"Law & Order" Goes Mental in Its Portrayal of Gamers

As far as I recall, I have read two different articles that where the parents were so into video games that their less than year old child died of neglect(no food) or imprisoned in their room/closet. I think one happened in South Korea and one happened in USA.

Jokes aside, cant really get myself to be angry about this. So, they poke fun at gamers, so what? Who cares? If you dont look like the dude in the video, no ones going to think your like him. Unless, of course, the first thing you do when you meet someone is show them your pacman t-shirt and talk about the latest RPG and how you saved this totally fly chick from the clutches of the evil blablabla. I mean, people who do that, you are just as bad as those who push there religion on you, people the escapist is quick to hate on.

If the writers of that show actually put the effort into making realistic depictions of people involved with crime and instead of steriotypical charicatures that pander to audience's own prejudice, this wouldn't be Law & Order. You could apply this to any Law & Order episode, not just the ones involving gamers. I just hate this show on so many levels.

This whole thing reminds me of Mazes and Monsters and as a part of the gaming community, I get offended, because people who watch this are not familiar with the gaming community and might take this stereotype for granted.

That episode was ridiculous on the ammount of plot twist and subject it tries to tackle (only in that episode you have stuff about Mob justice, internet surveillance and probably some other I'm forgetting about) it had, its not even about gamers culture in general, I don't really expect them to be well verse on the subject so why even be bothered if only a little.

I think I made it a little to easy to misinterprit my first post: I am by no means defending the scene or saying its ok to have this image of a gamer, but it happens to a lot of people. Catholics are depicted as child molesters, black people as n*gg*rs that make there money robbing people at gun point, etc etc. It isnt right; it isnt fair; but its just not worth getting worked up over. If you dont look and/or act like the guy in the video you have nothing to worry about. A sensible person isnt going to get to know you, think your a nice guy and then run to the hills when he sees your game collection.
I'd say people who have been hit by buses should be more offended then gamers, but then I remembered that, historically, NO ONE has EVER been more offended then gamers. By anything.
