Hm, let me think.

Engel, a 45 minute concert with an awesome Swedish metal band. Was epic. I got to the front.

Stevie Wonder. Was a pretty mellow concert. Certainly put a smile on my face, even though during Ribbon In The Sky, some douche behind me kept making a lousy imitation.

Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds. The premier for the Final Fantasy music tour all over the world. Not only was it great music, but I sat like 10 metres from Nobuo Uematsu! Instant nerd-gasm!

"Play! A Videogame Symphony" Great orchestra, great choice of music, and mascots running around. All we would need would be a Pyramid Head mascot.

And the very best: Taste of Chaos. A concert consisting of five bands. First, 30 minutes of Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster. They were pretty good, not too shabby. Then we had Dead By April. Their technical performance is decent, but sweet mother of Jesus, did I hate the singer's whiny voice!

After 45 minutes of ear torture, the really good bands came out. First out was Every Time I Die, a great metalcore band. Then there was 1 hour of Killswitch Engage, who were awesome. Then, came the highlight of the night. In Flames, the greatest metal band on this earth. Over 1 and a half hour with great memorable songs, and me headbanging and jumping around. And I was accompanied by a group of good friends.

Too many to list here (I'm serious) so here are my favorites:

Tom Waits - Part amazing music, part stand up act, all cool.

Iron Maiden - Higher production than Tom but who doesn't want to see a giant demonic aotmaton belching flames while the most talented metal band of all time plays.

The Musical Box/Genesis - You can't go back in time to witness Genesis (when Peter Gabriel was with them) performing in strange costumes and the storytelling that went with it but this is as close as you can get. Genesis still puts on a great show with Phil in the lead.

Dave Matthews - Another musician who invites humor into his performance. I actually didn't like DMB until I heard them live.

Arlo Guthrie - Another great storyteller who will keep you amused with his stories rather than a huge stage production. I never liked Amazing Grace until he explained to me why it's such a great song.

Ive been to 3. The first two are rather embarrassing If you have heard of them.

-Steps - Don't remember much
-Busted - Don't remember much either
-Fall Out Boy - I loved it but i thought the supporting bands were pretty crappy.

I'm also going to see the Scissor Sisters in December.

I saw a pretty good number, even though I'm not much of a public events person. Back in my high school years, when gift giving to potential investors was still legal, my father (who's an investor) took me to see a number of concerts.

Bob Dylan was okay. The most memorable thing was the number of 60+ year olds stoned out of their minds.

Ricky Martin was one I had to see out of courtesy to the person who offered it to us. We had box seats, so I was able to shelter myself from the annoying fangirls.

Tom Petty's concert was pretty entertaining, because he was still young and he chose to play his more upbeat songs that night.

Fleetwood Mac would have been good if I had been able to hear the music over the sound of the people screaming behind me.

AC/DC was one we paid to see ourselves, but my father still came along with me and my high school friend. Angus's stunts were amazing and I was surprised by the number of women who removed their tops in the crowd.

Once I started college, I got into metal and went to concerts with one of my suitemates.

We first saw Blind Guardian. The singing and effects were pretty epic. It's not that often I enjoy a concert when I haven't heard the group before.

We saw Sonata Arctica several times. Each time, we had to wait through several crappy warm up bands, but it always felt worth it when Sonata finally came onstage.

We then went to see Amon Amarth. I'd never heard them before and was unable to hear the music amidst the vocals.

At Paganfest, there was a Hardcore stage and a Folk Metal stage, so it had groups of people beating each other before one stage and groups of people happily dancing before the other stage. I still don't get hardcore.

My last experience was at the Wakken metal festival in Germany. I don't drink, so unfortunately, the music was not enough to compensate for being surrounded by piss drunk metalheads all day and sleeping in a leaky tent. I spent the following two days back at the hostel waiting for my friends.

Bob Dylan is the only one I've seen in concert. It was a pretty good concert too despite the fat people in front of me.

Black Stone Cherry were fantastic. At one point during the encore the bassist held up his guitar, the drummer jumped on top of the bass drum, and starting hitting the bass with the drumsticks in an attempt to play it. Was quite lols.

Pendulum were good because it was before In Silico was released.

Janes Addiction were superb, such energy and charisma from the band.

Nine Inch Nails were beyond words, in all the best ways, such a shame they don't tour anymore.

A couple local gigs and a Starfield concert... I'm never going to another one if I can help it. Our school hosted a concert, which me and four of my friends fled and we just played cards while everyone else went deaf.

So far, this year i have been to:

- Sirenia, Dark Tranquillity and Serj Tankian (Artmania 2010) It was awesome, especially Dark Tranquillity.
- AC/DC it was awesome :)
- Sonisphere 2010 (Romania) My favourites were Slayer and Rammstein, but i liked most of the bands
- Haggard - superb! It was in a club. The club has quite a bit of room, but not enough for about 700 people, so it was crowded. The concert itself though was superb.

And a few smaller concerts by some local bands.

I saw Pendulum a while ago (pre In Silico! But therefore also pre Immersion :( )
I saw Hadouken! earlier this summer
I'm going to see Muse in September! Which is going to be awesome! (It was going to be a birthday present surprise, but the tickets were bought from a scam site. So I spent a couple of weeks scouring the internet for legitimate tickets, which finally paid off!)

I've gone to literally a hundred shows, but Rush, two years ago, would be THE best concert I have ever had the privilege of attending. I luckily stumbled upon a handful of free shrooms from my brother, and on top of that my friend, who had paid for my ticket kept on handing me huge cups of beer all through the night. After the show I crashed at my friend's place downtown and I was once again lucky enough to "hook up" with my friend's girlfriend's sister. We had been having a sort of very fierce period of flirtation and that night when I shared a futon with her was the culmination of it. So yeah, the best concert experience, and one of the greatest nights of my life.

A close second would be the Punk-o-rama tour at the now defunct Rendezvous in Winnipeg when I was 15. It was the Bouncing Souls, The Dwarves, The Distillers (before they were big) and to top it all off, The Dropkick Murphys. The Distillers and the Dwarves both finished their sets(which were awesome), but halfway through the Bouncing Souls set, these bouncers kicked the crap out of some young kid. Coincidentally, I saw the immediate aftermath of the beating, while I was in the company of two of the chicks from the Distillers. It wasn't such a big deal back then, they were just two more punk chicks out of the thousands there that night. So, this beaten kid called the cops on the bouncers, and they showed up right before the Dropkick Murphys went on stage, trying to get everyone to leave. We didn't, and a handful of us rushed the empty stage and took a few souvenirs. Everyone started chanting "hell no, we won't go" completely out of context. Long story short, we eventually left, but as most of the people were gone the few hang-arounds (myself included) were treated to an acoustic set by the Murphys playing on the loading dock out back. It started raining very softly and people were passing around joints, and that was truly magical. So both of those nights were the best concert I had ever been too, equally now that I think of it.

Sorry to be so long-winded, but the best concert I never went to was just last week, Gogol Bordello and Primus were streaming live from Red Rock in Colorado. Halfway through Primus' set, Gogol Bordello came back on and they did a cover of "Big in Japan" by Tom Waits. That was also pretty damn awesome, and once again I count myself lucky that I could bear witness to it, because otherwise it would have cost me thousands of dollars to attend that show.

Then last year I saw the Moody Blues (my all time favorite band) in concert. That event was far too awesome to describe in words.

Haven't been to too many big shows... :(

Rush - Snakes and Arrows Tour - I didn't have the best seats but I was honestly a little underwhelmed. Much of it was great, but the audio mix wasn't the best and they leaned far too heavily on the, IMO, weaker stuff on the Snakes and Arrows album.

David Bowie - Reality Tour - It's looking these days like it may have been Bowie's last big tour, and I'm so glad I went. It was an absolutely mindblowing show. The audio mix was perfect, Bowie and the band sounded perfect, the set list was nearly perfect with a great mix of the new and old. Just amazing.

White Stripes - Canadian Tour - Seats weren't the best, but it was another amazing show, top to bottom. Everything was spot on and just as awesome as I expected going in.

Nickelback - Dark Horse Tour - Say what you want about them, but they know how to put on a great arena rock show. I actually definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

Blue Man Group - Rock Star 2.0 Tour - Disappointing. The comedy bits were excellent and as funny as expected, but the music just didn't have much life to it. When the comedy bits stopped it was just like a few guys in blue face paint playing instruments in a band. Granted the music was still good but I could have had the same experience listening to their CDs at home. I was expecting more.

Hinder - They played well and sounded good, but weren't really anything special... but I wasn't expecting anything special either.

David Usher - Saw him twice in smallish club shows. An amazing artist and songwriter that manages to bring it all to the stage. As a bonus, he played some old stuff from Moist at the second show I saw. I'd go him him again in a heartbeat, even if the ticket prices were many times higher than what I paid.
