronunciation of animation.

online wikis - In Japan, the term anime does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it serves as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world

The last good one I have watched was FMA Brotherhood, still trying to finish it. I have also been watching a bit of Birdie the Decoder. On the western side, the new Thundercats is wicked. And the Captain Marvel vs. Black Adam feature was tight too.

The shitty ones, were Black Butler, I wasn't really wowed by Elfen Lied, and it was billed to me a s a good one. I thought it was meh, at best. Sacred Balcksmith was shitty, I couldn't even get through the first episode. I love Netflix!

Loved: Panty and Stocking. The sheer insanity of that final episode caused my brains to leak out of my ears.

Hated: High School of the Dead. Man, so much potential there COMPLETELY wasted by the fanservice. Now, I'm not some prude who's opposed to fanservice (see my Loved anime for proof of that), but HSOTD just feels bipolar at times. It tried to pull the fanservice for laughs, but then it tries to have a genuinely serious story about the horror of a zombie apocalypse? If it had been ALL funny or ALL serious, it might have worked, but what we've got is just a mess.

I honestly don't watch much anime. I'm sure I'd love lots of them if I invested the time in them, but it's just not my top priority.

Still, I recently marathon'd full metal alchemist (the original) and absolutely loved it... except the ending which I found kind of "meh".

Bleach, and I've stopped watching it because of memories tied to it.

And Naruto. Just fuck Naruto and all it's obsessive fans that make their username's after it and draw themselves as ninja's even though they're probably overweight and couldn't jump higher then a foot, let alone a tree.

Both ranged from painfully generic to hilariously stupid.
Same likes and dislikes.
Steins;Gate is incredibly awesome.

in a weird subversion, most people aren't meant to get Konata's jokes on Lucky Star. Her character loves referencing obscure or outdated things and you can often see this in her friend's reactions to what she says. If she wasn't so much like me I would probably hate the show but it reminded me so much of me and my friends

I've actually never watched anything that I hated. With that said, here we go:

The last one that I loved was Pani Poni Dash. It was freaking comedy gold and could be really clever with its surreal humour.
The last one that I didn't like so much was K-On. I still liked it, mind you, just not as much as some of the other things I've watched. The animation was pretty good, but the character design was rather bland. It was kind of funny and entertaining at times, though. It's not worth the hype, but it's certainly not terrible.
