...Eh...

I saw the original movies in the theatre when they were rereleased ten years ago. I saw the prequels in the theatres when they came out. I don't want to see the Prequels again, and I've seen the originals 500 times. So... eh.

While I didn't really mind the prequels, adding 3d isn't going to make them any better. This just feels like a cash grab.

The worst thing about this is that Star Wars fans will go see it in droves anyway, hate and all. I hope I'm wrong.

This is James Cameron's fault.
Hardly. I'm pretty dang sure that Lucas has been eager to get the films translated to 3D since well before the current 3D madness got started. I can recall a story from even before Monsters vs. Aliens came out which stated he was eager to pull this off, he's just been waiting till the conditions are right.
But he hadn't done it. James Cameron's the one most responsible for the wild popularity of 3D right now, the one who made it marketable.

Without the success of Avatar, Lucas does not do this.

You guys are a bunch of whiners. Seriously.

If he wants to do this then fine...do it. I would watch them. Also ALL of the movies were good....so quit whining about bad ones when there WERE NO BAD ONES.

Oh for the love of all that is holy. George needs to be locked in a padded room.

I wouldn't mind seeing the original trilogy on the big screen and getting an experience I was too young to get. However I hate 3D sooo much.

It is a 2D masterpiece. This would be like making the Lord of Rings in 3D. It is silly and pointless. Considering it can only be a poorer quality do to the fact it was added later it can only take away from what I always considered the best sci-fi epic.

I honestly hope this fails completely to the point where Lucas gets a f*ckin' clue.

I'm not one to throw around the word "boycott", but if there was ever a time for it to be appropriate it would be for this. SW Prequel films are bad. Over-priced 3D films are bad. What more of a reason do people need?

Don't make me break out the links to the Red Letter Media reviews. (I'm sure someone in this thread already has, but still!)

But on the other hand, it's a chance to see the movies in theaters again, which is always exciting.
While I'm not speaking on behalf of every person in the United States, but I'm pretty positive most people will have the equivalent of a home theater system. And why would anyone want to go into an overcrowded theater with annoying people and equally annoying children?

Kill it with fire, and a bear, and a chainsaw...

This 3D crap needs to stop. IT'S NOT THAT GOOD! It does NOT make the movie that much more enjoyable! And stop riding the Star Wars train already! We don't need new crap from it every year, people have stopped caring!

Ugh. Really, what is so great about 3d? I saw the new Resident Evil in 3d and it didn't look much different from a normal movie. A few things popped out, but it seemed like way too much money/effort went into just a minimal change.
