Yes and lots.

Although late in the game I mostly relegate all artillery to siegework and have my main field armies heavily stacked with grenadiers and jagers. Go Imperial Prussia!

By the way, if you have (or want, it's freeware) Command & Conquer 1, I recommend this community patch [http://www.cncsector.net/cnp/cnc]. For your Total Annihilation purchasing needs, I'm going to recommend Impulse [http://www.impulsedriven.com/totalannihilation]. Battle Tactics was added to it a few weeks back for free. Plus, high resolution patch included.

Incidentally, the freeware version of C&C Tiberian Sun is bloody awkward to install. Community to the rescue again. [http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=41] Otherwise, not much to add than what other people have said.

This game has kept my attention longer than anything other than the crysis editor. It has been on half as many hours as my anti-virus scanner. The game has good graphics and a quirky, hilarious campaign with good gameplay. The game doesn't have a serious note and is a good relaxer on easy and an awesome challenge on hard.

Starcraft 2 is coming out soon.

Homeworld 1-2 (I never played 2) are excellent.

Rise of Nations was great too.

i'm looking to buy a good RTS and i'm considering The Settlers 7, b/c it looks alright and i've heard good things about it. What are some other good RTS's out there for PC that i should also consider buying?
do not buy this. the server troubles are immense with the DRM and youll end up not being able to play your game if they go down again.

Id recommend Company of heroes and its expansion opposing fronts. Id also recommend Supreme Commander forged alliance for the PC.

These are my two favourite RTSs

Of this generation, the Total War series, Company of Heroes and Sins of a Solar Empire are a safe bet.

Depends what you're looking for in your RTS

Colossal management system and global scale? Try the 'Total War' series (barring the somewhat dumbed down 'Empire' entry)

Ridiculous scale and economic balancing system? Try something like 'Sins of a Solar Empire' or the now more than finely aged 'Warlords: Battlecry' if your computer can actually run it, it's so damn old.

Fast paced blasty-shooty-harvesty fun? Go check out the command and conquer franchise. Be careful with newer entries, there's more than a few upset long time fans we'll say 'creatively venting their dismay' about the direction it has taken.

The Homeworld games and Sins of a Solar Empire if you're into a bit of Sci-fi.

If you want a grand scale strategy game then try out Supreme Commander: Forged Alliances, I personally didn't enjoy Supreme Commander 2 though.

Also, the earlier Commander & Conquers are something every RTS gamer must experience. ;) Personally I can't stand any of the newer ones after Red Alert 2.

And I suppose if you want a bit more of a varied experience then the Total War games are great at mixing Empire management with the RTS elements in the battles.

One game I haven't seen mentioned here is Earth 2160 (and the earlier games: 2140, 2150), that was a great RTS with some interesting elements that were pretty unique at the time. I really recommend you check that out, might be surprised. =)

What is this? People seriously mentioning Red Alert 3 without mercilessly hating on it? I was beginning to think that I was actually the only person that liked it.
I quite enjoyed it. My major complaint with it was the DRM. The President Ackerman [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaKziuu1nP4] adverts were cool, the story was...well it's Red Alert. It has time travel, so the story is guaranteed to be fucked but the gameplay was decent enough and the fanservice was amusing/fap-tastic.

Any of the Total War series.
Though it seems im the only one that actualy prefers empire:total war.
Now if only they could take the improvements made in Napoleon and apply it too the Empire setting we could get a great game.
