I found it to be a pretty good anime, a lot better than most of the other "mainstream" works out there, but I've seen better. Code Geass, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Cowboy Bebop, to name a few I've liked more than it.

Still, it has a special place in my heart, seeing as it did get me into anime in the first place, along with, of course, Cowboy Bebop.

Also, unrelated question, is Soul Eater any good?
I thought Soul Eater was okay, the first half was absolutely spectacular, but it completely falls apart in the second half... and the ending, oh god it was a train wreck...

Seriously, if you want to actually see how Light dies, read the last couple manga chapters. No pussyfooting around :)

Well, it's by far the best manga I've read (don't watch anime because I'm to lazy to download/stream it. :D) so far, and I love the characters, mainly because everyone has something to like about them.

My favourite must have been L though. Too bad he died. If only he had known what Kira knew... The series would've been over in 10 minutes after L got introduced. =P (ok, maybe not THAT fast, but you get what I mean)

I thought It was pretty good... It wasn't Code Geass... But it was still good...

Yeah, second half was boring, but I continued to watch it...

I just really wanted Light to die...

Personally I think there are better anime series, such as Code Geass, which is similar but with giant robots.
Especially seeing as both have brilliant first halves which are tense and good, and second halves which make little sense and which are re-runs of pretty much the same thing - R2 was too fan-influenced (hence the super-nuke only blinding Cornelia's knight and other rubbish). At least with Code Geass, R2 had lots of awesome robot fights to take away from stuff like the China arc (when Lelouch became Ledouche and lost any idea of tactics)

Edit: In another thread someone suggested One Piece to me, I watched a little bit of that, most of it seems good but it looks a bit childish. I might watch it though.
keep watching it gets better as it goes and the characters are really well developed

Huh, I see a lot of 'No! MY opinion is right!' on this...

Anyway, I really liked Death Note, but I thought it did go down hill after episode 28. I preferred L to Near because he was funnier and reminded me of myself actually - "I'm childish and hate to lose." Plus cake and tea. Mmm.
I'd also love a Death Note... Dammit, it'd be full after an hour!

Yeah. It was interesting, but there was a few things that made me think "there's something wrong here". Actually, I reckon the characters are pretty shallow and I only enjoyed DN when I didn't know what was going to happen next.

I wouldn't say it's better than Naruto because it did have it's moments of awesome.

Do you like catgirls? Do you not mind if an anime is slightly perveted? If so, I recommend "Asobi Ni Iku Yo!", I'm having so much fun watching it. And if not, then watch Bokurano, it's an extremely underrated anime, and it's very good at screwing with your morals.

I never really liked Deathnote, it started out fine but by the end it boiled down to, "I knew you were going to do that." countered by, "Well I knew that you knew that I was going to do that, so I did this." and I lost all interest... and then bad ending to finish it off...
Edit: if you want a really good psycho thriller check out Serial Experiments Lain or Paranoia Agent...
I disagree, I thought that Death note was a brilliant sreies untill L died, then it was a pretty good series after that but without him it just seemed less focused.
Never liked SE lain couldn't get into it, after getting a quarter of the way through it just seemed like random incoherent junk. Loved Paranoia agent, yeah that probably was better than death note :3
