How can anyone not like this game? All right so I'm being really narrow minded there, but It looks FUCKING AMAZING.

1 The graphics are origonal and great technically as well.
2 As previous users have said, It includes true UCG
3 It does have a short single player thing
4 2D Platformers are great, just look at new super mario brothers or the 2d galaxy bits.
5 The multiplayer aspect of sharing your levels and playing on them with your friends looks good fun.
6 It's got sackboys in it!

I Can't believe you people are actually defending this game! It's basically the same as flash games that are on the internet for FREE. There is nothing special about this game at all that no-one else has done, it's going to be overpriced and get the worst reviews ever and Sony are just going to say
"Hey, that was fun. Anymore money to throw down the toilet? OH that's right, this game cost jack all to make since we could have used a flash maker to create it, and we're getting pure profit off the idiots who buy it, all because we designed a helghast model!"

If this game succeeds, then the people who make flash games should start selling them, because they look far better than this piece of s***...
Yeah all right flash games like this do exist, but they don't have the depth or amount of custamising or graphics that this game has. There are shooter games on the internet too but does that stop you playing COD4?

Neither did I. If anything I would probably do as those commercials say and buy a PS3 just for LBP. Sackboy! :D

The reasons I'm looking forward to it:

Side scrolling platformer. I like these kinds of game.
Wife friendly co-op
Lots of replay with custom levels. (Sure many will suck but I'm sure there will be ranking system to filter out the crap)
I can play this shit in front of my young kids without giving them nightmares or pissing off the wife. (The fact that they'll want to play is a negative however)

Yes I'm old. (31)

I'm not sure why everyone's going crazy over a simple casual game. Doesn't the 360/PC have tonnes of those already?

It's the same basic idea of Garry's Mod, or the Halo 3 forge.

People love making crazy stuff together, and then showing it off.

you meh'd? Multiple-effect humidification? You Desalinated sea-water? nice.

Also, this game isn't spore. Did i just blow your mind?

The two games aren't even in the same genre. Take a minute and think on that.

I think the point at which my interest in Little Big Planet died a small, quiet death was at the point Sony decided to show us "Hey, we can do Powerpoint with it!"

That's all very well and good, but I don't care to use it for multimedia presentations, as intersting as that is. Of course, I shouldn't be surprised. Sony seems to want to tell us the PS3 is good for everything BUT playing games (though begrudgingly they admit you can do that if you want to)

And to be honest I was interested in it for a time, but then again not owning a PS3 (and having no desire to do so until it gets about 10 other exclusive titles I want not named Little Big Planet or MGS4), I don't feel like I'll miss anything.

But as nice as the graphics are, aren't all graphics really nice anymore? And your customizable rag doll characters seem more like they'd appeal to young girls over the PS3's hardcore market.
ok, it has nice graphics, that is good
mark_n_b said:
Is there a story to drive the game at all? Get little doll from point A to Point B looks fun, but how do you connect to these abstract little characters or the game world?
and platformers have historically been very popular over all market segments
mark_n_b said:
And as cool as the game may be, to me it looks like it is still just a side scrolling platformer. This is what confuses me the most. And user created content is nothing really new.
UGC may not be new, but very few allow this much customization (supposably)

so we have great graphics, a popular game type, and user generated content in one game, what exactly is the question?

1. Since everything is customizable in the game (I mean EVERYTHING, you can even customize soundtracks) the graphics/art style can be whatever you want to be. Hell, make a spongebob theme for all we care. As for the Doll Customization, since as i've said EVERYTHING is customizable, you can make your Sackboy/Girl whatever you want it to be. There was a LBP trailer and it started out like a Killzone2 trailer, only when it zoomed out it turned out that the Sackboys were customized to look like the Killzone baddies. IT WAS AWESOME! And the whole game is supposed to be simple and fun and lighthearted and the sackboys resemble that fun feel.
If you can make little dolls into Helghast, I am buying this game.

Wait a minute...

I wish it wasn't a PS3 exclusive. This game looks great, but I won't get to see it!
Pre-order it and you can get these two sacks:

Never thought I'd call Kratos adorable.
You're bullshitting me, HOW COME I HAVN'T PRE-ORDERED THIS GAME YET!?!?!?

I really want to answer some of the people here with my own response, but I don't know if I should. I'll answer a few, here goes nothing:

1. @everyone who says "Side-scroller platformer doesn't look fun" or soemthing similar: Again, look at Mario. He's simple and fun so why can't LBP be like that? Plus, you CAN make levels other than just a platforming level. You can make a racing level, last man standing level, whoever gets the most "fluff" wins level, whatever you can think of you could possibly make that level. Hell, I bet you could make a Soccer level with goal posts.

2. @mrnelsby: Yes, that could be possible. But while NWN (I'm assuming on this, correct me if i'm wrong) had this neat little level creator to the side with another nice adventure to the other, the whole point of LBP is to create and share. The story and 50+ levels are probably going to seem like their taked on with some good and some bad levels, but those are supposed to show you what you can do in the overall creation of your own levels.

3. @Decroux: Whoa, calm down there buddy. Can you actually show me those flash games that can let you completely create your own levels? And not those stupid "level creators" that are taked on so you can create your own "mind bending puzzles" as a distraction from the actual game, I'm talking about a whole game based on creating? You know, flOw was a flash game yet people payed good money for the PSN version. Go figure.

4. @ElArabDeMagnifico: You're still bullshitting me? I still havn't preordered this game yet?

5. @ElArabDeMagnifico: YOU'RE BULLSHITTING ME! WHY HAVN'T I PREORDERED THIS GOD DAMN GAME YET?!?!?!

6. @Open Car: Yeah, well, screw you! (JK, I'll give a fair answer) Please show me what XBL game lets you completely create your own levels, customize soundtracks, and other things to the extent that LBP does? And show me what game for PC can do the same things LBP can, and MODS don't count (but maybe Gary's Mod, but it has "MOD" in the title so....)

I really feel like defending to the end, but I really don't want to. Oh well, i'm going to anyway.

As usual people always miss the point. Little Big Planet will be the greatest step up ever for customization. I have already thought of so many scenarios that I can make using the options given to you. Why does everyone keep saying that it is just a side scroller? Why does everyone keep saying that it is boring because you just walk through it? You mean like you walk through Super Mario Brothers? Why are gamers always so ignorant? Can't you see the potential in this game? the levels you can build? the situations you can create? I really don't get it. Spore already looks like crap and a half from my eyes with immature gamers already creating boob and penis monsters. But Little Big Planet brings sophistication and creativity to the table and everyone is on Sony's back already predicting failure. Why, because Sony is making it? I haven't heard a word from anyone about Microsoft blatantly ripping off the WII's avatars or that Spore looks cheap @$$.But as soon as Sony presents anything suddenly the boards light up condemning it.Oh well I should have seen it coming

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't, unfortunately Sony Fanboys will have to get used to it. Maybe that's why there's always alot of PS3 boys trying to defend every little thing someone says wrong about the PS3 (FYI, i'm a Sony guy myself, so I understand)

they have the same prospect

they have u create ur own dude and mess around with itexcept on LBP its scroll based and in spore its kinda an adventure game with a bit of rts action

Plus spore is gonna have better custimization and more replay value

The whole thing with this is called user generated content, and that's exactly what modding is.

In any case, many, many PC games allow the user to create custom maps and add their own music with little effort. Hardly modding. Plus, custom soundtracks have been available in all games since last generation, so it's no big deal really.

Alright, but I am under the impression that Modding requires you to atleast know something about coding and the game itself, while LBP requires little to no effort to "mod" content. You mess up the coding, you're screwed (correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure about that)

I disagree. UGC games are abundant. They ARE old. Just look Starcraft, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, Quake 2, Half-Life, I could go on and on.
I already addressed this. Please read my entire post. The only game you actually listed that has UGC that is easily made and is >trueeverything< would be UGC. That's simply not the case.

UGC is something that is very new. The ability to shape all aspect of everything with ease is something that is not old. Blast Works was the first game that allowed you to do it somewhat and Spore will be the first that allows you to do it within the rules of the game.

UGC does not consist of a map editor or SDK.
Show me what PC game is devoted specifically to "modded" content as most game you would probably just rely on outsider modding or just have a cool little level editor at the side. Those would not be UGC games, those would be games with mods.

And finaly, at the people who are saying "It's spore but not as much customization" or something like that, in spore all you do is create your creature, building, and vehicle (to my/our knowledge).

Can you customize the land? Maybe, but we don't know, but I'd say no. Can you create custom soundtracks (Just for the record, in LBP you can rearange music to make it sound completely different, not just put in a cool song you have on the harddrive)? Maybe, but i'd still guess no.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Spore as the next person, but in LBP you can customize everything, Sackboy, levels, soundtrack, terrain, objects, ect...

But to me, Spore just seems like "The Sims" on steroids that let you customize a little bit more than the original games. That being said, I'm still going to make a bunch of 8-eyed monkeys with suspicoius looking arms and legs...

Let's get something straight here. I am new here and no matter what I say I am not a Sony fanboy. I dropped Nintendo as soon as I realized they were playing the fool and were no longer making good games. Nintendo hasn't made any good new characters in ages and seem to be stuck on mini-games and pointless peripherals. I owe no allegiance to Sony and would drop my PS3 for an Xbox 360 if I thought it was as sucky as many people say. But the Sony has given me years of great and satisfying gaming experiences including Killzone, Sly Cooper,Ratchet and Clank and God of War. This is why unlike many gaming companies and gamers I trust that Sony will pull through and give me that gaming experience I desire. I don't really see anyone doubting Spore and it looks like garbage. Gamers can no longer see garbage even if it is right in front of their eyes. Too Human already looks like a clumsy and uninspired game that has been delayed for years, but everyone has high hopes for it. Ninja Gaiden 2 has more faults than the first one but everyone is still buying it. Don't misunderstand me Jumplion. I don't have to defend Little Big Planet. If it is bad, it is bad I won't make excuses. But the potential of how great it will be is right in front of you. But many people choose not to see it.

Sorry if I angered you. I didn't call you a Sony Fanboy, if you misinterpreted what I typed then sorry. I was just saying that Sony's damned if they do and damned if they don't. And your reasons are the exact reasons why I stuck with the PS3 through thick and thin, and PS3 owners have gotten alot of shit in the first couple of years. But I pray to god that LBP won't be bad, it won't, IT CAN'T BE! IT'S A GIFT FROM GOD!!!@#1

...Character customization? 2D world? So it's like Rag Doll Kung Fu [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwzt6OI7iJo]. A game that came out several years ago and is now near free on Steam...

Wow, I thought that there was something BEHIND all the hype on this game. I actually hadn't formed an opinion till I read this thread.

...Aliens? First Person Shooter? So it's like Duke Nukem 3D [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6JcZv3wPuU]. A game that came out over a decade ago and is now essentially free.

I didn't know games sharing two features made them the same game.
