I've been looking for a good, oldschool RPG to play, and I figure what could be better than FF? 7 was the first I had ever played, So id like to play 1-6, Which should I start with, or should I just start at 1?

Well, the stories don't really coincide, do you can start wherever.
I'd say either FF5, which is my favorite in the genre, or the GBA remake of FF6.

Final Fantasy 6 was more compelling (to me) in half an hour than Final Fantasy 13 was in 29 hours. I guess it has to do partly with the text-boxes instead of audio dialogue (I'm old-school that way). Another good one to try is Final Fantasy Tactics. If you can grab hold of FF9, it's got a lot of throwbacks to the older games (and is my personal favourite).

Final Fantasy 6 is probably my favorite, you can pick up the version for GBA and play it on a DS easy enough as well.

I love reading text boxes too, probably because you dont have to listen to awful voices.

I had 4 for the DS, no idea what I did with it though, but, Im probably going to get the SNES versions.

Dude, you should play Final Fantasy Tactics. That game is good (unlike Final Fantasy 6).
Final Fantasy Tactics was like cocaine for me, I played the everliving hell out of FFTA/A2, I had the PsP FFT, but I gave my PsP to my dad a while ago.

From what I've played so far of IV and VI, they're worth checking out. I and II are pretty good too if you have some sort of grudge against SNES RPGs and have sworn a blood oath to never play one or something.

Final Fantasy VI has the best story, best characters, and best villain of the entire series. However, it is much harder than VII, and lacks the job system of V, which I am a fan of.

4 and 6 are great. 1 is only good if you can tolerate the old-school graphics(although I guess there are a ton of newer ports for that).

Or...you could wait about a week and check out Dragon Quest 9 for the DS. That's gonna be some sweet old-school RPG action(now with mute protagonist customization!).

I've played like a hundred and fifty hours or more of FFTA2, and I've only beaten it once.

FF 1-7, original Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Crusader of Centy, etc.

But they also make games like this for the PC to this day, using the exact same graphics from the FF 2D games no less. My personal favorites are Aveyond 3, 3 Stars of Destiny, & Mardek 2.

You can find a stockpile of them here: http://www.amaranthia.com/modules/oledrion/category.php?cat_cid=1

Graphics arent a huge issue for me, I've always loved sprites, no idea why. Off-topic though, Dragon Quest 9 does look really good, but I have never played -any- of those.

And, Ive got like the same amount of time invested in my FFTA2, and also only beat it once, I have been trying to get all the quests done though.

Ahh Chrono Trigger, I had forgot to look for that, I always hear people raving over it and I've never played that.

IV is my favorite of the whole series. It has the best characterization of any of the classic final fantasies.

YES! Do it!

Or, if you must have a Final Fantasy, go for IV on the DS.

I am thinking of going with either Chrono Trigger, or FF6. Off Topic though, I was reading about Dragon Quest 9, and it sounds pretty damn good. Multiplayer too, I might have to get my fiance hooked.
