Looking for a good single player RPG. Recommendations pls !!

I just finished jade empire and loved it. Looking for another good rpg.

Everyone hypes up planescape torment and baldur's gate, should I give it a go?
I'm not sure, but I think neverwinter nights is more of a multiplayer game?

Any recommendations are welcome ;-)

( I've played the mass effects, kotors, witchers,skyrim and even alpha protocol)

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer is a great one. As is Vampire: Bloodlines. Fallout New Vegas with Old World Blues is incredible. The original Dragon Age is also really good on PC (you did say witcherS)

Now I'll be clear here, Baldurs Gate is my favourite game series ever. Ever. It's amazing in all my favourite ways and Planescape torment is similarly amazing. The thing is they are seriously old school, they don't explain themselves or particularly make sense. You need to not only be familiar with the AD&D 2nd edition rules you need to know how to break them. Even then they demand patience and clever play to get anywhere. If you're prepared to get into that then you'll be rewarded, but you really can't take it lightly.

You could try Dark Souls too, I hear that's quite good.
Or there's this game called Dark Souls, it's worth a try.

Yes.

Not at all. I mean NWN is also good when it comes to online play but if you liked Jade Empire, KotOR, and ME you should like NWN, too. I mean, it's just a BioWare RPG, if their formula suits you, most of their games should be appealing. Oh, just to mention, the original campaign is a but boring - the expansions are better. And Hordes of the Underdark even adds in epic levels, so it's sweet. NWN 2 is also good.

Also consider DA:O - another RPG by BioWare. Lots of similarities to NWN and...the rest of their games, I guess. But it's supposed to be a spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate.

Now, then. You also want to play Bloodlines. You'll need the Unofficial Patch [http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php].

Then there is Arcanum from the creators of Bloodlines - a steampunk setting meshed somewhat with D&D - ogres piloting airplanes and dwarves building tesla cannons along with wizards and the rest. You'll need the Unofficial Patch [http://www.shsforums.net/topic/33528-arcanum-unofficial-patch-extras/?s=939c72e7377917b07e022f028f7ead5be].

Deus Ex is nice. Cyberpunk stuff is always nice, so take that as you will.

The Gothic series are fun, too.

And let's not forget the other Elder Scrolls titles. Go play Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion, too, if you haven't. Mod Oblivion, though, it's not a very fun game vanilla (although your mileage may vary).

I can't recommend anything else until you've played Morrowind lol. It's a much more unique experience than anything else listed here. Don't forget the game can be vastly improved with mods. It's absolutely gorgeous with the right ones.

Would we count S.T.A.L.K.E.R as an FPS RPG or an FPS with RPG elements. Either way play it. The Witcher is also really good.

If you have a PS2, GET PERSONA 4. It's 80+ hours and has some of the best characters in a video game to date.

Or, if you're that guy that doesn't like JRPGs, get The Witcher 2. Apparently it's good. Dark Souls and Demon's Souls are great, too.

Balder's Gate is okay, good not great. Two is mildly better.

Planescape: Torment is one of the best five video games of all time, to say nothing of one of the best RPGs of all time.

Play it. Play it now.

I personally preferred Persona 3.

However, both are good games, and neither requires playing any other Persona game (in case you were wondering, OP).

Lost Oddysey. It's a JRPG that's really quite good. Made by the Final Fantasy guys before the series went to shit. Some deep themes and the combat isn't annoying.

Thanks for all the responses. I should have mentioned I play on PC, and I have played and enjoyed deus ex HR and Dragons age series. I love a really good story.

I'm a little wary of AD&D ( don't even know what that means) but if the games are good enough i'll learn the systems.

Im happy to hear that never winter is just fine if I don't do the multiplayer.

Atm i've narrowed it down between neverwinter series, fallout series, baldur's gate series and planescape.

I'll keep this thread book marked for the additions found here.

Please don't hesitate to add your opinions, they are very much appreciated.

Maybe i'll just jump in and see what happens xD

Maybe neverwinter diamond edition...as well

If you're looking for a huge, sprawling action RPG/MMo style game, Xenoblade is a good bet.

If you're looking for something more mass-effect or Deus Ex like... VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE BLOODLINES. I cannot recommend that game enough. It's incredible. One of THE best games I have played this year. Good setting, characters, and writing, and pretty decent gameplay (It's got some flaws, but it's still pretty good)

Although you DO need the unofficial fan made patch to make Bloodlines run. Otherwise it's literally unplayable. So get that patch and then enjoy this absolute GEM of a game.

It uses slightly modified 2nd edition AD&D (Advanced Dungeons and Dragons) rules, but it does an okay job teaching you how things work. But yeah, Planescape: Torment is considered one of the best RPGs of all time. Sadly, I just can't get into top isometric games.

Still, almost every game you mentioned is on GOG.com for $10 or less, if you're on a budget. Just make sure to look for the high res patch for it, if you use a large monitor!
