I'm surprised to see some of the negative reactions by some of the posters on here, but I suppose there are always the wet blankets or fanboys in any forum.
LittleBigPlanet is without a doubt one of the most compelling titles to come along in...maybe ever! Comparisons to Spore boggle the mind - sure both have a focus on giving the user a great deal of creative input, but that's where the similarities end. If I want to jump online for 30 minutes with some friends and play some great creations the community has cooked up, would anyone even consider Spore?
I'm not knocking Spore or anything, and I am sure it has some appeal but it's nothing at all like LBP, so let's stop with the comparisons.
Unlike other games where an editor has been thrown in as an add-on for the brave, LBP puts the creation tools centre stage for anyone to use as they wish. Everything you get in the game is created with these same tools, so I fail to see how this unique title compares to anything that came before it. There has never been a game released that made the creation aspects so integral to the game itself, yet totally optional for those not inclined.
This game has captivated people since its debut last year, and it just gets more and more impressive each time it is shown. When it was first shown off at GDC 07 (as a pre-alpha app) it got a standing ovation from the crowd of developers and industry heavyweights. One of them went on to say he hasn't been this excited for a title in over 10 years. Others said they practically had tears in their eyes from the 10 minute walkthrough and found themselves grinning for hours afterwards.
We are very close to its release, and I for one cannot wait. In fact, this game was the primary reason I bought a PS3, and the same can be said for 4 of my friends, all of whom have 360s!
Anyone who thinks this will not sell like crazy, or move consoles is either delusional or a fanboy. If I were a Wii or X360 owner, I would probably be very upset that this was never, ever coming to my console.
As for the wet blankets, don't bother. This game is about pure fun, and creative community - you've demonstrated clearly through your comments that you lack the capacity for either...
