Yeah, except you can beat the snot out of the people who act tough in real life.

In December of 2006 I was at a chess tournament and was pit against a very vocal person. He kept talking trash and said how he was better than me but as a result of that he lost to me fairly quickly.

When I raised my hand to have the judge record my victory he tried to tell him he won and that we switched seats. We were given sheets to put our names on and write our moves down on and that is exactly what I did. He gave me a really dirty look for that and left.

I guess I am extremely lucky as I have been given the position of Observer. No stupid shit like that happens to me and I usually am ignored. I've seen . . Interesting things happen. But yeah they just do it to show off basically.

...what on earth? what is the matter with these kids? are they TRYING to die? when i was a year 7 myself (that's sixth grade for my fellow americans), i knew better than to mess with the older kids. do they think that just because their parents aren't allowed to beat them up anymore that NOBODY will? if so, they are in for a hard lesson sometime soon.

also, it's school. that's nobody's "turf." in fact, i always thought school was supposed to be a sort of neutral ground. sure, there's a hierarchy in the lunch area, but besides that? whoever gets there first with the biggest muscles "owns" the spot-no year 7s need apply.

I was a very sensitive kid growing up, so as I grew up, I let what all the dumb shits said get to me a lot, but as soon as I got to middle school, (years 6-8) I stopped giving a shit about what they said. I never bothered anybody, all I did was spend time with my friends and go to my classes every year, minding my own business. Whenever they'd actually grow some "balls" and try to approach me and start shit, I'd give them a death glare and tell them to get the fuck out of my face. They'd then run away like the pussies they are. We were often the same height.. and weight, (I'm an overweight person, but I have been all my life, just grew that way, dunno why.) I look back on those years in school, they contain the worst moments of my childhood, but at least I had some super awesome friends and my family to help me through them.

what the hell is a year 7?
Over here (in England), the years which people are at school for are numbered. Promary school starts with a Reception class (children start this year in the academic year in which they turn 5), then it's on to years 1-6. Then secondary school is years 7 to 11, so year 7s are students who are just starting at secondary school.

I had a lot of problems with those people (as well as a lot of other students) at secondary school (going on past experience, schools are rubbish as far as dealing with bullies are concerned).

Woah.

TBH the worst I've ever gotten or see (being in year 12) are year 10s trying to push in in various lines and swearing at me when I push them out. It's quite funny, really. Most kids in my experience tend not even to notice those in different age groups :p

The little kids shoulder charge me in the hallways at school. I'm no bigger then them so there isn't much I can do, except walk with a male friend - they wont do it then.

People here sure seems to get into alot of hostile situations, judging by this thread and its replies. It's kinda freaky to me, I suppose, since i've not really dealt with any of this for at least 7 years or so in any serious way.

But... all this talk about smacking the "little shits" around... how much of THAT is actually true? Last I looked, Adults beating up kids will send you to jail rather quickly.

Just curious.
This is actually so very true. If you do not give any respect how do you can get any respect back? I generally just ignore a lot. I really don't engage conversations that will not lead anywhere. Some things annoy the crap out of me but I still will not engage. Internet (plus the real world) is full of trolls and flamers that might be young. Still with me there is one less that will engage them.

I really think that joshthor's tactic "for me. if anyone bothers me i get in their face." will lead to nowhere. Mankind has always done that 'if-someone-throws-a-stone-I-will-throw-two' -shit but luckily there are even youngsters that realize that it is not the way.

But it is sad that parents don't have any discipline. I just can't imagine any other reason for the bad acting than parents. I like the idea that children have protection by the law but when we reach the point that children are lifted higher and higher in that protection, things will get to this. When even parents will not engage to the bad behaviour of their children (Well there are good parents but we were not talking about that). Luckily im still an observer on this matter.

Our bus is full of little shits who always sit up the back for some inexplicable reason. The way it worked when I was in Year 7-9, we sat up the front, absolutely freakin' petrified of the seniors (11 and 12).

This seems to have changed, now that I'm a senior. For some reason, all the kids think they're tough. There's nothing I can really do, our school's really strict (I'd probably get expelled if I hit one), and I'd feel bad for beating the shit out of little kids anyway, but my god they're annoying.

It seems that where I come from it's almost an opposite effect. The year sevens are all well-mannered, well-behaved kids whereas most guys above that are like a step above baboon.

One cockly little shit stole a part of my lunch, tripped and dropped it in a puddle. he was about half my size, didn't have any friends who looked willing to back him up. Lets just say i wasn't best pleased. I Picked him up and put him in a bin.
FEAR THE WRATH OF LT. SNUFFLES!

OT: I encountered some shithead who was in year 8 recently. So I threw him onto the concrete floor. Good times.

Yeah this happens. I can't remember me and my friends doing stuff like this even if I was one of the "calm kids" the so called tougher guys from my class didn't do this either, and this was just 7 years ago. Now kids at 12 think they own the town and I even hear second graders (8 year olds) swear, I often just laugh at this when it sounds so funny but then i start thinking when I really undertood the meaning of what I was saying and I did not know what all the curse words meant at second class... But hey, nothing to worry about, they are only the future of this planet ^^
But here it is pretty 50/50 with "good beahving youths" and "shitheads"

A few weeks ago at my school a group of year 7s attacked a teacher and left them bleeding on the floor. Several year 11s then heard that they were planning to do it again at the end of the day and turned up to see what was happening. The year 7s threatened to attack the teacher again and the 11s said they would beat the shit out of the 7s if they tried. They wouldn't back down and ended up in a fight against people twice their size who, as promised, beat them up.

I can't believe that anyone in my year when I was a year 7 would have dared to try anything like that.

A while ago while I was hanging around with some freinds a year 7 kid came up, couldent of been older than 11. What happened? The little guy asks one of us If we were looking at him from across the courtyard, this apparently being a declaration of war. The fact we were all older and twice his size seemed to be lost on him. He then told us if we were to do that again then he would get his 'gang' (seriously) and they would kick our heads in.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOL! Um, it's not just year 7s, sadly. About 7 years ago I was doing work experience with my aunt (a teacher) at a primary school. The kids were pretty much a pack of ferals, and one lunch time about 20 of the grade 5/6 boys decided to start circling me like vultures and threaten me with their older brothers. I was laughing so much it was hard to tell them that if they wanted to fetch their 13 year old brothers they were welcome, and I'd beat the crap out of the lot of them (I was and still am fat, but I've been used to looking after myself since I was about 2... older cousins.)

The principal came past, noticed I was surrounded by the aggressive kids, and just went "Hey you, get off the ground" to some kid lying down, and went on her way. No wonder the kids were feral, they're not just getting bad parenting, they're getting bad teaching!! My favourite kid there had to be the best runner in the school just to outrun them all...

Are you saying American YR 7? So that would mean year 8..... Anyway my Year 7 experience. Nothing happened to me personally but it was going around. The Year 6/5's have and had a serious case of this. Energy drinks, extreme sports (Not that these are really bad but they thought it was), constant talk of sex. Two Year 7's in my years of primary school got fingered. Now moving to Year 8 (American Year 7... I think...)... Nothing has happened. Seriously, I don't know if it's the Lutheran thing (Doubt it), maybe it's because it's full of nerds but just nothing happens. This **** keeps getting into fights 'cos he's so stuck up and I heard a couple of people made out behind somewhere but high-school is fine! I can sort of believe it but it surprised me to say the least. There are still ton's of sexual innuendo's but it isn't that bad. My experiences.
