Rhythm games. There are few things I hate more than Guitar Hero and it's subsequent following.

Casual Games [http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=282].

Screw you, guitar hero, rock band, wii sports, world of warcraft, and pretty much every other game made in the last ten years (with a few notable exceptions, such as Demon's Souls). And screw you, wii.

Finding a good, challenging game today is like finding a pound of gold that randomly appeared on your back porch.

And to all of you who say you hate sports games: Aw, come on; Blitz: The League 2 is fun. Not particularly great (it suffers from the perpetual easy mode that's been plaguing the last dozen or so years of gaming just like almost every other game out there), but fun. I mean, I love building up my defense so much that I practically win by default just because they've got so many players out of the game. Yay for being encouraged to cause injuries! NHL Hitz and the Monster League games were the same way - simply awesome.

Seriously, though, Demon's Souls has forced me to start paying attention again. It's not that it's extremely hard; simply put, it's very good at punishing you for getting distracted, or rushing, or anything like that. It forces you to learn - which is something that has been missing from gaming for a while, now. In the other "difficult" games, you are basically doing the same thing over and over, hoping for a lucky break. Demon's Souls, you're forced to try a different thing each time.

Except with Maneater. I didn't like that boss. He was mean.

Not too big off a fan of sports games, although the FIFA games amused me whenever I would play it.
Anything with Japanese drawing style, I just don't like it.

EDIT: Oh and music games, I really hate those.

Close tie between sports and strategy. I'm gonna say strategy because it's just sooooo boring (IMO) whereas I guess there's some pace in a sport game.

Sports games. I would also say casual games, because I usually play them for maybe a couple of hours tops and then get bored with them.

First Person Shooters, I foolishly assumed that the Trillions of people who enjoy FPSs couldn't all be wrong, when I tried the Metroid Prime Trilogy, much as the game was well made, it just wasn't fun for me.

MMORPGs I can never seem to get into these games, I mean I'll give them ago but I never stick with them, always get bored after a few minutes.

RTSs. When I rented Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, I thought it would essentially be Call of Duty in an open world, but it relied far too much on commanding your team for me to like it. I also dislike sports games for the most part, although I'm interested in trying an MMA game.

- Sports games (except motorsports), but I liked International Track & Field on the PS1
- MMOs
- Games-made-by-blizzard genre

Mine is fighting games because even if you master all the controls, moves, attacks, characters, etc. You can still get your ass kicked by someone mashing buttons.
See, no. The point that you (and Yahtzee, btw) are referring to is the point where you know what is it is you need to do, you just have no idea how to do it. It can take quite a while to actually understand, "okay, he's just spamming. I can just ______ and he'll be dead in no time!"

Does that make sense?

Not saying you have to love fighting games now, I just really hate that argument.

OT: my least favorite genre would have to be RTS(es?).
I just cannot get the hang of them...

Probably racing games, with the exception of Mario Kart and Burnout games, but those hardly count.

Most MMORPGs, sports games, racing games and "realistic" FPSs (like Battlefield) and JRPGs. Of course, there are exceptions.

Oh, and console platformers. Basically, any console game ported to the PC rather than having been built for the PC. Bad controls, bad graphics, poor voiceacting, lame storylines, usually bad gameplay.. I could go on.

Oh, and Metal Gear Solid. Fuck that shit.

JRPGs. I tried one of the GBA Final Fantasy remakes (I think it was 4) and it just bored me. Mario & Luigi series is the exception.
