Is it me or has this been happening alot since they changed Cole McGrath's new look for Infamous 2?
If you are interested in spawn systems then you should look at Section 8 (PC). It had the best spawn system I have ever seen. You drop in from space and enter the atmosphere, not only that but you choose where to drop and how fast you dropped by deciding when to activate your air brake. It has the reverse effect basicly, people on the ground have to be careful because anyone respawning can drop in on them. It made defenders use Anti air guns to stop people dropping on their bases.Phoenixmgs said:Almost every game's spawn system sucks now because noobs in the past complaining about getting spawn camped.Mr. Omega said:On the other hand, they're focusing on THIS and not the spawn system?!
One team should spawn on one side of the map and the other team on the opposite side. If your team gets spawn camped in that setup, it's the team's fault for letting the enemy push them so far back. Also, I don't think any game does this except for Metal Gear Online, make it so when you spawn, you have about 5 seconds of invulnerability; however, once you do anything but move like aim, you lose the invulnerability. If it's some kind of mode where you take over bases or something, then you can spawn at the places your team has. The only online games this gen where I actually like the spawn system are Metal Gear Online, MAG, and Warhawk because none of those games features moving spawns.
I never played CoD so i didnt really know what quickscoping was all about...omega 616 said:MiracleOfSound said:snip
It is that simple, theres it nothing to it. When I had a go I looked about about an inch to the left of the end of the barrel, thats kind of the kill zone.
After 5 or 6 matches you get okay at it, after that it's just more practice. I only ever used it when taken by suprise and had no time to weapon swap.
More on topic. I knew this would happen, all the bitchy little kids (who shouldn't have the game!) getting there own way.
I hate people.
Thats just the tip of the ice burg, click to pause when you hear the gun shot on the kill cam, it's about 17 seconds in.GWarface said:I never played CoD so i didnt really know what quickscoping was all about...omega 616 said:MiracleOfSound said:snip

Now i know... And now i really REALLY know why i dont play CoD...
That shit is just ridiculous...
Good if they removed it from Black Ops, but then they want to put it back in? Or am i missing something?
Im just shocked that anyone besides 12 year old kids would find that a fun way to play...
Aim Assist? I guess, and hope, that is only for consoles...omega 616 said:Thats just the tip of the ice burg, click to pause when you hear the gun shot on the kill cam, it's about 17 seconds in.GWarface said:I never played CoD so i didnt really know what quickscoping was all about...omega 616 said:MiracleOfSound said:snip

The reticule isn't even over him, it's just the aim assist making up for it. Thats why people use it, gives you an advantage over just about everybody.
While Bad Company 2 still has a strange sniping related issue (which is, you can put a red dot sight on one of the semi-automatic sniper rifles getting a weapon more lethal than the M-14 that is easier to aim in short to medium range battles), very generally it does the job better because the class has a legitimate reason to exist.wgreer25 said:I really like your argument, and so far makes the most sense out of anything I have read. I would ask if you think that the need/usefullness of a sniper is any better in other games, like Battlefield:BC2? I gave up on COD when the numerous exploits/cheats were poping up for MW2. A friend got me into BF:BC2, and it seems to have a better place for a sniper than the COD franchise. The maps are LARGE and in the objective based games can have the tide of the battle turned by a well places sniper covering the objective. I don't remember if COD has this but BF has bullit drop, and shooting even 1/3 of the distance across the map will require bullit drop to be accounted for. Now this is not to say that the community playing BF:BC2 is any more mature/not-lone-gunman than in COD, but to your argument, I think the BF franchise has done a better job with the sniper class and creating and environment where a sniper can be justified (except for the mortar strike, that is just kinda cheep).
I will go get my asbestos suit for this one.GWarface said:Aim Assist? But seriously, who finds it fun to play a game that aims for you?
For me, Aim Assist is just a (plain stupid) way to fix fucked up controls and if you tell me the PC version also has it, then i have lost all hope for future FPS's...
The only PC games i can think of where i have seen an option for Aim Assist, was some Pre Steam Half-Life mods and thats a long time ago.. But then again, i havent played all games that exists...omega 616 said:I will go get my asbestos suit for this one.GWarface said:Aim Assist? This is just what I have heard, SOME pc games I HAVE HEARD, have aim assist to a much less sevre degree.
Consoles need it like a fat kid needs cake, given enough time we would get used to it without aim assist, to keep all the super leet kiddies happy they keep it in so things like this happen and they get to call it skill/luck.
What they are too young to understand is there relying heavily on this feature.
They like it 'cos it's easy to do well and get the super cool kill streaks.
no, because in BC2, the typicial engagement range is long enough that a aimed shot from a 1/4 mile away is more common for snipers.Vrach said:This isn't giving in to quickscopers, it's fixing something utterly retarded (especially if it was shipped with the PC version considering it doesn't utilize auto-aim). Honestly, I am utterly amazed that they could've shipped snipers that would miss in the first few seconds without someone saying "hey guys, anyone else think this is a spectacularly stupid idea?".
Wanna fix quickscoping? Take off the auto aim and don't make the sniper rifle a one hit kill weapon.
In short, see BFBC2 ^^
dude, the T88 and SVU are the same in firerate, damage as the M14/M1.Eclectic Dreck said:While Bad Company 2 still has a strange sniping related issue (which is, you can put a red dot sight on one of the semi-automatic sniper rifles getting a weapon more lethal than the M-14 that is easier to aim in short to medium range battles), very generally it does the job better because the class has a legitimate reason to exist.
So basically what you really want is dedicated servers or proper hosting? As that is what you seem to be looking for.Phoenixmgs said:It's just plain bullshit that you had to wait about 3 seconds for your bullet to go where you are aiming. I've never played a game where I had to wait to shoot when I'm aiming at someone. I made the topic "Sniping is officially WORTHLESS in Black Ops" and I don't even snipe and didn't even buy a CoD since CoD4 and I realized how stupid it was and how much of a noob that Treyarch dev was. The issue with quickscoping was the exploitation of aim-assist, not the actual quickscoping. The Treyarch fix was just retarded and the laziest way to fix the issue. It's not like quickscopers actually even had the best KDRs, the ARs and SMGs were still the better guns.MiracleOfSound said:Seems like Treyarch are giving in and are going to make a compromise with the quickscopers.
My personal feeling on this is that I'm glad the Snipers won't suck as much, but I really hope it doesn't devolve into half the community going into games just to run around not playing objectives and screaming abuse at the 'hardscoping noobs', like in past COD games.
COD4 was pretty much a waste of time by the end due to half of every lobby just wanting to quickscope. I sometimes felt like I was the only one who remembered there were flags to cap.
I have no problem with people using quickscoping as it seems to require some skill (I certainly cannot do it), I just don't like when it's all they focus on at the expense of their team.
My wish? Give them their own playlist. Quickscopers only lobby. That way their spinning 360 ladder shots and ultra-1337 montage gameplay won't interfere with the majority of us who just want to play the game properly.
I just gave a peak at the Swastika CoD thread, why would you expect the community to actually be anything but crap? I read that lots of people were using Swastikas, penises, and bestiality pics, not even Metal Gear Online is that immature. The thing that would make CoD a much better online game and pretty much every online game with just matchmaking is allow the players to create rooms so you can kick all the assholes. I don't get why people put up with such awful experiences to play a devolved FPS in the first place.
Not the same as Battlefield but maps like Brecourt and Big Red in CoD2 were mroe than big enough for snipers.CTU_Loscombe said:Sniper Rifles have no place in this game full stop. Games like Battlefield 1943 have HUGE maps and thats the point of a Sniper Rifle. Kills over tremendous distances. No CoD game as far as I can remember has had any map to rival a Battlefield game.
Treyarch, ditch the Snipers...They aren't fucking needed in your game
Either that or get some bigger maps
I'd take either as a solution
This is my plan as well. Don't forget the zombies! Everyone I know seems to forget about the zombies...The Cheezy One said:he sounds like he doesn't want it to change. And neither do I. Some people stopped using snipers because they couldn't quickscope. They didn't want to use a sniper type weapon because they couldn't use it like a shotgun. When I get this, I'm sticking with bot and system link modes.
