Wow...now you're just being an ass. Neo-Amish? Maybe I don't need my computer for anything else?
You're saying you don't care about computing getting better because you're happy with things now. That's basically the logic the Amish use to argue why technology shouldn't have moved passed horseless carriages and homespun cloth. Just because you don't care, doesn't make it any less important.

I talk to my family through skype and I write stories?
This is a statement, there shouldn't be a question mark at the end unless you're confused about whether or not that's what you do with your computer.

That's all I really need it for? You want to.. ..dismiss my points, that's your decision.
You make it really easy by using the same defunct point over and over. 'console is cheaper because I already bought it.' That's not a point that's an acknowledgement of a bad decision.

I'm glad you enjoy your PC and I'm glad your proud of it.
I'm no more proud of being primarily a PC user than I am of being able to spell my own name. Which is to say not at all. Because points of pride are reserved for being able to do something that requires actual skill or talent.

I'm proud of my console and yes I'll probably get the next generation of consoles. Why?
Because you take pride in paying more money for less product?

Because I'm a console gamer who doesn't have time to figure out why her computer isn't running atm.
Because you either don't know how to not download viruses, or you have let your fan accumulate a ridiculous amount of dust. Buy compressed air, shoot it all over the inside of your computer every two weeks to a month. Or if the former problem, stay away from porn sites, stop downloading toolbars, or buy an antivirus program like norton.
And if that is not the problem then it should have a statistically equivalent ratio of breaking down to a console. The only difference would be that you could replace a single part(likely for less than 20$ if your computer is a year+ old) rather than rebuying a whole new console system.

I've watched one of my friends (who is far more tech savvy than I am, though you likely have a snarky remark for that too) struggle with the computer her built. Bad parts sent by companies, parts failing, and problem after problem.
I have assembled or helped assemble at least 8 computers. I have only had one such circumstance where a part that was new did not work. We returned it got a new one and everything worked fine thereafter. Your friend is either not nearly as tech savvy as you think she is or she is extremely unlucky. Assuming the latter, I've heard people complain about their console systems constantly breaking so being unlucky isn't magically something that only 'PC gamers' have to deal with.

Combine.. ..with your attitude and I'm pretty much off buying gaming computers.
