"I, well, I guess that is a good reason to, but... you know, I just don't want him to. I just want him to be safe for a bit, you know? I just want to know he's safe more than he's fighting. I wish he could put this past him and just go home some times..." She trialed off in thought, and looked up at Emily, expecting to be scolded. Why can't I just want him to be safe? What's so bad with that? Why can't anything go right for me...

Amaranth realised he could not win in a fight like this, so he converted his weapon into a much larger one, making it mostly into a shield. He blocked all of the oncoming attacks, each hit empowering his shield with more energy.

<spoiler=CJ>Fafnir was frolicking on the ground destroying stuff... He is not in the air and his belly is not exposed...

Whuh? It seemed to me like he was in the air. Just... seriously? I could have sworn he was flying.

Jason lunged forward, bringing his blade down in an arc to smash against Amaranth's shield. Flames burst outward, bursting out sideways and up into the air, but not harming either of the fighters. Jason seemed to be struggling to break through Amaranth's shield, but he wasn't giving up.

"What's the matter Amaranth? Are you just going to hide behind your shield or will you come out and finish this like a man?" Jason growled.

Emily nodded, and kept moving them up out of harms way. The flames from Jason's attack could be seen from were they were in the sky, and Emily seemed perturbed by them.

"They've never been that intense..." Emily muttered almost to herself.

"You know me, quite content to hide behind this shield." Amaranth replied, semi joking with Jason. He was true to his word though, and didn't leave the safety of his shield.

"I find that truly pathetic... But if that is what you want, then it just makes your death come so much quicker." Jason said, bringing a hand away from the hilt of his sword and letting a glowing black orb grow. He didn't let up his other attack however, but let the energy in his palm erupt and surge towards Amaranth.

Somewhere deep in the back of Jason's mind, a dark entity approved, lending its strength towards Jason's cause. It couldn't be clearly distinguished, but the longer Jason stayed like this, the closer the entity came to being released again.

Rachel was frightened by Emily saying that the flames had never been that big before, and moved back a few inches. "Is... is he going to be okay? I mean, that doesn't look so good..." She said,, clearly worried. If he dies, I'm not really sure I can take it. Two people I really cared about dying so close together...

Fafnir turned to hear the yell of Oliver. The arrow fired to quickly for him to dodge, and pierced his stomach. He roared out with pain, but did not collapse. He held one hand over the wound, and ripped out the arrow, blood pouring out of the wound.

The Dragon looked down at the wound, and roared loudly, breathing fire over the wound to seal it back up. "I am not like that weak Smaug!" he roared out, then took flight again. It began burning more things in the direction of Oliver. The flames were much weaker than before, but still potent enough to kill people. His tail whipped around, smashing through whatever building Roxanne was in.

Amaranth extended his shield, blocking both attacks. He saw a crack appear on the shield, and sighed heavily. "Damn it" he yelled out as he grabbed the rest of his energy dust. It was too much for him to handle, but it might as well be done now.

He shoved it all into his mouth, and felt the energy rush into him. It was too much to handle, even more than he thought. His mid settled into a state of unconsciousness, his eyes glowing a faint yellow, as wit the rest of his body. It dropped the shield, and jumped back, forming a massive energy blade into its hands and waited Jasons next strike.

<spoiler=OOC>btw, Who plans on keeping their old characters in the next arc? I just want to know... Since it might change how this ends...

Oliver's lost too much to just die here, so I think I'll keep him. It's taken an entire RP, but I think I've made him slightly less of a dick than he was in the first one. How big will the time skip be?

Oliver created another shield with his energy arm. The flames licked around it, but were unable to pierce it. He attempted to counter, but collapsed, his mind running through many thoughts. However, he was most focused on one: How does he know a fictional character from less than a century ago?

May took it upon herself to continue the battle for him, and charged in at blinding speed, still fresh while the other combatants were on their last legs. She held up her sword as she charged directly under Fafnir, intending to slice open his stomach.

Jason smiled, liking the way things were finally turning out. He lunged forward, lashing out with a flurry of strikes, each faster than a normal human could ever achieve.

"I haven't seen this type of fire power since Dark Fire was released... Its probably nothing but..." Emily trailed off and refused to look at Rachel again.

Emily remembered when Dark Fire was released last time. He had given Jason immense power, and had kept him alive after Gray had impaled him. He had recently been sealed away in the darkest part of Jason's soul, but it appeared that he was resurfacing. It was only a matter of time now before Jason would begin his transformation.

Well, last time I tried I had to bring my character in, so... yeah, Rachel is staying. I was actually hoping this would be the last arch, though, and that we could do a little thing like the ending of (yes, I have been playing it FAR too much. It's a bit like cocaine to me, now) Fallout: New Vegas, with a little narration over it... yeah, I'm pathetic, but I will probably be keeping Rachel for all of this.

Rachel looked even more worried. "He's not going to... change, is he? Last time he did he nearly burned the city, down, and before that he.... he almost killed me..." She said, her figure frozen in fear. No, not again. I won't let that... that thing get over him again...

And you don't need to keep her. In this next arc I really plan on having no-one else related. So no different friends, family members or anything like that, just you and the other players... and a few random NPC made by me...

And I dunno, Oliver is still a fair dick...
And since he can't read thoughts, Ill say it here. The legend was created from a Dragon in his time, the story however was exaggerated and told then.

Luckily for Amaranth, at the moment, he was not a regular human. The power coursed through him and he could do things that he never thought he would manage. He knew his muscles were not good enough to block each of Jasons attacks, but his moulding of energy now was. Each strike was defended by a deformation of the energy to stop the attack, followed by another deformation sent as a spear towards Jason.

The sword cut his stomach, but because of his size, the cut was fairly small. The Dragon roared and sailed back higher into the air, away from the crazy woman with her sword. He still sent torrents off ire towards everyone and everything.

Well, he's a dick to his enemies, I know, but I think Oliver's made some serious improvement in relation to his friends. Except Roxanne, but I think that's understandable.

May kicked into super-speed again, avoiding the flames as they burned the surrounding landscape to ash. Oliver, meanwhile, had gathered up enough energy for another attack. He aimed himself at Fafnir, and with all his strength threw himself at the dragon, his arm in the form of a large lance, though he lacked the energy to spin it.

Jason cut through the spear, splitting it in half as if it was nothing at all. The energy dissipated, and Jason followed up with a counter-attack. He brought his blade down with an intense force, the moment the blade struck the ground, a pillar of flames burst upward hundreds of feet into the air. It could be seen from all over the island, and it quickly spread outward, incinerating everything in the immediate area. Jason burst out of the pillar, flying up towards Emily's disc while trying to put as much distance between him and his pillar of flames as possible.

His eyes continued to flicker their black color, but not as often. They were no longer permanently black either.

The Dragon roared as Oliver pierced his chest, it finally took him down to earth again. His wings folded and slammed straight down into the earth, breaking open some of the remaining concrete. He roared out in pain, and thrashed a little, still breathing fire as much as he could.

Amaranth moved more of his energy to block the fire pillar. When it cleared, he saw him flying away. "No chance" he said to himself as he moved the shield to his shoulder, holding it like a rocket launcher. Out of the front of it, a massive spike rocketed out, bringing the distance between them both minimal.

Former team-mate then. And Oliver's probably not going to try and kill Jason after all this, so that's a plus right?

Oliver fell down to the earth after Fafnir, collapsing unconscious a few dozen meters away. Luckily, he was behind rubble and unharmed by the flames. May saw that she would need to end the fight, and dashed into the fray, between bursts of flame, and struck at Fafnir's exposed side with her blade.

Jason didn't have time to react, and was struck by the spike. It hit him head on, the spiked tip shattering on his armored hide, but the rest of it striking him with such a force that he was knocked out of the sky. He fell down like a speeding bullet, colliding with a building and causing the entire thing to collapse in on itself in a shower of dust, dirt and debris. Nothing within the rubble stirred, making everyone who had been watching think that he was now dead.

Just as May went to strike, he reverted back into his original shape, being a human again. The attack missed due to his dramatic change in shapes, but now all that lay there was a heavily breathing old man, covered in wounds with Oliver lieing near him.

He looked over to him, "well, I suppose you beat me, but like hell I am letting you kill me." He said as he struggled himself back up. "Or you, no woman is going to beat me." he said as he converted his hand to a claw and slashed his own throat, bleeding out within second and draining away the small amount of like he had left.

The slighlty insane Amaranth laughed loudly, gloating to himself over his victory. He absorbed his own energy again, and could feel the power slowly drain away from him. "No!" he yelled out, trying to keep his energy inside of himself. "No! No no no no nonononono!" he roared out, his mind almost snapping.

He glanced back at the black hole, the one that was sapping his energy and smiled. "Your mine!" he yelled out as he started to run at the rip in the universe.
