Very well put.teh_Canape said:may I say, this isn't a console war, it's a fanboy war
console war was back in the day, when the companies were the ones that had at each other
Sega, would be my primary example
straight up bashing on Nintendo with their classic "Sega does what Nintendon't"
or when the ColecoVision released the add on to play Atari 2600 games
would you imagine if that kind of shit happened today? like, say, Sony releasing an add on that allows the PS3 to play Xbox 360 games?
You're right. This isn't a console war. It's just the fact that the gamer community is a Broken Base [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BrokenBase]. Each side is angry that not everybody uses the same system they do.
Probably the only way to end the wars would be to standardise the hardware and OS for all gaming computers (be they intended to be hooked up to a TV, a computer monitor, or have a screen built-in). General-purpose computers have had the hardware standardised for years, and even on the OS front, there's really only three to choose from. Two if you plan on building the computer yourself.
