I'm currently awaiting the demo for PC - pre-loading it as we speak. Hoping it's good.

you can feel the differnace. Itsa not addicting, its not as fun, its got new guns but for anyone who knows what these guns feel like in real life will tell you these guns feel very wrong, the atmosphere is wrong the game just isn;t as fun

I don't have the demo yet, cause I didn't preorder it. I'll probably get L4D2 for Christmas, but judging from the gameplay footage, it IS quite diffrent than L4D. I hope it will turn great, tough because I think that because of all the blood on the screen, it will be hard to see wtf you're doing.

Remember how a lot of people thought that L4D2 wasn't going to be much different to L4D at all? (Read: boycotters)
Yeah especially when they said "judgement cannot be passed on L4D2" and basically said they're sure its a good game its just going to split the L4D community effectively nullifying all worth of a product they had just purchased less than a year ago. Yknow, their actual stance and reason behind the entire thing.

Oh wait... that doesn't make sense. I guess you must have gotten caught up in all the media slag thrown at them as you danced to their happy little tunes (read: are an idiot)

Also it plays exactly like L4D, it just has more of everything. That's really it, right down to the crescendo events (thus far anyways).

Yeah of course it's different, I think that's obvious. Who the hell said it wasn't?
Looks good so I might buy it, though I can see why the boycotters were angry. L4D will become redundant after L4D2.

It's a lot smarter. The special infected actually try to work together now. You'll have Hunters serving as distractions for other SI. You'll have Smokers pulling you into witches. Boomers hiding behind alarm cars. Those are just a few examples.

And here I thought the point of a demo was so you could try the game before you buy it.

Silly me.

One thing that did bug me was the friendly AI and how it just couldn't keep up with me but otherwise it is a must have for me.

You can feel the difference with it at the very moment you start playing. Everything feels different, and it's fucking good. Who else has the demo, and what do you think of it?
Any chance of enlightening the rest of us what "feels different and it's fking good" means?
My pleasure. Well all of the weapons feel different, for example the vibration feedbacks have been altered for pistols and also they move differently when they shoot. They don't fly upwards with as much force anymore so they're easier to use and you can fire quicker. All the reloads have also been made to look more authentic and they look like a lot more effort has been put into the weapons. Also the game itself just feels different, like the weapons are more scattered around rather than coming across a table and findind the 3 guns laid out perfectly. It feels more like a survival horror.

Ah I knew someone was going to get unnecessarily defensive over that. In fact that wasn't influenced by media at all, because I like you I realise that the media lie, a lot. No, I actually talked to some of the boycotters, although admittedly it seemed that many of them were boycotting for different reasons. Many of them said that they were boycotting because they wanted the L4D2 content not to be a new game in its own right, but rather an add-on to L4D. So I'm going to forget you've needlessly insulted my intelligence because I know that if you are an intelligent, reasonable person you'll at least calm your approach a bit.

I've quoted you again Mazty because I want to read this bit which should've been included in my first answer to you:
TO answer both of your questions, infected now come at you, to put it bluntly, whichever way they fucking please. Remember in L4D how they'd frequently all file in through one doorway? Not anymore. Now they'll come from every which way you look. Rooftops, over fences, out of buildings...it truly is epic, and really feels much more exhilarating.

"talked to some of the boycotters"? Did you actual read the 'manifesto', because that's what I was paraphrasing. I can't help feeling you misunderstood something, because I never took the boycott as having that view, ESPECIALLY not the leaders. But perhaps the people you talked to misunderstood the boycotters views themselves, or had their own views, its hard to say. I mean I could say people from the united states are all gay, based on talking to a couple gay people from the US, but that doesn't make it a fact. It's just an observation taken from an entirely too small sample size.

To be perfectly honest I really didn't like the L4D2 demo, and may well cancel my pre-order until I can play the full game elsewhere and decide on it...

The atmosphere is non-existent, the "fun-factor" just isn't there, the presentation no longer gritty and the gore childish and overdone....

In L4D: The AI director controled the spawning of infected and survivor items. It used a varying number of factors to determine how many horde to spawn, when to toss in special infected, and where special weapons would be found. It you were doing too good, it'd throw a little extra at you and vice versa.

In L4D2: The AI director can now modify the path you can take to the saferoom. A doorway you took one time could be blocked another. The special infected are also more challenging, as in the seem to work together better. As in a jockey jumping you to move you to a witch. They also stalk you better.
