Gaz held onto a wall, barely keeping still as the tornado attempted to whip him around. "Come on!" he shouted at Amaranth. "You spend all your time either running, hiding, or trying to keep me away! Man up, ya coward! Show me what you can REALLY do!"
To entice him to comply, Gaz sent a bolt of lightning aimed directly for his crotch. Gaz had learned long ago to stop fighting fair with villains.

Jayne called another chunk of stone up, knocking the first out of the air as her own fell harmlessely in front of her. She climbed on top of it, pointing at Fafnir while proclaiming "Who do you think you are, challenging me? I am the last of the Wilkes clan, the greatest line of mages in history! Your powers have got nothing on bona fide magic!"
She flipped open her book and recited a spell nearly from memory. The book was mainly for show. When she was finished, a golem of earth rose from the floor, glowing red just underneath the surface. It groaned as it charged Fafnir, leaping into the air to attack him.
