Actually, the verse says to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you (empahsis mine)." Not to "not do bad things", which is fairly simple. The Bible commands one to do good to others, to care for them as you would yourself. It's not just to refrain from harming anyone, but to help them whenever you can.
