how could you not like anime? It's like the one true good! Its like fuzzy animals hugging their babies or pictures of pretty sunsets!
are you new to the internet? by any chance?
I don't see how my internet experience plays a part in you disliking the absolute good of anime. From the forums of CSPAN to the dredges of 4chan I've yet to hear of someone disliking anime.
Well I guess there were a few people who disliked anime, but most of those were just people who never saw it, upon seeing it they saw the errors of their way and quickly voiced their love as well.
I can't tell if you're being serious or just doing a really good eternal nothingness insanity style post. I've seen anime I like, and I've seen a lot that I despise. I like the 90's stuff, because the character designs weren't as flat as they are nowadays.
I'm curious, can you send me a link to a "classy" eternal nothingness post?

Ah, well, that was kind of the point. I wanted to show the most "noteworthy" things about the franchise instead of obscure songs and characters and things.

Sorry. Hey, I'm glad to find a fellow Touhou fan, though!
Ahh, but I hardly find the MCroll noteworthy. once again, what about the Touhou Dogfights up on youtube, like Utsuho Vs. Reimu, or Cirno Vs. Reimu worked into 3 dimensions. y'think you've had sensory overload from one to many spell cards, those vids will put ya in a spin!

...<--Patchouli and Utsuho Fan, but like plenty more if I can keep the names straight.

One of the best things about the Fandom in my opinion is the music, I'd say. Tracking through some of the playthrough vids or dogfights got me started on the hunt for variants of every character theme, depending on how much I like it. Thats where I became a Flandre nut, thanks Neweastsound.

Really, I didn't pay any attention to Touhou until it started muscling in on my Vocaloid Territory. I should be swinging a stick now, but I was spellbound by Danmaku arrangements like Subterranean Sun, Scarlet Gensokyo, Lava Cromlech, and Harbor Sign "eternally Anchored Ghost Ship" to name a few... to many, maybe.

I'd argue the fact that the patterns are pretty looking and well thought out, each requiring a different approach, some are more like puzzles than just reflex tests honestly. I find it fun to play because I'm a masochist who appreciates a good challenge, it's certainly not for everyone.

The aesthetics are really a mixed bag from game to game, the earlier games really don't hold up well visually. I'd say the twelfth game looks freaking gorgeous, it's very vibrant and colourful game. I will say this though, the guy making these cannot draw for shit, some of his artwork is absolutely atrocious. Yeah, it's a real mixed bag, I'll give you that.

-There's no interesting story to speak of. It's not well written.
-It has a sexualizable female cast. It has 1 dimensional characters.

-It has japanese or fan made voiceovers only. It has a lot of Japanese elements I can't overcome easily as I've grown to dislike them.
-I won't like this if I don't like other bullet hell games.
I'm not disputing any of these, they're bang on true. I like Touhou and I have to concede this, it's written retardedly and the characters are a truly bland bunch, they exist to shoot pretty patterns at you, nothing more. Even the main characters which have substantially more time to develop boil down to them both being twats.

Mainly because I like the gameplay above all I can stand these problems to dodge some rather pretty looking patterns, but I can truly see how it's very much not going to be enjoyable for those not really into bullet hell games.

Too long, and I don't care enough. I mean, good for you to like it, but I can't help but be sceptical given if it's so famous and I've never heard of it. I've not been living under a rock. =p
I saw another thread where you kinda went off on one that nobody had heard of it. Grats to you for trying to educate people, but most won't really care. And you are a little biased, lol.

So, whatevs.

When people talk about it, they are convinced there is nobody in the world who could dislike it once they've "given it a shot." But that just isn't how people work. There are people out there who could sit through both seasons of MLP and come out totally unimpressed and unconvinced of its greatness. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Err, except that I'm not doing that at all about either fandom. I merely made the topic under the premise that some people would be interested in it and that not everyone would hate it.

I think their taste is terrible if they don't like My Little Pony. But whatever. It's just like I respond in all the My Little Pony topics. We don't have to appease their negative opinions, and they don't really deserve to have their negative opinions treated like they matter, should be respect, or influence anyone. Their opinions are inconsequential and should be treated as such.
Sorry, but that's just the feeling I got from the OP. Especially with the title "Lilithslave teaches you about the one true religion." Definitely making it known you're operating under the assumption that everybody you introduce is supposed to like it. Even if that's not what you intended to do, that's definitely the vibe it's giving off.

Maybe if you had introduced it as simply a novelty or something interesting, and then made the discussion about whether or not people have heard of it and what they think of such large fandoms. But for now this just feels like one big "join the herd" thread and any negativity shouldn't be totally unexpected.

Reading this thread all I can think of is trolololololol and its NOT because of Lilith's comments for once. Honestly I'm disgusted by the amount of trolling here on her. (admittedly not everyone is doing such but a fair few posters are some of whom are big names on the forum)

You're right, we should all just sit here and be preached at. I'm being told that a not-at-all innovative game in a dead horse genre is fantastic. Not buying it.

There's nothing to be berated about Touhou's all female cast. It certainly isn't any worse than Team Fortress 2's all male cast.
The two aren't even comparable. The TF2 characters aren't hyper-sexualized or beefcakes. Touhou's characters ARE hyper-sexualized and very cheesecake. You can't tell me there is or ever would be a female touhou character as fat or as well-covered as this guy here:

THAT is the difference between the two. When you get a large group of guys in a video game, or even just one guy really, they don't ALL have to be drop dead sexy or wearing clothes that strategically flaunt their chiseled figures. But a female, or a group of them? They ALWAYS have to be slim and have a good rack. Because fat guys are plump and fluffy and funny. Fat women are ugly and disgusting and horrible shitstains on society.

Looking at this thread again, the OP is very enthusiastic and VERY offensive in her (his?) love for Touhou. Look, LilithSlave; it's fine to like something (except for if it's illegal), but don't force your tastes on other people and essentially call them worthless for disliking what you like. It makes you look insecure, and the Otaku culture doesn't need more insecure individuals forcing their opinions down other people's throats. We already have too many of those people. =P

[EDIT]

Please note that I posted this BEFORE I knew what the word "Cheesecake" actually meant. I personally don't see any of the Touhou characters as hyper-sexualized or as cheesecake material. Also, keep in mind that I've only seen character portraits from the Touhou Wiki.

"Hyper-sexualized"? From looking at a dozen or so character pages on the Touhou Wiki, I would say that near non of the characters are what one would call "Hyper-sexualized". Are they hyper-sexualized in the sense that they don't have any negative bodily features? Because if so, what you're saying would appear to be more of your problem rather than a problem with the series. However, I will 100% agree that cheesecake-ness is plentiful.
