I agree. I doubt the Fallout MMO will come to fruition. They have to deal with canon of a series they haven't made the last two games for.
Bethesda had to deal with the canon of Fallout 1 and 2, and they didn't exactly do a great job at that. Also, in many of the court cases over the years Bethesda have actually had the gall to say that Interplay will make an inconsistent plot with the lore and put a black mark on the Fallout series.

I find that too ironic to handle. Yeah sure Interplay have screwed up badly with the Fallout games, but Fallout 3 wasn't exactly the most welcomed game by many fans and didn't exactly do a great job at consistency when compared to New Vegas.

I really just wish Bethesda would allow Obsidian to continue the Fallout series, they really do deserve it. Bethesda have their own hugely successful IP that's making millions that they created and they know how to make.

I'm probably overeacting to this, but I've already witnessed many of my favourite series plunge to their doom, I don't want to see that again.

Again, my introduction to the series was with Fallout 3, so that's the benchmark for me.

And I agree. Obsidian should keep making the Fallout games. Quite a few members of their team come from Black Isle, so I think they have a good grasp on the series.

My thought on the MMO is that there will be two types of players: the new players (People like me who got into the series with Fallout 3) and the old players (People who were there from the start). What one group wants in terms of lore and tone will likely be disliked by the other side. So they have to decide which group they wish to pander to

An interesting aside. It's cool that a lot of Van Buren made it into New Vegas. It would be a shame for so much hard work just to be completely lost.

As for your your Tenpenny question:
You said Roy is pretty evil, right? Well can you let the ghouls in and kill Roy afterwards (Ha! Kilroy..), even if it isn't an explicit quest objective? It's a role playing game after all. Maybe Lily thinks that the ghouls will eventually be in deeper trouble so long as Roy is with them.

This may make me look like a hypocrite, but Fallout 3 was my introduction to the series too. However, I wasn't really a massive fan of some of the aspects of Fallout 3, and being Fallout 3, I took it upon myself to investigate the originals to make a final judgement. I did this and realised some of the things that were wrong with Fallout 3, I also looked into the Fallout wiki to delve more into the lore and expand my understanding of the Fallout universe.

One of my main inspirations to do this was that many of my favourte series have been destroyed by other developers and because of that I can understand how people who grew up playing Fallout 1/2 can feel angered by Fallout 3 because I've "been there, done that". Fallout: New Vegas showed me that a Fallout game that felt more like the originals in terms of story and all that could be possible and yadda, yadda...that's my stance on the Fallout series. I probably just bored you with all that but I needed to get it off my chest.

I don't support the MMO either, however, I don't really support Bethesda that much either. Interplay isn't what they used to be, and Bethesda don't have a good grasp on the Fallout world and their latest RPGs (Oblivion, Fallout 3) just haven't een very strong on the whole RPGness, something that New Vegas improved but still could have done better.

Fallout really is in a sticky situation and how it turns out, well...we'll just have to see.

I use the wiki as well. It's a bit easier than some lore is to grasp though.

No, not at all. It's not boring at all.

I agree. I wonder where the setting for the next Fallout game would be. My vote is Saint Louis.

If it's made by Bethesda it will most likely be set in either the Columbia commonwealth (DC, Virginia, Maryland) or the Eastern commonwealth (W. Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York).

If it's made by Obsidian it will most likely be set in the Four States commonwealth (Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico), North commonwealth (Montana, Wyoming, N. and S. Dakota) or the Northwest commonwealth (N. California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska).

These are the commonwealths (in the Fallout world) that are closer to the respective developers meaning it would be easier for them to scout them and they would already have some knowledge of these areas.

Personally, I would like to see the Gulf commonwealth (Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi) because we barely know anything about them and they could have some interesting areas.

I would agree with you on Florida. Still, I'd like it to be somewhere in the Midwest. What happened to Missouri and Illinois?

Missouri I think is where Fallout: Tactics took place and as for Illinois I know at Chicago there's an Encave base (which ED-E visited).

If you put it in the Midwest or there about, you can have a DLC that involves Cahokia mounds (Which is an awesome place, by the way. And you should totally visit it if you get the chance).

No, don't add more areas for me to explore, I already have enough!

Seriously though, I live in Australia and there are many places to explore here ( I haven't even visited the Great Barrier Reef yet!), in the future I do hope to visit America along with a lot of other countries though, if I have the money :/

Plus, Honest Hearts already inspired me to want to visit Zion national park, and spend the whole time talking like Joshua Graham.

I'd say that if you visit the Midwest, go to the Arch in Saint Louis. Great place full of history. Cahokia mounds is also rather cool. Good history there as well.

I've not been to Australia, and I don't know if I'd go to be honest. The climate is not what I really like.

Haha, don't worry you don't have to advertise St. Louis, I am aware of its existence. And the arch would probably be my first sight if I ever visited.

I just want to know one thing; do the trollies in St. Louis clang, clang and ring, ring?[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]that was a horrible joke[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

There really are some beautiful places to visit though, and if it;s the heat that turns you off just come during winter or any other season besides summer.

Plus you get free Kangaroo rides...ok, not really but still there are some fantastic natural landmarks to be seen. The Great Barrier Reef is beautiful and one of the natural wonders of the world, and due to climate change could be gone within decades so you don't want to miss it.

...I think we've gone a bit off topic.

I know that's a joke about a musical, but I've not seen it, so I've nothing creative or funny to say

I wonder, would a Fallout game work if it were set in Australia?

You're probably aware of this but the funny thing is that one of the main inspirations for the Fallout series in terms of art style and design were the Mad Max films, which were Australian films set in post-apocalyptic Australia. However, the apocalypse in Mad Max is more a government/society collapse than a nuclear one so they're very different and a Fallout game in Australia could work but personally I would prefer it to stay in America for the time being.

I've never actually seen the Mad Max films.

If it did go out of the country, I would like to see a Fallout game set in Canada. Didn't we invade them in the divergent timeline?

If you do ever watch them you'll instantly see the "Fallout" in them, moreso with the second and third films, plus the Fallout games themselve make many references to the films.

Yes, America annexed Canada to help with defending the oil pipelines in Alaska from the Chinese, which lead to the Anchorage Reclamation which was featured not so well in a certain DLC.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Canada
^That gives a good timeline of Canada in the Fallout world.

I'm not sure if we want to find out. If radioactive fallout mutated mostly harmless animals into stuff like radscorpions, cazadors and mirelurks, what would it do to Australia's many deadly, deadly denizens?

And, hey, if it's set in Canada, perhaps there will be radioactive moose and beavers rather than radscorpions (I really hate those things)
