The new Firestorm leaves very little to clean up. Beginning to think Ninjablu is taking all the glory. Still, the eyes as keen as ever, finished two aliens in the same number of missions.

Lads are happy that we finally have something to aim for, Cydonia. Should be a good scrap, once we work out how to get there of course.

Life on Mars eh? Oh Bowie, if only you knew I could answer your question now.

X-Com Incident Report, 12th July

When I said that we would be busy, I had no idea how correct I was going to be. The first intercept of the day came in in the early morning.

The aliens are scouting for yet another base location. They are stepping up their efforts in response to the increased threat X-Com is presenting. This vessel was intercepted and destroyed.

In the early afternoon, another was picked up.

This was a new type of UFO, larger than previous vessels that had come to strip resources from earth. Yet another sign of the war's escalation.

It was intercepted over Mexico and crash landed.

No sooner had the call came in that the harvester was downed, another scout vessel appeared.

It came in over South East Asia and was pursued and downed by the Firestorm stationed there.

Report Ends

----

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Crash Recovery 35

The team launched once more, to pick up the remains of the scout that came looking for the US facility. As soon as the ramp dropped, the first alien was spotted.

AceDiamond began scouting the area, and Vanilla Gorilla liquidated the enemy.

Soon after disembarking, AceDiamond spotted another alien to the east.

He relayed it's position to Kevvers, who blasted it.

This flushed out another to the north of it.

Which was dealt with by Schizzy.

AceDiamond began heading southeast, skimming the treeline, he spotted another alien in a valley hiding from the squad.

Looney took her flying suit to maximum altitude to get an angle, and shot the creature dead.

The LZ was clear, and the team made ready to enter the UFO. As they did, they spotted the crew bunched up towards the control stations.

Vanilla Gorilla opened fire and downed the first alien.

At which, the interior of the UFO erupted with plasma bolts, the final two aliens fell in a deadly crossfire between Vanilla Gorilla and Preacher Saul.

Report Ends

----

Mission Debriefing, General McSwine

Once again, an alien vessel is recovered and any intelligence it had gathered is lost to our enemies. There are still many downed vessels to recover, however. The skyranger is being refuelled as quickly as possible.

----

Excerpt Personal Journal, General McSwine

Day 194, The beginning of the end.

The war has reached it's peak. Alien incursions are more or less constant now. With attempts to subvert governments spreading now to Australia. In order to deal with this increased level of alien activity, I have authorised requisition of a second Skyranger for the interim.

However, we are not idle, our scientists have completed the interim prototype for a strike craft to take us to Mars.

This vessel is not the one that will do the job, but it represents the first step towards one that will. Whilst the skyranger was being fuelled up, the harvester shot down in Mexico went quiet. Satellite imagery indicated that it had been destroyed, evidently self destructing to prevent capture.

----

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Crash Recovery 36

By the time we reached this vessel, a Muton base scout downed over India, it was night. The squad disembarked carefully, spotting the first alien to the East.

Vanilla Gorilla opened fire and killed it.

Another was spotted to the West by Longshot, who put it down.

And another to the northwest, gunned down by Kevvers.

Movement in the trees to the North indicated that another alien was outside, and a tense search began. Eventually, Schizzy laid eyes on the alien.

And was able to shoot it.

The team swept the rest of the LZ, but found no more outside. They lined up and breached the UFO. The crew were once more concentrated around the control stations.

Longshot opened fire from the western breach, and killed one.

And then another.

Whilst Schizzy blasted the final one from the doorway.

Report Ends

----

Mission Debriefing, General McSwine

For now, we have time to rest. The Ethereal scout also self destructed whilst the skyranger was in the air. As soon as we recieve the second Skyranger on requisition, we will be able to handle more missions at once, and will be able to arrive in time to prevent the aliens scuttling their vessels.

...wow. Just wow. So I got a bit more intimate with Ilyana last night... she's a fiery woman. I really needed that. So much love bottled up. This will definitely develop, if I can help it. What a lady... that was one hell of a birthday gift.

Been upping the training a lot lately. I think I might be able to return to the field soon. Not that I want to, right now, but I will want to when it is time.

Anyway, I heard we will be able to invade them back in not too long. Mars, huh... I guess it makes sense, considering its climate and all. But when we strike back, it will be in one fell swoop that we destroy them. We'll concentrate our might in one focused assault. Not like this wuss tactics they use. Ah, how I long to crush them.

-Higs, empowered as hell.

God its nice to be out of that freaking sickbay. Don't know how Higs has handled it as long as he has, though I have my suspicions.

So we are going to Cydonia. I figured Mars would be a likely candidate, but I didn't have any clue where they would hide a base up there. The Sci Div guys are working their asses off to get us a craft capable of taking us to Mars. But until then, we are going to have our hands full taking care of the invaders attempts to destroy us. Well, I am headed for the range, need to get some practice in. Sitting on my ass all that time in the sickbay didn't help my accuracy any.

oh, aye. I'm going to run out of paint space at this raet. Since I got me a Firestorm, I've dropped more ships'n I can count on both mae hands. And now 'm in America, daft buggers they are for commisteratin' wit' tae enemy forces. Least I managed ta stop the harvest of man. I'll drink to that one alone.

Ah've submitted a request that when we do go to Cydonia, two things happen. The first is that I get ta pilot the ship that goes. The second is that we get to play a littl' music from the only place I hate more than Mars reght now: England.

If the chances of anything coming from Mars are one now, are the aliens going to try and sue Orson Wells? Or was that just a REAL test run?

Personal message to all the boys.....

Thanks for all the live specimens that we have been receiving lately. Mars, hmmm, it all seems too easy. This could be just a forward base, more "tests" will confirm this. Thanks for censoring the reports, I wouldn't want to put any one off their dinner. Wish there was more I could do, so any spare seats on the road to Mars and I'm there!

Good luck in the field *salute*

X-Com Incident Report, 15th July

Even though our enemy is now set on preventing capture of his vessels wherever possible, he still sends them to vex us.

Another ship was detected looking for the base in the United States. It was shot down, and the Skyranger left to retrieve it.

Report Ends

----

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Crash Recovery 37

This area was heavily forested, so the skyranger had to touch down some distance from the target. No aliens fired from the treeline, and the team dispersed until they spotted the first hostile.

It's position was well covered by the trees and the downed vessel, but Combined II was able to get a bead on it and fire.

The rest were hiding inside the UFO. On this occasion, the team had left without high explosive packs, as the latest requisition had not arrived, so Cyberoth II used his blaster launcher to open the wall up.

The team converged on the entrance, and spotted two further crewmembers in the interior.

Kevvers stepped in and blasted both.

Whilst Combined II pursued an alien engineer into the central room and killed it.

Report Ends

----

Mission Debriefing, General McSwine

This vessel was noticably short on crew. It could be that the alien foe is holding back forces for some major operation, we must be vigilant.

----

Excerpt Personal Journal, General McSwine

Day 207, Reorganisation.

After losing two crashed vessels to self destruct, and knowing that the pace of the war was not about to abate, we requisitioned a second skyranger. Today it arrived.

The men are now split into two squads. Squad A in the first skyranger will consist of Birras, Jack Lavisn, Schizzy, Bling Cat II, RootOfAllEvil, Cyberoth II, Dekkarax, Kevvers, Combined II, and Higurashi (as soon as he is out of sickbay)

Squad B, in the new vessel, will be Armitage Shanks, Looney, CAPSLOCK FURY, Gamebrain89, Longshot, Vanilla Gorilla, Doomsly McSlaughter, ANTX81, Valiance, and Preacher Saul

This new structure will give us the ability to engage and recover two targets at once.

----

X-Com Incident Report, 17th July

Our new ability to engage multiple crash sites came into it's own sooner than we'd ever have expected. First of all, another Harvester vessel was detected on approach to North America.

It was shot down over the western United States, and Skyranger 2 was dispatched to recover it. Whilst the team was in the air on their outbound flight, two more alien vessels, supply ships en route to establish a base in Central Asia, were picked up. This brought to mind the last time the aliens openly established a base on Earth. Then, we could do nothing but watch as their ships went where they pleased.

This time it was different.

Both were intercepted by Firestorms, and both were downed. One in the arctic tundra of Canada, one over China. Skyranger 1 was dispatched to the crash in Canada to recover. (Despite his protestations, the docs still don't want to let Sgt. Higurashi out of medical for another day, so the bird is a man short)

Both skyrangers were in the air, having the shorter journey, Skyranger 1 arrived first.

----

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Crash Recovery 38

This UFO was crewed by Mutons, and held much of the required materiel to establish a facility on Earth, it was expected that the squad would face stiff resistance.

Dekkarax spotted the first alien

He opened fire and scored hits, but the alien didn't go down. Kevvers moved in to support, and the creature finally died.

Fire from the east indicated the presence of another hostile. It was sheltering under the bulk of the UFO.

Schizzy was able to move into position to get a clear shot and terminate the attacker.

At this point, the Mutons inside the vessel mounted an abortive offensive out of the western door. Two rushed out and were swiftly killed, though one fired a stun bomb which did nothing to power armoured soldiers, and shots into the interior killed another inside.

The team counterattacked and pursued the aliens inside their vessel.

One was waiting at the western door.

Another at the East was distracted by the first team's entry.

Both were gunned down.

Another two charged down the western grav-lift.

The team was ready for them though, and they both died.

The team at the east headed for the third floor, where another Muton exchanged fire with Bling Cat II. She hit the alien and it retreated. Schizzy pursued and killed it.

Report Ends

----

Mission Debriefing, General McSwine

This was the first mission in another busy day for X-Com. Skyranger 2 is about to land at the Harvester crash site, and as soon as Skyranger 1 returns and is refuelled they will be heading to the other Supply Ship. We do not know if this will provoke the aliens to land in a Battleship to establish their base, but if they do, we will make them pay dearly.

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Crash Recovery 39

This mission represented something the crew had not experienced for some time. An assault on a new UFO class with an unknown interior layout. Deployment was by the book, floaters were spotted to the north and west.

Doomsly McSlaughter shot the one to the north, a hail of fire from the squad made claiming the second kill impossible, but it too was quickly put down.

AceDiamond scouted to the northwest of the LZ, and spotted another alien hiding behind a heavily wooded hill. None of the rest of the team could get into firing position, so he took the shot himself and terminated the creature.

Meanwhile to the west, Doomsly McSlaughter spotted another floater out in the open.

Neither Looney nor Armitage Shanks could fail to hit* such an exposed target, and it was swiftly killed. Vanilla Gorilla resumed the advance and spotted another behind it, which also fell to the squad's fire.

This new UFO class had access doors on two walls, so it was decided to use those rather than breach in. The team entered and encountered no resistance on the first floor.

It was clear from the contents of this floor that this UFO served as a collection vehicle and mobile slaughterhouse for livestock. Evidently the aliens sustained themselves by raiding Earth for food.

As the team were about to move to the second floor, Preacher Saul spotted a floater in the gravlift well.

He blasted it to clear the way for the team to move up, and they did, sweeping the second floor and finding no more resistance than on the first. Unlike many previous vessels, the lift to the second floor did not lead to the top floor, two further lifts at the rear of the vessel were discovered leading up. As the team prepared to assault the top floor, a floater came down the eastern one, right in front of Gamebrain89 and Looney.

It was foolishly facing away from the squad, a mistake it did not survive.

Once more the team moved up, and discovered that like the bridge was a large open space, one alien was immediately spotted by Preacher Saul.

And just as quickly dealt with, whilst Doomsly McSlaughter burst out of the western lift in a pincer attack, and spotted another alien.

Which was also dispatched.

Report Ends

----

Mission Debriefing, General McSwine

The destruction of this vessel marks a significant logistical blow against our enemy. These are the largest vessels we have encountered harvesting resources from Earth, and denying those supplies to our foe will make our goal easier.

Additionally, whilst you were out on mission, we recieved word from the science division that they have a craft which will reach Mars with a full squad.

We have dedicated all engineering assets to immediate production of this vessel.

We have entered final preparations for the assault on the aliens' headquarters. Since the mission will require fire and scouting support like no other, we will be taking a hovertank, this will mean that AceDiamond will need to be on the Avenger to pilot it, as we have not been able to miniaturise the hyperwave tranciever sufficiently to allow him to remain on Earth. Ninajblu will be piloting the vessel to Mars, and he will be transferred to this facility so that he and AceDiamond can be trained to operate Power Armour. All power suits and flying suits are being pressure sealed to operate in zero oxygen conditions, and drilling and familiarisation with extra atmospheric safety will begin as soon as this is complete.

Despite the dangers involved and the mission we have to do, I can barely contain the excitement of being one of the first people to go to Mars. Granted we're not going there to take a giant leap for mankind, well actually I guess we are. That giant leap just happens to contain a lot of plasma.

Power Armor training has just recently begun for me, as well as usage in a wrist-mounted computer that will control all of Tom Servo's functions when we're on Mars. I have to say that it's a little awkward at first getting used to the augmented power the suit is capable of, but I seem to be picking it up fast. The suit's power is even offsetting the weakness in my leg, which is a plus.

Work has begun on Project Avenger, the craft that will take us to Cydonia. It's larger and more powerful than any transport or interceptor we've had in the war, and the engineers are working nonstop to get it finished. As an added bonus I happened to catch a glimpse of the dedication plaque from one of the engineers.

OOC: The names on the R&D, Yard Engineers, and Chief of Staff are members of the team who worked on the game. The launch date is a projection based on info in-game

Apparently by the end of the month they plan to have us heading to Mars. Doesn't give me a lot of time to get familiar with everything but I'm willing to work my ass off.

Things have been really heating up recently, you can literally taste it in the air. All the troops know something big is happening, its all we seem to talk about these days. We are going to Mars we are gonna go hit them on their home turf. Lets see how they like it when the fury of the lord is descending from the heavens to smite out the unholy; those whose very existence is a smite against his good name.

The new organization of the squads seems to be working well; the head honchos definitely thought long and hard about who works well with who, and the ensuing success of the squads is a testimony to how well they got it. It feels good knowing that the good word of Saul is behind my every action, baking my righteous fury with his divine connection with the lord.

I still can't believe we are going to Mars. I hope you are ready foul xenos scum, for the fury of CAPS is coming to deliver unto you righteous vengeance.

Have not even time to jot my thoughts down lately. Too much has been happening. We have been on mission alert for two days now. Most of us have only gotten 4 hours of sleep with the increased sorties.

Despite the exhaustion, we're still at peak efficiency, a testament to Colonel Shank's training regime. Even when I'm running on auto-pilot the aliens don't stand a chance now. I have stopped keeping count of my kills since. Hope we'll all get some decent rest before we head to this place called Cydonia.

I must admit, despite my bleary state, I'm impressed with the new Avenger craft, the steed that shall deliver us to Cydonia. It's a real beast, able to carry 4 UCVs, we'll be able to bring the war back to the aliens' base of operations.

Heard that comrade Ace is training up too to come with us. Am glad that he'll be coming with us. Wouldn't want him to miss out on the action.

Must remember to payback Sgt. Evil for the blaster bomb pillow prank before we leave.

End log.

Aliens are keeping us on our toes... Alien crafts are being intercepted more and moer frequent, and us X-Com's are there, every time, to do the dirty groundwork.
The suspense before our trup to Mars is strong... I wonder wo will be drafted to the striketeam?
Speaking of teams, the team has been divided. I'm pretty happy with my team, although I must say my heart sunk a bit, when the Preacher was placed with us. It's not that I don't respect a man of the cloth and all.. But his constant sermons and holier-than-thou attitude is getting on my nerves... Well, he's not actually that much in the face, but he is a constant reminder of some of the... less nice things I have done in my former merc-career. I thought a hole man would be good at first, you know, a little soulfood... But all he does is gnaw at my conscience... Just by being around...

I'm giving it my best in the battles against the aliens. 3 kills as of late... Plus one at the last raid, but they guys won't let me claim it... "It could have been anyone's bolt" they say... X-Com Incident Report, 18th July

There was to be no respite from alien incursions it seemed. In the early hours of the 18th, yet another alien vessel was detected.

It was intercepted over California and shot down. Before a team could be readied to retrieve it however, a higher priority target appeared.

Once again, a Firestorm rose to meet this intruder, and it was shot down over Indonesia. Skyranger 2 has launched to intercept it, Skyranger 1 is en route to the remaining downed supply vessel.

----

X-Com Battle Report, UFO Crash Recovery 40

Once again, a tough battle was expected for X-Com's soldiers, a fully crewed supply vessel awaited us, and we cannot afford losses to injury or death at this stage in the war.

The first two hostiles were swiftly identified.

Combined II hit the one to the north.

And Jack Lavish took down the one to the southwest.

The team began to disperse and check the surrounding buildings. As they did so a muton took a shot at the hovertank. It's shots went wide however, and AceDiamond returned fire with greater success.

More fire at the tank from the same corner indicated the presence of another Muton, AceDiamond engaged it, hitting it twice and wounding it.

Whilst at the same time a firefight broke out at the western door of the UFO. Two mutons were cut down at the doorway as they attempted to assault X-Com personnel, and a stun bomb sailing out of the darkness of the interior was answered with a hail of plasma. Not having time to rejoin the squad, AceDiamond chased the Muton that fired at the tank into the nearby barn.

He shot the creature again, but again it kept going.

At this point, the squad counterattacked and breached the UFO.

Higurashi and Combined II blasted the two mutons to the west.

Whilst Kevvers flanked the one AceDiamond had chased into the barn and shot it.

And Schizzy dealt with the one on the eastern side of the UFO.

One of the aliens wounded in the earlier firefight appeared to wake up at this point, but was as swiftly put back down.

And another which came down the western lift was also shot by the waiting team.

Higurashi began the assault on the second floor, coming face to face with a waiting Muton.

He blasted it and the rest of the squad followed up the lift. Another muton entered the lift room, but fled again before the squad could shoot it. Higurashi pursued it and killed it.

Meanwhile, the team on the top floor reached the bridge, where a lone Muton was encountered and terminated by Kevvers after a brief exchange of fire.

We have destroyed yet another alien attempt to establish a base on Earth. If nothing else, we will have delayed the establishment of this base, by the time the aliens can bring another ship to try again, it may well be too late for them.

Ah! It's so very good to be out in the field again! So very good. I had the excellent privilege to face one of the freaks up close, and the satisfaction that came with burning him down was orgasmic to say the least. On that note, I am burning with a fire unlike any I have experienced so far, at the same time as I have gotten a wholly new perspective on this whole war.

The men are truly relieved to see me back. I see it in their eyes. They tell me it was not the same thing without me, and some of them told me more verbally they'd kick my ass if I got myself that banged up ever again. Hehe.. good ol' Shizzy.
